From the Marbles - NASCAR

Quick-hitter for you here -- spotted this ad for some kind of charitable gala in Miami Thursday night, featuring -- of all people -- Cher and Kyle Busch. Wha ... ? (Also slated to attend: Helio Castroneves and DJ Jazzy Jeff, who's a nice guy as long as you don't mention that whole Fresh Prince thing to him.)

Sure, Cher doesn't seem like a good match for NASCAR, but think about it -- she's been rebuilt more times than one of Robby Gordon's cars, and at this point her makeup/plastic surgery team probably works as quickly as any pit crew.

Seriously, the charity is to benefit Operation Helmet, which helps provide helmet upgrades to combat troops, so it's a good cause. And it's exclusive, too -- only people who visit their website and pay $125 to $250 for a ticket are invited. Get to it!

Busbee why are you hatin' on RG there's a couple of us ( okay me ) out here that actually like him and lately he's been caught up in a hell of alot more than he's caused.
I think Kyle's got a mommy complex and a Barbie fetish, with Cher he covers both. Old enough to be his mom and whatever weird thing he has for plastic!

Lol Baja; I like Robby too (shh, it's a secret!) but on the Nascar circuit, well I think Jay's comment is accurate, at least. He could just as easily have said Mikey Waltrip or Sam Hornish or Paul Menard...
Remember way back when, before she had all the surgery, when Cher was actually gorgeous? She had an aquiline nose and long straight hair and a believable, enviable figure. She doesn't even look real anymore. OTOH I'll bet she treats Kyle like a tick. She won't have time for him.
I love the helmet cause. Wish I could afford to attend.

a charity to provide helmet upgrades for American troops? What's the matter, this country can pay for a corporate executive's golden parachute but it can't properly protect those enlisted in its armed forces? It certainly seems like a good cause, but jeez, maybe Obama can ask the Canadian government to cash in some of their ownership shares in GM so that we can take care of our soldiers overseas.

I never would have known that our combat troops needed upgraded helmets if it weren't for this charity event !! I give high praise to Kyle, Cher and others for their time and effort in bringing attention to Operation Helmet !!!

Nostra I can speak to that just a bit. I have heard the same thing concerning a new design of flash-hider for rifles. It's an upgrade that everyone who sees it wants to have, and the company that makes it has tried and tried to get the military to buy it. BUT the approval process is very involved and they apparently will not actually order them until they consider the product perfect. They keep asking for minute changes. So the families are ordering the flash-hiders to send to their boys, and they get a deep discount from the company. It's probably the same thing with these helmet pad upgrades. The American military has always been very hidebound, and very slow to accept new ideas.

There used to be a joke that went "...when our troops need to have a bake sale to raise money for..."
Don't look now - those days may be here....

I guess pork projects are more important than helmets. How much does a "Road To Nowhere" cost. Sorry ba$tards that run this country. They don't skimp on THEIR health insurance but they give a fighting American soldier a half a$$ helmet. Don't get me started.

Deregulation is one thing - standing by while the fox raids the hen-house... something else... and now let's all go to Dick Cheney's house for a B-BQ on his Iraq war profits!! When I yell DUCK, it's not what's for dinner, but you don't want to get hit by the bird-shot!!!
...and Carol, he's not YOUR f'ing god... despite what the Religious Wrong has been telling you...

Carol- They forget who lit the fuse.
Democrats- Your party is driving the bus now. Do we get four years of blaming Bush or do we get "Change". I remember you all getting promised "Change". Can I ask when that "Change" that was supposed to fix everything is going to start? Are you happy so far (A year later)? How bout three more years of this will that make you happy? One more question: When can we stop using our grandkids credit cards to pay for everything?

You gotta love politics. I wonder when people will realize that it doesn't really matter if a Rep or Dem is in the house, their intentions are for nothing more than power and monetary gain.
As long as Americans continue to be uncaring sheep this will continue.
To much foreign money running this country for one President to "change" anything.

Rudy- We can respectfully disagree. I respect your opinion but disagree with you. That being said the Conservatives have control of nothing right now. "Change" is up to the Democrats who promised it. Can you answer any of my questions?

I think Willy is on to something. You're right! The conservatives have no control at this point. Have some patience. This mess were in, didn't happen over night and it can't be fixed over night. Give the man a chance. He inherited ONE HUGE PLATEFUL. Maybe he won't be able to fix everything. I guarantee that Palin couldn't, and from the looks of things, she could be the conservative choice in 2012! God forbid!! Political promises have ALWAYS been made to be broken, so what's new?

Oliver O-so-clever, the Bush admin was trying to warn of the impending doom and no one would listen, especially after the Dems gained hold of Congress. I've seen the tapes. And who or what you think you are to tell me who is or is not my God, I'm sure I don't know what makes you think you're qualified.
