From the Marbles - NASCAR

Give Carl Edwards credit, the man knows how to market himself. He's spent the entire week building off the press generated by his wreck on Sunday at Talladega. He joined a team that took a Ford Fusion Hybrid more than 1,000 miles on a single tank of gas early in the week. Then it was off to Larry King, where Edwards deftly fielded some softball questions on the wreck and the state of NASCAR:

And then he took to the daytime airwaves, visiting with Ellen DeGeneres ...

Check out the moves on Carl! He's fast becoming the face of NASCAR. Your thoughts on that, friends?

once again confirming that Sunday's race could be the biggest boon to Nascar since the Cale/Donnie Allison fight.

Didn't Michael Mcdowell make a lot of appearances after his crash last year? granted, it wasn't Talladega, but i seem to remember seeing him on a few shows.

What I like, and the funny thing, he is much more noted and celebrated than the winner of the race, personal opinion, Brad Kessolowski is a one time flash in the pan, like Regan Smith, only difference, he got credit for the win, Smith didn't.

sorry, just to clarify, great point about Carl getting more notoriety than Keselowski, but not sure I agree that Keselowski''s a one-time flash in the pan.

Way to go Carl... Carl is a great spokesperson for NASCAR! He's clean cut, good looking and articulate! His appearances on these shows will certainly boost TV ratings.

He is a good spokesperson, well educated, fit, good teeth, did I say nice bod. Did you see that spread of him last year. Bounce a quarter off those abs. I heard that ole Mark had some nice abs too, but I'm gonna stop now.

has anyone dropped the "HERO" tag on edwards yet? that term is thrown around these days like corn-pone at a HEE-HAW reunion.

poor Matt Kenseth; the dude's car barrel rolls and slides for about a mile, is aflame, upside down then remarkably right side up, and he gets upstaged by his teammates' car into the catchfence. I'm sure Kenseth would've tore it up on Ellen too, can just envision the back and forth banter.

Jeff Gordon was apparently on Ellen several years ago, shocker, I know, but it seemed like such a natural fit that I typed Jeff Gordon and Ellen DeGeneres into Yahoo Search, and lo and behold, Wonder Boy was on an episode or whatever you call it in September 2005.
