From the Marbles - NASCAR

Carl Edwards is one of NASCAR's hottest drivers on the track, and now he brings that Missouri heat to ESPN The Magazine!

Ugh. Sorry. Boy, that crappy TMZ-style fluff journalism is an easy style to slip into, huh? Anyway, Carl's ditching his clothes for the fabled ESPN nekkid issue, which they've tastefully named "The Body Issue."

Anyway, Carl misplaced his shirt for one pose and his pants for another -- don't say I never did anything for ya, ladies -- and joins athletes from all the major sports who will be appearing sans uniforms. ESPN calls it a "celebration and exploration" of the human athletic body, a phrase which pretty much can be used to justify anything from art appreciation to late-night Cinemax viewing.

Here's Edwards' take on the issue, with predictably semi-cheesy NASCAR reference: "I hope it turns out well," he said. "It's kind of like going into a corner at Dover. You go in as fast as you can -- and hope it turns out all right." Ever mindful of his sponsors, Edwards made sure to check with Aflac and Ford before, you know, unleashing the guns.

One athlete who apparently won't be flashing any skin is Danica Patrick, despite previous reports to the contrary. She will indeed be appearing in the issue, but only in an interview and not as a participant. Too bad.

The issue hits newsstands October 9. Start making plans now, ladies.

The more I look at this the more it doesn't look real. Something's off about it. Maybe just the lighting.
Not saying Carl isn't ripped, though. But he's 2nd to Mark Martin!

Alright, where are the marbles ladies? I know last year that Kim, hugs, hb, nixie (I'm pretty sure she was in on it) had an absolute fit over Carls other photo. I think I like this one more.

Thanks Jay! And yes, that was me with the "Holy hip cuts!" I like this pic even more. With his head down and him turned to the side it's almost artistic instead of just a skin shot. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Yeah, Carl is cut. But I can see how creative lighting was used to emphasize the shadows showing the cuts. Also, there looks like there might be a bit of p'shopping done. There is too hard of an edge on his left shoulder. Could be a result of the lighting, but the color difference is almost too much for the lighting. If anyone is interested in how lighting, makeup and photo-editing can be used, check out the video here http://www.dove.us/#/features/videos/default.aspx[cp-documentid=7049579]/

THANK YOU JAY.... Okay guys, we've put up with a lot of pics of Danica and now it's our turn. I knew he worked out but, Carl, you're beautiful. I wonder if he's thinking about his wife? haha. I love it, a "celebration of exploration." More, more!!

Good to know that F1 doesn't hold a monopoly on driver hotness! It's still disproportionate, though: of the 20 F1 drivers, most are easy on the eyes. Out of our 43, how many can you say that about? 1, maybe 2?
I know people generally aren't tuning into NASCAR for the eye candy. Just an observation...

MP, LOL!!! I completely understand the frustration of this weekend. My race picks were good, but my football picks SUCKED. Oh well, there's always this week.
