March 2nd Fight Weekend; UFC, Strikeforce and Titan FC: Fan’s View

The upcoming weekend in mixed martial arts is filled with three quality cards from different promotions. Titan FC 21 will air on HDNet on March 2 from Kansas City, Mo., UFC on FX 2 will air on FX on March 2 in the United States, from Sydney, Australia and Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey will air on Showtime on March 3, from Columbus, Ohio. What are the top storylines from each event?

Titan Fighting Championship 21

Headlining the latest Titan FC event will be former Sengoku champion, Jorge Santiago vs. Leonardo Pecanha. Santiago is making his first appearance since losing two straight in his return to the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He was released following his unanimous decision loss to Demian Maia and will look to work his way back to the Octagon once again with a series of wins outside the promotion.

UFC on FX 2

The long-awaited flyweight tournament to crown the inaugural champion in the UFC will begin this weekend. Demetrius "Mighty Mouse" Johnson will battle Ian McCall and Joseph Benavidez will face Yasuhiro Urushitani in the semifinals. Johnson and Benavidez have been the first two names mentioned each time the flyweight division was discussed for the promotion, but they aren't locks to reach the finals.

McCall and Urushitani have both been around the sport for a long time. McCall is 11-2 in his career, but was just 1-2 in World Extreme Cagefighting. Urushitani is 19-4-6 in his career and is coming into his fight on a five-fight winning streak. While the fans may want to see Johnson and Benavidez, McCall and Urushitani would provide a great fight should they advance in the tournament.

Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey

It doesn't get any better than the main event, featuring Miesha Tate and Ronda Rousey. Some believe that Rousey talked her way into the title fight, while others believe that her decisive armbar submission victories in all four professional fights warranted the opportunity. Whatever the reasoning was behind making the fight, Zuffa has pushed it wards being the top fight to watch in a weekend filled with more than 30 fights.
