"The Ultimate Fighter 10," episode No. 8 scores 2.5 million viewers, wins key demo

Ratings for the eighth episode of "The Ultimate Fighter 10," which aired this past Wednesday (Nov. 4) on Spike TV, held steady with an audience of 2.5 million viewers and 1.8 household rating.

Among the season's eight episodes, the figure tied episode No. 7 for the season's smallest audience, though ratings have still far surpassed past installments of the reality competition series.

Despite going head to head with FOX's airing of Game 6 of the 2009 World Series, "TUF" was the No. 1 rated program in the 10-11 p.m. timeslot in the key Men 18-49 demo, according to Spike TV officials.

In this week's episode of the highly touted season, Team Rampage's Marcus Jones (a former NFL No. 1 draft pick) fought Team Rashad's Mike Wessel (a one-time UFC fighter). Jones had the tall task of trying to avoid Team Rashad from making it a clean, 8-0 sweep of Team Rampage in the opening round of the show's 16-man tournament.

The episode also featured the unveiling of the tournament's quarterfinal matchups and another blowup between coaches Rashad Evans and Quinton "Rampage" Jackson.

The "TUF 10" debut set a ratings record with 4.1 million viewers (topping the "TUF 3" debut by 1.3 million viewers), and when DVR viewing was included, pushed the total audience to 4.5 million viewers.

The bar was set even higher in week three for the highly anticipated and promoted fight between final IFL champion Roy Nelson and former EliteXC headliner and street-fighting sensation Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson. That episode drew 5.3 million viewers and peaked with a whopping 6.1 million viewers. When DVR viewing was factored in, the numbers ballooned to 5.7 million and 7.25 million viewers, respectively.

    Maybe Kimbo can fight "titties" (can't remember his name). Rampage has said "titties" a thousand times in the last couple of weeks. Was funny to start but getting kinda old now. He does have titties though. Maybe he can beat him.

    Why does kimbo think if somebody gets hurt he will be the one selected? he may have the biggest name, but anyone with average ground skills will beat him easily. don't give him the fight just for the ratings. the ufc is trying to build kimbo up, and he is just not that good and he is terrible with an interview.

    Somebody get hurt already so we can see Kimbo fight again. He isn't that good yet but it's fun to watch. He's getting better though. The way he looks, at least we know he trains harder than most of these other fatboys.

    I wonder what Mr. OK is thinking now that Sokoudjou and Rogers got TKOed on Saturday. Staged fights, perhaps? If it makes you feel any better, Mr. OK, Sokoudjou got TKOed by a Brazillian. Great fights, by the way. Now we know why people think Fedor is a legend. Rogers had a great chin to take the punch as well as he did, but Fedor must have dynamite in that right hand of his. BAM!!!!

    Well this individual mr ok seems to be an incredible idiot. I boo a fighter or an athlete if I think they suck. I do not use race as my deciding factor for who to root for. When Liddel fought Rampage I rooted for Liddel cuz Jackson is a smartass. One of my favorite fighters in MMA is Anderson Silva, that is one bad dude. To excell in MMA is about hard work. I root for fighters who I believe are great athletes To all the people who believe that white people hate black people its simply not true. Most white people dislike the gang banging, drug dealing, lazy morons who do not know how to speak proper english and have little to no respect for themselves or anyone else. This category of people I just mentioned encompasses all races, idiocy knows no racial boundries.

    All black people who read these posted comments. Dont worry about what goes on in the mma with black figherts loosing or not being chosen for certain fights. Just worry about what goes on in your community and what you can control within your grasp. I have come to the realization that we are one of the most hated ethnic groups in this country.We know that alot of whites dont like us,but mexicans (latinos) are also expressing a dislike towards us as well. We need to stick together and do the things that make the big difference. Personally, I would rather see ten black engineers,doctors or ceo's than to see ten black mma champions. I know that racism,prejudice and stereotypes exist, but I can't use that as a excuse for failing and not trying to succeed in life. Always be honest and work hard,even through adversity.

    Although I disagree with almost everyone posting comments on this page, racism, prejudice and stereotypes does exist in this country far more than most people know. I am not a individual who cries foul just any time a white person is chosen or a black person was'nt chosen. Neither do I believe a white person is better physically nor mentally than a black individual and vise versa.Good Conditioning and nurture is the key factor and a whole lot blacks dont get that. The ones that do,it shows. I do notice every time a black mma fighter steps in the ring, he is booed and treated with disapproval by the majority of white fans. A black man can be fighting someone from Mars, those white fans will be Cheering for that martian,a person they don't know nothing about all because that cant stand black folks. Just examine the crowd when a black fighter steps in the cage.

    I admit I was bummed over several of the first round fights, Marcus Jones was the best looking fighter I thought. Wouldn't it be funny if after all those loses Rampage ended up with the winning fighter! That would be great.

    I rarely post on these boards anymore, due to racist, keyboard commandos in the such of this Mr. OK. It is amazing to me that people can not carry on a conversation without putting down a person or a whole race. My advice is, open your eyes!     If you have serious issues with one group or another go to a location that is primarily that and test your mouth against that group. Put your mouth where your rearend is and show your bravado then.

    No wonder people are killing each other through out the world. I had preconceived notions. Guess what I got over them. If you are nice, kind, and considerate to me then I will be to you. I will typically hold back when someone is being ignorant. I have no issue with people until that individual gives me one. Just because I may not like one person does not mean I will dislike all of that group. Think about it. At some time in your life a single person of just about any demographic, creed, religion, or sex preference will likely to have made you mad. That just about leaves you hating everyone of which you will have fallen into one of your own groups that made you mad.

    I think Mr OK is upset that Kimbo got beat by a whitey. He probably gets mad everytime a black man loses to a white man. If you haven't been watching the fights, Mr OK, it might do you some good to understand that all races have something that they excel at. In the UFC, white men excel at wrestling, grappling, and ground control. Black men excel at hand speed and knock out power. Brazillians excel at submissions (and arguably well-roundedness). As for the orientals? I don't believe they make a very good showing in general in MMA due to either lack of training and diet regimen, or from shear stubborness to learn the best arts the world has to offer because these arts are not "native" to their own country.
    Did I leave someone out? Maybe the middle east. They don't do well in MMA because they aren't allowed to strap bombs to themselves...

    Wow! The idiocy is without end. First, the article...Marcus Jones wasn a #1 draft pick. He WAS a first ROUND draft pick, but he was the 22nd palyer selected, no the first. Now on to Mr. OK, I find it interesting that you would call it kkkufc, since MOST of the fighters are college educated, and caucasion american fighters don't even make up 50% of the fighters on contract. Brazilian, Mexican, and other South American contestants, as well as a large portion of fighters from Africa and Europe, not to mention all the talent coming from Asia are a combined majority over the white american fighters. In addition, many of the white fighters seem to hail from the West Coast (Oregon, California, Washington, New Mexico, Arizona) or the Midwest (Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan), or even the New England area, which, if you bother with history, is where the yankees that fought and died to end slavery came from! Think about it!

    lol mr OK you have issues and need to look at the UFC fight history "Darkies" have held the Titles in UFC more often then in staged wrestling it's about skill not race. All this article tell me though is more and more people are starting to understand how bad baseball sucks if they are choosing to watch TUF over baseball.
