Kimbo Slice was in good spirits, Jeremy Lappen not so much during the post-fight press conference for EliteXC 'Heat'. The fighter laughed about his black eye and uttered the headline in response to losing in 14 seconds to last second fill-in Seth Petruzelli.

Lappen, the EliteXC Head of Operations, was in defense mode saying:

"I think Kimbo's a huge star. Again he's been thrust onto the scene. People are interested in watching him. And I think people will continue to be interested in watching him."

As for the being thrust onto the scene, isn't that the fault of the promoters like Lappen? He seems to be saying that the viewers and media are at fault for glorifying Kimbo. Huh?

Lappen also said Kimbo deserves a pat on the back:

"He showed heart. And stepped up on an hour notice and backed up anyone, anyplace, anytime."

Laugh it up tanimachi. You're going to spew your racist garbage to the wrong person and you'll be the one who gets KNOCKED OUT.

I was glad when the Silverback destroyed Kimbo. Me and my uncle placed a bet on Seth and we won. Just like many MMA fans we don't want a former street brawler representing MMA. MMA is a true sport. But if people would make comments like that of Tanamichi's. Then MMA would once again be branded as white trash and it would prevent the development of the sport.
Anyway, the only chance Affliction, Elite XC, and other MMA promotions could pose a threat to UFC is to work together. The Andrei Arlovski v Roy Nelson fight should have been the main event and it showed the kind of dream matches that could be delivered by joint-promotions. Jake Shields needs better competition, Paul Daley is not much of a threat. And Gina didn't make weight again, a new weight division for women is needed. I want to see more of Brett Rogers and Pee Wee Herman on Elite XC.
Can't wait for the next UFC PPV. Matches are still better there.

Hey Cofield, how is your boy Kimbo now?
Kimbo is the most OVERRATED MMA fighter ever!!!!
I'll take Brock Lesner over Kimbo any day of the week. Shamrock had to pull out, but what other heavyweights is Kimbo going to face in EXC? NO ONE! Would have love to see Arlovski take that one, a big massacre that would have been! Who's the face of MMA now???? Gee..... some of the most predominant fighters ever, Couture, Liddell, GSP, Hughes, Penn and the who's who of the UFC!
I get a bigger kick out of boxing writers trying to be MMA writers!

What's with the racist comments, anyway i enjoyed the free entertainment . Kinda wish the ref would have allowed petruzelli to land a few more punches on kimbo just to make it certain that he got KO'd and to leave no doubt about it. he got stunned with a simple jab, didnt even look that hard of a hit to me and then he didnt even do anything when he was on the ground not even try to protect himself, unbelievable.. well i guess not to suprising knowing he was basically an amateur at this sport. the good thing is that whole story of kimbo being a great mma fighter is over the bad thing, it will probably be a good while till we see live free entertainment on national tv.

If CBS is only in MMA to promote a nobody like kimbo slice over all the other proven fighters than they really should get out.

"I SAY THE HELL WITH THE UFC AND CORPRATE GREED." .... EXC PUT ON A GOOD EVENT FOR FREE.... F#*k UFC and the retard racisis comments because believe it or not you fools your getting screwed too by the big corps....

I really wanted Kimbo Slice to loose, so he would be exposed as an overrated fighter.
But comments like tanimachi's whatever his name is don't quite make it. He is probably a kid who plays video games 16 hours per day, and hides with an anonymous name on the Internet to insult people. He should be entitled to play tough guy, provided he gives his real name, a photograph of himself, a street address of where he works. Then, he can earn my respect.

Kimbo.... you just got F'd in the A!!!!! lol, back to the poor house you go!!!!!..... I know, I know, you guys will say he's made more money in 4 fights than I'll ever make.... which is not even close to being true, but who's counting?..... besides he spent 75% of it on that hella hard core necklace he wears.... Jeeze Kimbo, you're so hard core! I think they should come up with a Kimbo brand tampon.... headline that in your next EXC fight, the slogan should be something like " when life comes at your hard, throw on a Kimbo to catch your unwanted seepage"

At least he was humble to admit he lost. I don't like Kimbo much (I still think he has a long way to go), but I feel that he was put in a position where the money was good, he got some exposure, and did something the he is taking serious. I had to chance to talk to Kimbo (very briefly), and he came off as a guy who's trying his hardest to prove himself. That impressed me a lot, but I still don't take him as a serious fighter. I bet maybe in a few years, once he gets the proper training in to be a somewhat well rounded fighter, we can finally accept him into the MMA fold. It's just the way a company handled him, trying to make a buck on someone that maybe didn't know what he was really getting into...

What I hate is this promotion..not Kevin Ferguson..That's complete bull [profane],still trying to push the anywhere,anytime..blah,blah,blah..The much smaller,pink-haired young man who knocked him out, took the fight on short notice as well you douche bags.He was slated to fight on the non-televised undercard.Ferguson has done what any red-blooded American male would do and cashed his paychecks 'til the ride was over...We can only hope it's over..Kudos to Ferguson for asking for a bonus to fight this guy, maybe he knew he couldn't win from the get go..What credibility does Ferguson have left?..The answer is none...If Elite XC were concerned about there promotion and Ferguson as a fighter, they would have taken the time to groom him,and not thrust him into the spotlight this early in his career.Does anyone out there truly think he has any chance of beating a legit heavy-weight at this point?..Arvloski,or his opponent on the same card last night would tear him apart...Please Elite XC fold up your circus tent and go away..

After seeing the bubble burst, and the hype machine implode, why do I see a very distinct similarity between Kimbo Slice and Sarah Palin? Give them both a forum to show us what they've got ( the debate doesn't count for Paiin ) watch them almost drown. Me thinks it has something to do with those with a vested interest in these " commodities " trying to sell us the all hype and no substance.
Am I the only one who feels that they are insulting our intelligence? We do know better, yet they don't give us the credit to think that we do.

As usual, Yahoo! has pathetic coverage with poorly written articles. Please for god's sake hire someone that can write. I cannot figure out which of these three pieces on the EXC show is more pathetic. Iole, or whatever his name is had the nerve to submit a total lump of s#!t of anarticle that criticized someone else's journalistic skills (that was actually funny, although obviously not for the right reason), Meltzer created new language to go to new journalistic lows (Carano hired a nutrienist?), Wetzel was not much better and obviously missed out on the fact that he could have just pasted that turd into MS Word for some semblance of editing, and Cofield barely even bothered to write a paragraph.
The show had some nice action, and was light-years better than the previous one. Slice was exposed as what we all knew he was, nothing but hype. Now that he is done, can we please start on the Yahoo! MMA staff?

CBS dropped the ball by not showing the card live. For a lot of us, we had already caught the fights, or news of the fights, on the internet an hour before they were shown on CBS. Just another example of these two entitys doing things half-hearted, or well over the top.
In my opinion, Kimbo getting beaten is just karma's way of telling Elite XC and CBS that the MMA world is not for them. The MMA fan is not a sucker, and as such, we won't be treated like one, and some can try as they may, but eventually it will come home to roost. That is the beauty of karma.

I'm sure bas rutten taught kimbo as much as he could, but lets be real, kimbo has no stamina, no chin, amatuer skills, I think kimbo should do toughman shows or 4 round boxing. The real loser was shamrock. He would have won in 10 seconds. And for the people talking lesnar\kimbo fight last month on several blogs, any promoter would be liable for manslaughter. I think Kimbo might die with lesnar. Mongo has vented...

The best was when the announcer stated Kino should get a mulligan bc he took this fight on short notice with an unknown opponent. Isn't this what made him famous in the first place on youtube? He fought "anyone, anywhere, anytime", and he did such a great job last night. Throwing zero punches. It would have been truthful if the announcers indicated that Kimbo was unwilling to fight this guy unless he received a cash bonus.

Wallace C, you crazy? Elite puts on what? One free 2 hour MMA show every 3-4 months? UFC has over 50 hours of free MMA shows on Spike this month alone.
