Brett Rogers had a little lump over his right eye but that was about the only way you could tell he has just fought. Meanwhile Fedor Emelianenko looked like he'd been by a Mack truck. Is that a broken nose? The Fedor camp wouldn't say but his nose is oddly curved to the right. The world's best heavyweight didn't dominate Rogers, but when it counted most Fedor landed the fight changing punch in the second round knocking out the bigger fighter with a perfectly timed counter right. The pictures may tell a different story but there's no controversy when there's a knockout.

There may be a little argument when it comes to the Fabricio Werdum-Antonio Silva fight. Many media folks cageside thought Silva had won a close decision. That's not the way all three judges saw it giving the decision 29-28 to Werdum. Silva didn't argue the point much in the press conference although he did say he put Wedrum on his butt twice with better standup in the second.

Why even make a blog entry about this Steve? Had the fight went to a decision, then it might make `some` sense - however that obviously was not the case.
The nose was broken in the opening moments of the fight. The damage elsewhere occurred after Rogers had mounted Fedor later in the 1st and delivered some GnP. Those two moments in the fight were the only time Rogers delivered any "real" damage.
Besides that, I can see some clear bruising in quite a few places on Rogers forehead - obviously doesn't show on the black man as clearly as it does on the pale white russian.

He got lucky, but Fedor is a big nothing. if THAT is what COker wants to build his empire on, he may as well surrender now.
Now all the 12 year-olds will log in the morning after mommy gives them cheerios to tell me what an ass I am. Very non-impressive fight.

fedor rules....he's a humble and nice person. Was rooting for him all the way. Great fight though, but wish rogers had shown some sportsmanship to accompany his great potential. Why on earth was he muttering threats against a man who just displayed respect to him. A rematch would definitely sell tickets. I still want fedor to win again, hopefully in a more dominating fashion so that rogers will learn humility.

fedor has always been a bruiser and bleeder (hence his one loss). he bleeds and bruises easily which anyone who has watched more than just highlight reels would know. being an ignorant twat and calling everyone else a 12 year old........ if fedor is ducking tuff competition by not signing with ufc, any heavy weight who doesnt sign with strikeforce while emilenko is there is ducking him!!!!

Ok, I for one going into this fight HATED Fedor, due to his choice going to strikeforce. I do firmly believe he was dodging Brock. But after this fight, and the way brett rogers acted, i hate to admit it, he was just simply outclassed. He sat there complaining, but hey man, you may be good at changing tires, but Fedor made a career out of knocking out newbs like you. I however still dislike Fedor for going against his fans and not putting on the show we all want, which is Fedor in the UFC octagon. and for the writer of this column, dont be a newb, do your research before you write, fedor's nose has always been curved, its part of being a MMA / Sambo fighter, you should be scolded for such a rookie mistake. In summary, Bret, quit your [profane]in, you took a mean shot from fedor, he threw his whole body in it, no man would stand after that punch. Be happy that your first defeat was in the hands of a true veteran. As for you fedor, quit riding the coat tail of your manager, and start fighting for the fans, you could be a true legend if you gave 2 [profane]s about your American / UK fans rather than only caring for your Russian fans

I think it was quite clear that Werdum won both the second and third rounds. I do not see why the cageside media would feel otherwise.

Hey, he always finds a way to win. He clearly KO'd his opponent. Respect is in order for Fedor. Congrats on coming back and winning. I thought he would have won via arm-bar, but a KO is good too.

Now for Chris, dont be a newb, you claim that people are ducking fedor for not signing with strikeforce. enough said, i dont even know which aspect to start with in which you are completely wrong, retarded, and downright stupid. strikeforce blew nuts before fedor, still sucks pretty bad might i add. Im not surprised that fedor beat rogers, just look at their experience levels. Its like Mr. T fighting George Foreman. sure, T is big, but Foreman will rip your face off and cook some face burgers on his lean mean fat reducing grilling machine. Fedor earned the undeserved title as MMA #1 heavyweight while MMA was in its infancy, it is now clear that the UFC is the NFL of MMA. If Fedor cared about his fans, and had self pride, he would step into the lime light and knock some true fighters out. Any coward can chose to defeat the special olympics. Fedor is scared of Brock, and losing his title. the funny thing is, i think Fedor could beat Brock if he had the nuts to step in the big show with him.......

LOL come on tito, i've watched the replay about 10 times, bret was knocked the F out, no question about it, that was a powerful strike, Brett couldn't tell the difference between fedor's fist and a mack truck while he layed on the canvass LIMP

Also unimpressed. Whether you like it or not Fedor got his ass kicked the whole beginning of the fight. Actually connected for once and got a very early stoppage. I don't have anything good to say about Fedor in fact I don't even care about seeing Fedor v. Lesnar after watching this fight.

iamgod121, yes im a newb thats been watching and trainning in mma since before fedor was even considered the goat of mma. now if you would re-read i never said strikeforce was good/bad or that ufc was good/bad. What i did state is that if people say fedor is ducking people for not signing with ufc it can also be said that other heavy weights are now ducking fedor if they dont sign with strikefore to fight him.
and if rogers is a nobody then the same can be said for the top contenders of the ufc heavy weight division. cain, brown pride, dos santos and duff have yet to fight anyone rated and have similar records to rogers and thats not ment as an insult. If dana would allow a co-promotion do you really think theres anyone in the ufc who fedor wouldnt fight?

iamgod - I wouldn't say mma was still in its infancy in 2003. If he got the title of bet heavyweight back in the late 90's, I would agree with you. And he earned that recognition as best heavyweight when he dominated prime Nogueira, who is pretty much #2 all time heavyweight behind Fedor.

TITO - I would be polite to you if you provided a reasoned critique on why you think Fedor is overrated, and also to speak the truth because saying Fedor sucks is not the truth. Even those who think he is overrated admit he has really good skills. However, you choose to attack his character and make sweeping statements like he sucks without providing any evidence. So yes I will continue to treat you like a clown until you calm yourself down and provide some rational critiques.
