Cagewriter - UFC

Before we move onto the Affliction and WEC events this weekend, there is still more left to be said about the rather odd UFC 93. Was it worth the $44.95? I still am not sure.

Two different takes on why Mauricio Rua and Mark Coleman receiving the Fight of the Night bonus was absolutely bogus.

Dana White was buddy-buddy with Alistair Overeem in Ireland. Does that mean MMA's best-known nutcracker is headed to the UFC?

In Alan Belcher's mind, he is the greatest fighter in the world, or at least one of the better strikers. Also, unicorns run wild in the streets, and no one ever has to be sad.

After losing to Rua and sustaining massive damage to the face, Coleman thinks he lost because he didn't have enough money for a good camp

For the record, I have no idea what Rich Clementi and Mark Dellagrotte are doing in the above picture from Combat Lifestyle's UFC 93 gallery, and I don't think I want to know.

Maggie, not only was the card worth the $44.95, but it was one of the better cards the UFC has put on in the last 12 months. Furthermore, in one of your previous posts, you called Jeremy Horn nothing more than a journeyman. I know you are newer to MMA and wrestling is more of your deal, but you really need to do a little research for making such an erroneous statement. Jeremy Horn was a fantastic fighter/trainer who Tim Sylvia, Robbie Lawler, Rich Franklin, and especially Matt Hughes credit some of their success to. Matt Hughes has stated repeatedly that he would have never won a championship without Horn. Jeremy Horn is considered a legend my the all true MMA fans.

Good training partner doesn't transcend into a great fighter and 93 sucked so bad it should have been free on spike if that.

decisions made the fight a little boring in my book, there were no slam bang knock outs that were outstanding, but what do i know just getting in the octagon is hard enough so i just thought there were should be more ko's in the matches that i were expecting. one more thing that mark delagrotte is becoming a great trainer marcus davis showed great knee strikes and body kicks which i think is due to the training he got from delagrotte

OH SHIAT! JTAKEO, you may get your wish! Overeem to the UFC?!? OMG, I hope it happens!! You will either be right in your statement that he is the #2 HW in the world right behind Fedor or I will be right in saying that his 4 KO loses (3 being in the first round) says more about his ability then his monumental wins over Mark Hung, Lee Tae Hynn (huh?), Paul Buentello, Michael Knaap (huh?) and Gary "Big Daddy" Goodridge! Hell, you saw Rua against Coleman and how Rua couldn't finish his azzz, yet Rua KO'd Overeem. Please, please Dana sign Overeem so JTAKEO and I can finally end this mindless debate! Overeem v. Gonzaga ends in first round TKO for Gonzaga. My prediction for a fight mid year! HMMM, profetic about the matchup and the outcome!

UFC 93 blew, and Horn is from another era. This era? He sucks. And I have no problem saying I agree that at this point he is the very definition of journeyman.

Horn is without a doubt a journeyman and will remain that way the rest of his career.
He beat Chuck Liddel but lost to Chuck when fighting for the Championship and has lost every time he has had a chance to be a champion. Having guys like Hughes and the rest of those guys helps and can't be taken lightly but his own words are more important when he said that he often lacks the motivation and focus to perform at his best.
UFC 93 was a spike show for sure, even the main event was only 3 rounds that's a main event?
At least make it 5 rounds even if its not for a belt.
The Coleman Rua fight was good for a flashback fight but what next Frank or please NO Ken Shamrock.

We will see very quickly if Overeem is roided up or not. Right now it sure looks that way. What a nice puffy face.

Dana White is always buddy buddy with crazy people that can beat his face to a pulp.
And yes UFC 93 absolutely blew. J W I would tell you to lay off the so and so koolaid but I don't even know who's sack you're on for thinking UFC 93 was not only worth the price of admission but one of the best cards in the past 12 months? Laughable son, just laughable to make such a statement.
Ron M, Again kid Overeem gained 17lbs of muscle in 18 months. NCAA and NFL players put on 15lbs of solid muscle in a single off-season but Overeem does it over the course of 1.5 years and he's juicing. Great logic there. It would be pretty safe to say that Ronnie Coleman and Jay Cutler are on the juice but the way you throw out steroid accusations is not only redundant it's very amateur and noob esque of you. Simply put, you being a regular on here or as you claim to be a fan of MMA you should know better. It's like this, if you have no proof that so and so is juicing it makes you look like an assclown to hurl such accusations and a tool to hurl them as frequently as you do..
    That's all for now.

Dana, Overeem was officially 224 at Strikeforce in November of 2007. At K-1, 13 months later, he was officially 253.4. Those are official numbers. So instead of 17 pounds in 18 months, it was actually 29.4 pounds in 13 months. Add that to the fact that MMA training is cardio-intensive (in other words, hard to add muscle) and Overeem looked shredded recently...and Japan has no testing = pretty easy to believe he was on something.
Very amateur and noob-esque of you. You should know better...

HAHAHAHA, yeah Darrell S.....right on with his predictions? The same predictions that went 2-3 in the last 2 UFC events. GREAT!!! Great White, we can go all day about who beat who to try and determine who's better. But when it's all said and done, it's a game of match ups and it's who is fighting the best at the time. But you are a clown and don't realize that.
And yes Darrell, I think that besides BJ and Anderson Silva, I would rather watch DREAM's LW division and for sure their middleweight division.
The UFC has turned into sloppy K1 with the occasional take down. There are hardly any submission attempts. I just hope that changes when we see BJ/GSP, Diaz and Parysian.

Is it possible that the fighters in UFC are better at defending the submission attempts is why we don't see it as much. Therefore the fighters are forced to strike more. Just a thought.

your coleman pick was way off you moron. you think shogun was ever in trouble in that fight? so what if he was gassed. he still destroyed coleman, if that went to a decision it would have been unanimous. i love it, you start with me by saying that you have been close to flawless in your picks yet you haven't broken the .500 marker in either card that we have picked. you call me an idiot for supporting lesnar against couture, then look what happens. you pick coleman over rua, look what happens. dude, you're a freakin clown. all you blab about is how i said that i could argue that the way overeem is fighting right now, i could argue that he could be the number 2 fighter behind fedor. you obviously have no idea what you are talking about in terms of mma. you sit here and bash on me and everything i say ends up happening, while everything you say ends up.....well completely wrong. you are a loser, shut up.

Tsk, tsk JTAKEO. You look at the fight however you want to. Rua looked like crap and you know it. Or maybe you don't, LOL! I never said I was "close to flawless on my picks", but there you go again with more of your lies! LOL, I love it when you lie and everyone sees it. I also never said you were an idiot for supporting lesnar against couture. I just thought couture would win and you even said he did better than you thought. I don't blag about what you said about Overeem, YOU SAID IT. I didn't make anything up, like you do! I don't bash on everything you say, unless what you are talking about is when you say things like "everything I say ends up happening", LOL you call me a loser with a quote like that!!!!!! Dude, why don't you go home and make up some picks again. Losers like you tell people on one blog that you made money betting on one fighter and 10 minutes later tell people on another blog that you made money on his opponent. YOU ARE A LIAR, in this blog and most of your others! HAHAHAHAAHHA, loser!

why do you think we started doing these picks? BECAUSE YOU SAID YOU WERE PRETTY CLOSE TO FLAWLESS YOU IDIOT! Yet you have to pick over 50% of the fights....you're a joke. You DID criticize me and bash me for picking Lesnar and I was right. Say what you want about Overeem, I CAN argue that he's the number 2 heavyweight right now behind Fedor. 5-0-1 in his last 6 (and was destroying it against Cro Cop). On top of that, he has finished all those fights in convincing fashion using both stand up and ground game. You're a joke, have nothing original to say, bring nothing new to the table, critique people AND THEN ARE WRONG WITH YOUR CRITICISMS.....hahahahah. You're pathetic.

JTAKEO - We started doing these picks because I noticed that we both had the same picks on an event a few months ago and mentioned being near flawless! OMG, I guess that means in your warped mind that I think my picks are ALWAYS near flawless. LOL, you make me laugh daily with your twisting of things. Anyway, YES you won the last UFC by one pick! Congrats, I know you will sleep better tonight clutching the print out of our picks with a big pink circle around your single winning pick! Yes, Alistair Overeem is 5-0-1 in his last 6 but why do you leave out his previous 7 where he was 2-5??? Do you really think someone who has a glass jaw and is KTFO in 3 of those 5 losses in the first round and one other in the second can possibly be #2 in the world. YOU are a joke if you think so. Stop padding his stats like you pad your vagina. He is 7-5-1 in his last 12! HARDLY deserving of #2 in the world much less top ten. WEEEEE, Overeem beat Goodridge (WOW he was 2-4 in his previous 6 IMPRESSIVE), Hunt(overall record of 5-5 in MMA, WOW he was awesome), Tae-Hyun (WHOOT 1-1 in MMA VERY impressive win), Buentello (at least there is some credibility) and some other no name! Not too hard to beat that bunch of stiffs in convincing fashion. Don't keep talking about freakin Cro Cop. Even you say that Cro Cop has lost a step and looks old (Oh wait, most PRIDE fighters look old and lose a step when fighting in the UFC - LOL - Kang, Cro Cop, Rua, Wanderlai)! Again, I didn't criticize you and your picks. I even told you my head said Lesnar but my heart says Couture. BUT AGAIN, you feel the need to make shiat up to bolster your pathetic lies. AGAIN, look at that impressive roster of super fights that Overeem has won! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH, HOHOHOHOHOHOHO, HEHEHEHEHEHEHE!!!!
