Call UFC president Dana White what you want but nailed it on this night. There were three dynamite fights that all deserved some extra cheese in the UFC's progressive bonus program.
The UFC announced that the Diego Sanchez-Clay Guida, Joe Stevenson-Nate Diaz and Chris Lytle-Kevin Burns fights all got Fight of the Night bonuses of $25,000 per fighter.
TUF 9 cast member Jason Dent got Submission of the Night for his anaconda choke of Cameron Dollar. While Tomasz Drwal scored the Knockout of the Night bonus for his win over Mike Ciesnolevicz. Drwal and Dent both received $25,000. In total, UFC handed out $200,000 in bonuses from a card that grossed just over $500,000.
The trio of Fight of the Night fights all offered something different. Stevenson and Diaz was a great example of what top notch grappling can do for a fighter. Stevenson was dominant but Diaz was crafty enough to extricate himself from every dangerous position. Burns and Lytle was a pure slugfest. Some of the snobby media members in attendance, who like to think of themselves as a MMA purists, thought Lytle v. Burns was overrated. The UFC doesn't think so. It's fourth time in six fights that Lytle received a bonus. Guida and Sanchez was a good example of two well-rounded fighters who took the fight all over the cage.
Burns went to the hospital following the fight to get treated for a broken right hand that he suffered in the first round. He also got 15 stitches for the cut over his left eye.

Strikeforce or Affliction is only going to pay top dollar to the top washed up UFC talent that they are dumb enough to sign.
The UFC pays it's fighters very well. And like all things in the sporting world, it is the endorsement and personal appearance money that you never hear about.
So before you fire off on how under paid the UFC stars are, don't.

And if you hate MMA so much, why do you troll the boards for MMA like you do?
Yahoo has a boxing section and blogs for you to discuss your all time sport.
The only reason boxing still exists today is because of the aspect of betting. Nothing more, nothing less.
Boxing has been around longer. People are more apt to recognize the stars of the sport. That's why there are still big money fights.
But remember about 15 years or so ago, when there were boxing matches on almost every cable sports channel??? Where are they now? The popularity of boxing is waning.
MMA is still a fledgling sport, no matter the exposure. It has only been mainstream in the states for about 9 years. And as a money maker, well that is just coming around to be. It bled money for years (that is obvious by all the come and gone promotions in the last 3 years).
It was scrutinized and brutalized by both the media and congress for years.
But all that seems to be fading away and MMA is coming through to the forefront.
MMA gives a man or woman the forefront to display their skills of boxing, wrestling, karate, jujitsu, and so on in a combative situation. It is not limited to spotlighting one skill only. It brings in fans from all the above mentioned sports to one stage.
You can thanks Zuffa and Dana for staying with it when they wanted to pull the plug on the while thing. You ca also thank them for being creative enough to sign with a cable channel for exclusivity and bringing new shows to that channel.
You can thank Kimbo slice for making an internet sensation out of himself and creating a a successful following right to mainstream television. And for making him a semi recognizable name. Hell even Nike banked on him briefly.
You can thank the clothing industry for their styles of hoodie and shirt that most males ages 12-40 are pining for.
And even though it might never take off fully, like woman's boxing, you can thank Gina and Cyborg for bringing woman's MMA to the spotlight.
Given time, I believe that MMA will be the world's biggest sport in less than 10 years and boxing will cower in the shadows of it.

But after last night's TUF finale, and the fights on there, his comments hold zero merit today. Kind of like they do everyday.
Boxing is going the way of the dodo bird. And so is nutcracker trolling the MAM boards.

You pick a crazy fight with me, yet in your post about Sanchez and Guida (the other day) you said exactly what I said before you. If you look at my original posts, they were content-relevant and about Sanchez and Guida's lack of talent. Yet you jumped all over me, making a million personal attacks. What gives? Your post is almost identical to mine. And, moreover, we both agreed with Nut's original post a few days ago concern the talent in question. So what is your personal attack based upon? Why? Remember, you randomly started attacking me for my comments on Sanchez and Guida--comments that you fully agree with at that time.

"Josh cottey is a Some african boxer who Nutcracker has a huge boner for. He likes to compare boxers and mma fighters for some unknown reason. I guess we didn't watch the same fight 1 of 3. sanchez punched stevenson in the face, slammed him repeatedly gnp the [profane] out of him. Its easy to say that stevenson had a bad fight. Truth is he was overwhelmed by by sanchez. And don't get mad, I'm not saying he is the best fighter in the world, i'm just giving credit where credit is do. People need to grow up and respect fighters for fighting! Sure i don't like michael bisping. Personally, I think the guy is one of the biggest douche's in mma, besides dana white, and if i some him on the street i would have any words, and he would Kick the [profane] out of me. I still respect him as a fighter. As with the guida sanchez fight. i still think that if stevenson can't finish by the 2nd round, guida will have the better chance of winning the fight by descision. But i have to say that guidas standup game is terrible, something that me and Nutcracker can finally agree on. Sanchez will come in with those big, robotic, telegraphed, punches and will probably knock guida down. same thing that happen to stevenson! great battle of will's if anything. peace"

In my original post, I said the exact same thing about Sanchez "robotic, telegraphed punches" etc. And I repeatedly noted Guida's lack of stand up skills. Then I commented on how it will be a test of wills, not talent. There is no rational basis for your picking a fight with me. All of the personal facts about my life are totally irrelevant, so I am not going to respond to that nonsense. But just realize that you picked a fight with me over nothing. Just imagine, all of those blogs for no logical reason.

Why is that? Because people young enough to use the internet and know what a blog is don't care about boxing anymore.
Do I like boxing? Yes. Do I see why MMA is taking over? Of course.
Fighters don't get to cherry pick their opponents. Undercard fights that matter. Only 5 weight classes (8 if you count WEC). One dominant organization. A sport that is multi-dimensional and always evolving. Fighters with actual personality that are encouraged to show it.
Huge thank you to Joe Silva, UFC, Spike, and of course all 10 fighters who put on an awesome show last night. Nice coincidence that today is Fathers' Day. Means I get to fire up the DVR and watch it again without the wife nagging because today is MY day.

You are a combat sports moron. If you don't want people to make comments about your personal life then stop divulging information about yourself: especially the fact that you are an idiot. This can be remedied if you stop making comments on something that you seem to know very little about: that being fighting.
Paden,
I totally agree with your points, however, you probably need to take "Hooked On Phonics" so you can make your points better. Even though your English is horrible (an understatement), you at least have an intelligent case to make . Doc should study MMA with you and you could study how to make semi-intelligent sentences with him.

The personal info was the result of a long train of argument wherein Paden repeatedly asked for my occupation and personal info. I should not have bothered to respond to his request, as it has noting to do with MMA. However, I did not give the info to impress you. And I was never talking to you the other day, so your cracks and personal attacks were out of place. Your post to me is nothing but an ad hominem fallacy. You have nothing to say to me but a personal attack, which is a pointless fallacy. I was not talking to you and any fact about me is not important.
My original comments were on Clay's lack of stand-up, and Sanchez's not being a top-shelf-fighter. Now, of course, you are entitled to your opinion. If you disagree with my arguments, then give reasons for why my thesis is inept. For you to say that I am "a combat sports moron" is not an argument. And you have not given me (or other readers) a reason for thinking that Clay’s stand-up skills are good, or that Sanchez is a top-shelf fighter.

In respect to Sanchez and Clay, my position and Paden's position are the same. So he and I do not disagree. We both agree with Nut's original thesis, no matter how much Paden wants to deny this fact. I never made any claim about boxing, as I have no interest in making such comparisons. So, I part company on that subject. Hence, Paden and I cannot (in principle) disagree on that topic. Paden can fight with Nut on that matter.

Freak, you claim I am an inept fool. However, if you watched the Sanchez/Clay fight, I called it spot-on. Clay displayed a lack of standup skills, but a ton of heart. He showed excellent conditioning, and a wrestling base. I argued that due to Clay’s lack of standup, Sanchez would strike and the fight would end each round with Clay’s lay and pray. I predicted that the fight could go either way, since neither fighter is top-shelf. And I predicted that it would go to the cards, which it did.
Now, what part of the fight did I get wrong, since I am such a fool? Did the fight not go down just as I predicted?
