The story of the postfight action was Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic telling UFC president Dana White he didn't want to sign with the UFC longterm. Technically he couldn't because he informed White that he had already signed a three fight deal with DREAM in Japan.

No shocker, White told Yahoo! Sports Kevin Iole he was not happy:

"Isn’t that a dirty (expletive) thing to do?” White asked rhetorically after being queried about Filipovic’s deal with DREAM. “He (expletived) me. The first time in the history of the company I do one over the phone. He promised me a three-fight deal and he (expletived) me.”

Cro Cop finishes his UFC career 2-2. In the end, it's a loss for MMA fans. Japan just doesn't have any depth for Cro Cop to battle in the heavyweight division. The only hope now is that Scott Coker/Strikeforce can workout a deal to co-promote some Cro Cop fights in the states. An Alistair Overeem-Cro Cop rematch under the Strikeforce banner would be dynamite.

Wanderlei Silva got a little extra cash for his efforts in a loss against Rich Franklin. The main event at UFC 99 got Fight of the Night. Mike Swick earned the Knockout of the Night bonus for his finish of Ben Saunders. Young Brit Terry Etim scored the Submission of the Night with his d'arce choke of Justin Buchholz.

The event at Lanxess in Cologne, Germany drew 12,800 and produced a gate of $1.3 million at an average of just over $100 per ticket.

I'm not too surprised Cro Cop left. A lot of talk that this was only going to be a one fight thing. Although I do think its funny to see Dana get a little taste of his own medicine, that was still not cool for Cro Cop to do.
Its pretty sad. Cro Cop comes into the ufc in 07 with so much hype, but fights with little motivation and does pretty terible. Then he comes back for one fight and although he dealt with Al-Turk easily, the win is hurt a little by the eye poke. Now he leaves the organisation for a second time. His legacy is really being damaged.

Lucky this wasn't in Vegas, otherwise the Cop would be buried by some mobsters in the desert right about now.
j/k, but this just validates Dana on not wanting to do one fight deals. Cro Cop has well and truly burnt his bridge with the UFC and if anything had made it more unlikely for Fedor to join on his own terms.
Cro Cop is self centred, and lied to his fans about wanting to get the belt back in the UFC in his post fight interview. He cares about nothing but himself. Overeem will take his other ball back in Japan.

Cro Cop was a total bust in the UFC. He need to poke a jobber in the eyes to win tonight. He's got Lesnar, Carwin and Velasquez ahead of him. Of course he's going to Japan where he won't get drug tested and where he can keep poking cans and freaks in the eyes.

Wow, always though Cro Cop was a good dude, what a douche. I can understand ducking Cain for his first fight back after major knee surgery. Cro Cop looked good today and would have handled Al Turk even w/o the poke. But why the hell would he do a one shot with the UFC knowing he signed with Dream? So he could have a tune-up fight and burn his bridges with the biggest MMA promotion? He's going to fight cans in Dream anyway so I guess he said F my reputation, I'm going to fight for the honor of my bank account. He must really think he's no longer an elite fighter, which contrdicts everything he said to the media. THIS is a much bigger black mark in his career, than his previous stint in the UFC. Makes Dana White look like a honorable man! Nice one Mirko!

I guess Cro Cop will just fight freaks and second rate HW's like Fedor for the remainder of his career. You know I don't like Wandy much but at least he wants to fight the best of the best, unlike Cro Cop and Fedor.

Cmon Cro Cop and Fedor are LOADED, and don't need to fight for the money although they would get paid fine by the UFC. Why the hell would Lesner fight for real when he made so much more in the WWE? Why doesn't GSP or Machida or Penn bolt for Japan? You really think it's all about the money for all these guys?

Well Joe I guess we'll never find out because he's fighting has beens like Sylvia,Arlovski and Barnett....he just waits until UFC champs are past there prime and out of the company to pick on them. So he fought Nog and Cro Cop in their prime and who else? wow what a legacy

Koob I disagree, AA was not past his prime when he fough Fedor, and neither is Barnett. Barnett is behind Fedor as the best in the division. Mir may be the best fighter in the ufc's heavyweight division, but hes not the best heavy in the world. His best performance to date was against Nog, who unlike AA and Barnett, is past his prime.

Cmon AA lost twice to Tim Sylvia and just got KOd by the NightElf Mohawk, not taking anything away from Rogers. And Barnett has fought who over the last couple of years? Im not saying Mir is the best, nor Lesner or Couture or even Nog but let's be real about what Fedor and Barnett are doing. After Pride folded they have been slumming. Big time.

Columbus, OH (AP) - A seven-year old boy was at the center of a Franklin
County courtroom drama yesterday when he challenged a court ruling over
who should have custody of him. The boy was present because of a history
of being physically abused by his parents. His parents claim to be huge
fans of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. They claim that they are
only attempting to toughen him up so that he may some day be a
    professional fighter.
The judge initially awarded custody to his aunt, in keeping with child
custody law and regulation requiring that family unity be maintained to
the highest degree possible. The boy surprised the court when he
proclaimed that his aunt was even more abusive than his parents and he
adamantly refused to live with her. When the judge then suggested that
he live with his grandparents, the boy broke into tears saying that they
    also beat him.
After considering the remainder of the immediate family and learning
that domestic violence was apparently a way of life among them, the
judge took the unprecedented step of allowing the boy to propose who
    should have custody of him.
After two recesses to check legal references and confer with the child
welfare officials, the judge granted temporary custody to Mirko "Cro
Cop" Filipovic, whom the boy firmly believes is not capable of beating
    anyone.

Well the incredibly weak UFC heavyweight roster just got incredibly weaker...
Still Cro Cop, with his losses to confirmed non-threats and nobodies like Kongo and Gonzaga, is coasting on his past accomplishments as he hasn't looked good in a while.... if he truly wanted to redeem himself he should have stayed for the two fights and tried to win rematches with the terrible twosome THEN gone to Japan and fought Overeem again... if he had done that then beaten Alistair I would finally be willing to consider Mirko a contender again.
I mean really you're going to skip town on an eye-poke TKO against a can?

I want to see Valasquez Vs. Carwin for the number one contender spot. Also Dana needs to get Jake shields in the UFC and see if he's a legite threat.
