Yes, these normally run on Monday mornings, but my internet connection was crabby yesterday, so today you're getting to wake up to Marius Zaromskis using his leg to nearly decapitate Myeon Ho Bae at Dream 12 this past weekend.
Good night Irene, indeed. This is welterweight Zaromskis' third straight win using a head kick.
In other Dream 12 action, WEC vets Yoshiro Maeda and Chase Beebe faced off in a terrific match that ended with Maeda submitting Beebe with a brutal rear naked choke. Bellator champ Eddie Alvarez won with a second round arm triangle choke of Katsanori Kikuno, and Dong Sik Yoon won a split decision over Tarec Saffedine, a last-minute replacement for Paulo Filho. Alistair Overeem, Strikeforce's heavyweight champ that is too busy to defend his belt, won with an easy, standing guillotine choke of James Thompson.

Zaromskis's style is a lot of fun, but I don't know how he'd fare in UFC. He's only 5'7". And he has two losses in the past 3 years to a guy who lost in the preliminary round of TUF UK v USA...although the loss was to Wilks, who eventually won the whole thing. I'm always a little skeptical of people who win in ways you don't often see (3 straight head kicks?)...sort of like Imanari with his leglocks.
But I'd still rather see Zaromskis in the US than not.
HeyNow...The head kick was right on the money. I don't know how it wasn't impressive.

Post fight video of Overeem stating he wants to fight FEDOR in April of 2010. Says he will fight Fedor in Strikeforce or DREAM but would prefer to fight him in DREAM?!? WTF? I've defended him about the Overoids accusations but it's looking more and more like that maybe the issue since there is now seemingly no talk about his injured hand yet he still seems disinterested in fighting for Strikeforce. I won't be that surprised if Overeem doesn't fight for Strikeforce again. You can hear him speak on wanting to fight Fedor at the 2:52 mark. http://www.mmalinker.com/videos/view/23661/Alistair_Overeem_Dream_12_PostFight_Interview_

He did appear to come to shortly after hitting the ground, but I don't think the ref was wrong to jump in. Look how his arms flew out and his head hit the ground. If he didn't come to and Zaromskis landed a Hendo, we'd be crucifying him. Better to err on the side of caution on a flash KO like that.
