Cagewriter - UFC

The 50-plus age demographic may not be exactly what Affliction is looking for in spreading the word for tonight's pay-per-view card but it can't hurt getting five minutes on Larry King. Donald Trump Jr. scored a quick interview with King and came off pretty well.

Trump Jr. gave a composed answer when King asked how mixed martial arts got rid of its "tawdy" reputation ... wait a second, it's "tawdry" isn't it:

"I think people like to stigmatize it. It is full contact, there is blood and it can ger rather violent. When you look at these fighters, they really are true experts. When you talk to these guys and see what they're talking about. They're so much more controlled because it's what they do everyday."

I guess that's why Trump Jr. said he didn't hear King.

King did ask a question about the competition, the UFC. You be the judge what exactly is Trump Jr. speaking of:

"I think there has to be (competition). I think when you have a one-horse race, things get boring. They put on 20 events a year, they don't have to put much into the cards. They don't give much to their real fans."

Interesting. The competition is heated but I've never heard someone from Affliction say UFC is boring.

Cage Writer will be ringside/cageside with live updates at both Affliction 2 on Saturday and WEC 38 on Sunday.

Actually, the only one on Nut's list that is wrong is Barnett. He got the boot. Everyone else is spot on, though. I love how Dana talks ish on Barnett for being a roider, but all those other guys are still fighting in the UFC.
And Trump is right. Competition is better for everyone. UFC 91 and 93 were garbage; imagine how many crap PPVs we'll see if (when?) Affliction folds. You'll see 2 or 3 title fights a year, while every other card is stacked with TUF alums and Chuck Liddell.

    Nutcracker
Last I checked, each and every last one of those guys got suspended and fined for taking steroids. I should know, I've seen it HERE where it was reported someone was caught taking steroids. And the DIFFERENCE between them are they were fined for different kinds of steroids, such as Leben was fined for taking a water weight blocker, yeah.

Don't pay any attention to nuthugger he/she is upset that there hobby boxing is dieing and no one will pay attention so if he/she can keep saying the same thing over and over then somebody will save boxing. Just another boxing troll!
Trump Jr. and his daddy should start there own MMA league with just rich people fighting it would score big in the ratings. They can call it the TFC Trump Fighting Championship. The belt would be made out of money and have a coin changer built in.

The UFC may look more boring because it doesn't translate well to TV. Many people have said though, live the UFC is great. Many sports are amazing live -- like Baseball. If UFC lost the cage, their televised and streamed product would look better.
But that would mean elevating the performers, which the UFC doesn't favor.
To elevate the sport, you must elevate the players.
I hope Affliction does well -- and Fedor. I want to see him take on Josh Barnett.

The fedor vs AA fight was GARBAGE!!!! IT was a set up, AA could have beat Fedor in his sleep. AA layed down to help Affliction stay alive. Tom Attencio does not want his prize jewel making them look stupid like Kimbo did Elite XC.
