Tibau slams Neer all over the Octagon

Josh Neer and Gleison Tibau were brothers in arms at yesterday's UFC 104 weigh-in. Both fighters missed the lightweight limit. That's about all they have in common. Tibau is a ground specialist while Neer is a banger on the feet. For the second straight fight, Neer couldn't stay off the deck. He wasn't there for very long in any those instances but when it's 10 times, the judges had to give Tibau the edge. The Brazilian, who trains out of American top Team in South Florida, also scored several big slams on those takedowns. In all, he nailed 10-of-12 takedowns. It was more than enough to get a unanimous decision (29-28 and 30-27 on two cards).

Neer threw more punches on the feet but never landed anything huge. It was actually Tibau (20-6, 6-4 UFC) who landed the heavier shots. Neer, who was tabbed for this fight on late notice, threw way too many slapping punches. He also made himself an easy takedown target by constantly walking straight forward and flat-footed.

This was another sorry decision...Whoopie he took him down 10 times....BIG FREAKING DEAL..... Neer got up everytime he constantly stalked GT around the cage and had NOthing but a takedown ...DANG...How lame...What we really need is some judges that are experienced mma guys Or something needs to be done in the judging of mma fights it's really starting to look bad...

you cant say josh did to much to win the fight but on the other hand every time tibau took him down he did more damage on the ground and got up at will now you have to come to time is the take down important if the guy cant follow up i was not impressed with the fight josh is usually a slugger but he didnt slug much and tibau supposedly to be bjj expert didnt do to good on the ground

i totally agree with the decision. yes josh was pushing the pace standing, but was he actually landing? some yes, but not much...not enough to say he was dominating the standup, only enough to say he landed more shots. so what about the wrestling/bjj? tibau definitely dominated that aspect did he not? even though he couldn't hold him down, he took him down countless times (a factor neer knew would play into the scoring of the fight, yet wasn't prepared), took his back, threatened with a choke and a pretty close armbar. did neer have tibau in danger on the feet? did he ever have tibau in a compromised position? No. Neer knows wrestling and takedowns is a huge part of it yet he did not learn from his previous lessons...either that or he did learn and just doesn't have the ability. not the most exciting fight, but a good decision.
