This giant is no fluke. When a 275-pounder hits you with a bomb you go down. Randy Couture took a huge shot, a right elbow early in the second round and was wobbled. But he couldn't deal with the second big shot, a right hand that landed just over his left ear. Couture crumbled to the cage floor and Lesnar pounced on top of him. After 25 hammerfists landed on Couture's noggin, referee Mario Yamasaki had to stop it, making Lesnar the new UFC heavyweight champion.

Couture stayed down on the mat for about 90 seconds trying to collect his wits.

"(Heavyweight champ) sounds really good I cant believe it," said Lesnar. "I want to thank Dana, the UFC and I want to thank this guy. He's got a lot of balls to come back and fight a young buck like me."

Couture was gracious in defeat:

"Those are some bigass hamhocks coming at you. It's hard to get out of the way of them. I felt comfortable with the size difference. That's just a big sombich, that's all there is too it."

First, the outcome I expected, they both have their primary skill set in wrestling, size was the difference....with more experience Lesnar could rule the heavyweight division for years.

I thought randy's strategy was flawed....To try to use speed and avoid lesnar....turns out he didn't follow that after all....he tried to wrestle the behomoth down...bad move...randy was in a no win situation, he couldn't avoid Lesnar and he couldn't overpower him. The blow Lesnar hit him with for the knockdown was grazing to the temple, that's right just grazing. Lesnar proved he could take a punch, yes ladies and gentleman, this guy has a chin and he has heart.....can he learn enough to successfully defend against the winner of Mir Nog....if mir, yes, if nog who knows....but this guy deserves all the credit and respect in the world.

Ok, so he passed Randy...Now the winner of Noguiera Vs. Mir he must face to be the undisputed Champion. Didn't he lose already to Mir? Makes for a very interesting Match in 2009. Congrats Brock, at least we know you're the real deal now.

Great fight from both guys. I was going for Brock but wouldn't have been shocked if Randy pulled it off. Let the excuses begin: cause you know they're coming. Randy had a 3 fight contact left right? I'm guessing he'll fight the Nog/Mir loser and either win and have a farewell match for the belt or lose and finish off against. Either way Brock's next fight should be good. rematch with Mir or big fight against Nog... this should be good.

let the hating begin! as much as i wish this would silence all the Lesnar detractors, i know that it will only bring more rediculousness and hatred from the fat-a$$ed bloggers of the interweb. W00T! Good luck to the next fool who thinks they can take that belt, Lesnar is here to stay!!!!

MIr got lucky Brock hadnt been working on his BJJ otherwise he would have continued to get rocked and the outcome would have been similar to this fight. Nog will get steamrolled just like any other MFer that comes looking to get worked by Brock. NO ONE MAKES IT OUT OF THE BROCKTAGON! LMAO

Whoever thought that Lesnar wouldn't take it was a fool. Coutoure is a GREAT champion and I don't take away anything from him, but Lesnar was the better man. This sounds crazy, but I would like to see Lesnar go against Kimbo Slice in a backyard match.
