Cagewriter - UFC

Clay Guida has blown his chance at immortality. Sure he may beat Diego Sanchez and eventually move on to take the UFC lightweight title from B.J. Penn or Kenny Florian but that belt is chicken feed compared to what he passed up. Guida and his insistence on keeping his long hair cost him a real chance at greatness. THQ, the gamemaker for UFC 2009: Undisputed, couldn't find a way to capture all his vital head movements because of his "Geico caveman" hair:

"Evidently they didn't have the technology for it," Guida told Cagewriter, then complained, "There's three or four people in the game who have long hair."

Guida explained the Octagon Girls and referee Herb Dean got on the game. Just a guess, I don't think the gamemakers needed to capture as much movement with the girls or Dean as they needed to with Guida. Guida wouldn't get a trim, so he's out.

"But when I got the belt, you're gonna think twice (about leaving me out)."

Guida isn't a big trash talker but he's done just enough to push his opponent tomorrow night to the brink. Diego Sanchez unloaded on Guida in a conversation with Cagewriter on Wednesday. "The Nightmare" said that Guida is underestimating his stamina (3:07 mark):

"No one's had a gas tank yet to last. Let's see if he's got it," said Guida. "Nothing personal buddy, I'm gonna punch you in the face a few times and it's probably not going to feel so good."

Guida also talked about his approach to fights. He always a candidate to gain "Fight of the Night" but he never enters the cage with that in mind. Simply winning the fight must come first. He does have stiff competition for Fight of the Night with a war like Joe Stevenson-Nate Diaz plus Fight of the Night king Chris Lytle battling Kevin Burns.

nice job yahoo. Thanks for informing us of the STRIKEFORCE card that was FREE on showtime tonight. You guys are amazing. You give UFC publicity months before, and even hype the undercards, and give strikeforce publicity about 9 hours before the event.
You jokers should just take away the MMA heading and replace it with UFC…
You don’t even try and hide your favoritism, and then you wonder why people call you hacks.

Laynpray Guida sucks. I can't believe you Yahoo guys are hyping him up this much. In a more righteous universe he'd be called Clay "Yellow Card" Guida.

Oh man, Guida is sooooo boring There is no way he's champion material. He had NOTHING for Nate Diaz both of them clutched and grabbed eachother desperatly holding on for dear life...Machida was never so boring.....
If this guy thinks he's the next champion and not just the gatekeeper that he is, He's taken way to many shots to the dome for sure..Ican see he's trying to convince the masses he's the answear and I just don't see it..

I wonder how many MMA fans go to boxing forums week in and week out and cry about how much mainstream media attention boxing gets compared to MMA? I wonder if Nutcracker actually thinks his crying is going to solve anything? I wonder if Cotto (as great of a boxer as he is) could hold any wrestler/bjj fighters jock in anything but standing up and throwing punches? Hmm, I wonder...
Prediction: 15 minutes of high intensity, Diego doesn't gas, gets the decision. Exciting for people who know MMA, not exciting for Neanderthals that think punching is the only interesting way to fight.
