You think fans and some media member are anti-Brock Lesnar after his postfight behavior at UFC 100? The fighters are coming out in droves to pound the big guy. Mike Swick, an 11-fight veteran of the UFC, is worried Lesnar could ruin everyone's image:

"I wouldn't say he's an ambassador for our sport. It was just sad. Everyone I know, obviously we talked after the fight, hates him. He's probably the most hated fighter in MMA history. He definitely has the most negative it factor."

Swick is afraid Lesnar that is setting a terrible tone for young fighters.

"I just hope the newer breed of fighters dont look at him and wanna be like that. We're not WWE. I don't want people to think that's what we're becoming."

When you're acting you don't have to show respect towards your opponent and then fans:

"(The big difference) is the amount of respect we have. We're always showing respect to each other."

Swick says Lesnar did little to impress him in his win over Frank Mir:

"I don't think technically he's a top fighter. He's gonna run into a heavyweight who's gonna beat him up."

Swick says that Shane Carwin and his American Kickboxing Academy teammate are two guys who can beat Lesnar.

"A lot of people want to see that fight happen. They wanna see him put where he belongs."

Swick is facing Martin Kampmann at UFC 103 in Dallas. The winner may get a shot at UFC welterweight champ Georges St. Pierre.

Swick will travel from San Jose to Las Vegas next weekend to take part in ESPNRadio1100's 24-hour radiothon at The Palms to benefit The Caring Place of Nevada on July 24-25. Readers and listeners can bid to do an hour of radio with Swick and several other stars of the UFC. Swick's time slot is 8 a.m. PT on Saturday. Dana White, Randy Couture, Forrest Griffin, Amir Sadollah, Matt Serra, Rashad Evans, Chuck Liddell, Stephan Bonnar and Octagon Girl Arianny are also up for bids. The bidding closes Friday night at ESPN1100.com at 5 p.m. PT.

I don't believe Lesner acting a fool afterwords made any difference in whether or not people like him.
I think most people just don't want to accept the fact that a WWE 'fake' wrestler can come over and rule the real fighters.
I am not a Lesner fan, was hoping Mir could take him out again with some slick submission. Didn't happen, Frank got his ass kicked all over the place. OK, so Brock can fight. I am now more impressed. Yeah, his size is a huge advantage, but it is the heavyweight division.
Frank talked so much crap before the fight, I don't blame Brock for rubbing it in a bit. Yeah, he needs to calm down a bit....but you know what? Maybe he wasn't even sure he could win. Now he has officially arrived. I think he will calm down.
Still hope Carwin beats his ass, but I accept Brock as a real fighter and the champ.

I see this a lot, and, frankly, I think it's crap. I don't care at all what his background is. I care that, after a fight where he looked pretty good as a fighter, he acted like a freaking maniac, at one of the highest profile events in UFC history.
People need to stop assuming that Lesnar hate is some grudge against the WWE. Distaste for WWE-like antics in the UFC? Sure.

I've said it before and I will repeat myself...Lesnar is nothing and time will tell. A big right hand, behemoth size and strength and naturally we all know his wrestling background. It's only a matter of time. Anyone who thinks Lesnar actually has MMA talent obviously has no idea what they are talking about. I just watched the Couture fight again and the jury is still out on that one for me. Damnitt I thought Mir would do it again...he will, he will.

Hey Cofield. Do you get it now? Or are you still going with that "Lesnar's act didnt bother me at all" thing?
Swick says what EVERYONE who trains as a marial artist is talking about. Lesnar is a goon who is bad for the sport and perhaps good for the business (and only in the short term).

The fact this many critics, fighters and fans have something to say about Lesnars post fight antics prove that is what a smart move on his part (intentionally or not). Ever heard the saying, "There is no such thing as bad press"? Well that applies here, it's generating buzz and any news is good news when it comes to promotion.

Yes Lesnar did says some things that pissed people off,but don't hate him because he was so fueled with adrenaline, and emotion. If you look at Brock Lesnar the person he is a very serious guy, that takes his role as a fighter seriously. I'm sure if Brock was raised on a farm that he knows the meaning of respect, and that is speaking from somebody that grew up on a farm myself. I learned that nothing is giving to you in life you have to earn it,if you truly want something bad enough u will do ever thing possible to get it. That is who Brock Lesnar is he grew up with no silver spoon in his mouth,he had to work his ass off to get were his at today. If I'm him I be damned if somebody is going to tell me that I don't deserve to be were I'm at(MIR). In his defense that is probably what was going threw his mind when he said those things. You cann't really blame the guy for acting like that, when you got people like Frank Mir acting like he's some bum off the street with no creditability. I guarantee that Brock Lesnar has had to work harder in his life than Frank Mir to get were he's at. Was Mir not the one that people criticized for not having the best work ethic of some of the top guys in the sport. Brock Lesnar has never been a lazy athlete he has never took no short cuts, if he was hyping the fight or not were did Mir get the right to pass judgment on Lesnar. I see threw all this I know that Brock Lesnar is a serious person,I'm not going to write him off because he might not have said the right thing that people wanted to hear at that moment.

'quick' swick is a misnomer. he is not quick.. a friend of mine who is just a hobbyist boxer lite that fool up at a gym in bangkok.. swicks boys kept saying, "take it easy"... another mma goon exposed.. if my friend wasn't making so much money selling roids out of thailand to bodybuilders and hgh by the boatload to mma fighters, he might retire and pick up mma.. but why when the mma demand for hgh is bringing him 15k a week... the injectable roids shipped in massage oil bottles... the orals repackaged in vitamin bottles complete with vaccum sealed top.. mma'ufc fanboys are clueless... cofield.. iole... wake up early boys.. dans wants to play some golf, and you need to clean his spikes, clean his balls and make sure his special putter is in the bag.... newspapers may be dead, but online journalists are not immune.. the best hope for yahoo is to be bought out. your stock price is only barely above double digits as an eventual m and a deal for microsoft to further its bing. which actually surpassed yahoo for a few days last week as a search engine... the death of hack journalists and yahoo.. no coincidence.. bartz will shed you mma/ufc sycophants like skin after a good facial... that is your place in the world... i can only hope the best for mags. as for cofield and iole.. feed em to the sharks.. after yahoo gets whored out to msft, you boys are toast.....

Nutcracker, isn't it funny how ever thing your saying is your opinion, you have no facts that back your argument on Lesnar. You are off on judging Lesnar for taking steroids when the sport that you love so much(boxing),guys like Holyfield,Mosley both have been accused of taking roids,Your a big hypcrite that for sure. You keep talking about how Lesnar couldn't teach people the finer points of mma, that may be true, but what do you think the foundation for mma is smart guy it is wrestling. His wrestling ability is helping him when fights, thats proof that wrestling is one of the superior arts out there when applied correctly. Your acting like he's supposed to master ever art real fast to make him mixied martial artist. It takes time, and dedication to get great at ever discipline,u just don't get those skills over night. When he does get more proficient at ever thing he will be more of a force to be reckoned with than he is now.

Nut, you crack me up. Its like you take roids for your mouth. Everybody is freaking out that a freshman to the sport got a little crazy after a fight. Big deal. Everybody that says Lesnar is not a true "MMA" fighter needs to remember that Chuck Liddelll (boxer/kickboxer), was a pretty one dimensional fighter when he made his way to the top, but everybody was on that bandwagon. So what if all Lesnar can do is lay on you. Its a talent to hold Mir, (who is supposedly one of the best "on his back" submission artists out there) down and trap an arm. All that matters to every fighter out there is the W and the paycheck. And as far as his running the mouth, wasn't Mir doing more of that before the fight. I say it was equal.

I have a question: Why are people so quick to assume MMA refers to individual fighters? Isn't it just as sensible and reasonable to aver that MMA refers to the fact that two different styles of fighter can go against one another? There's a reason it's not just called Brazilian Ju-Jitsu Fighting Championship or Muay Thai Fighting Championship. So Lesnar happens to excel in only one area, wrestling. Well, he excels so damn much in that area that so far no one else has really been able to counter it. Why should that be held against him?

Funny, how much smack talk have we heard from Lesnar since the post fight ended? None! Now already we've heard smack from Couture, Carwin and some schmuck named Swick. And you guys wonder why Lesnar gets so pissed? The guy is relaxing in Minnesota, staying quiet and all these jack@sses won't shut up. This isn't even half as bad as what Mir was saying the whole six months leading up to the fight. So once again, you are all just hypocrites and Lesnar haters. And I will say its because he is ex WWF, as much as you won't admit it, it comes up in about 85% of the posts.

Don't get me wrong- I'm a former wrestler, and a lifelong martial artist- so I'm all for respecting your opponent (when they deserve it); and I'll be the first to say I thought the post-fight interview was a little too crass. I just think it's so funny how the more he wins, and the better he gets, the more and more ppl become Lesnar haters. It's also funny how everyone is gonna beat his a$$, right up until they get locked in the cage with him. And like I said- even as a wrestler and martial artist who has been taught to respect your opponents (when they deserve it)- Fratboy Frank Mir def. didn't deserve Brock's respect. He did nothing but talk trash and take personal shots at Brock ever since getting away with what everyone (even himself) knew was a fluke win. Mir was gonna "break both Brock's arms, so he can't even hold his baby"... but that's ok? And it was ok to "KO" a caricature of Brock on a youtube video, in an attempt to rag on Brock for his supposed lack of skills and experience, and the fact that he actually hits the weight room once in a while? Sounds to me like Frank's a little jealous and resentful of Brock... But he's respectful? NOOOO- Frank Mir is a $h!t talking fratboy, who finally got his mouth shut, and deserved every bit of the post fight trash talk. Lesnar shouldn't apologize for a thing, except maybe for stopping the beating when the ref broke up the fight...

"Mixed martial arts." This would mean a mixture of martial arts, correct? The original UFC events were just that: A mix of different styles of fighters - MOST OF WHICH WERE ONE DIMENSIONAL. And the point was to establish which style was the dominant style. At that stage, BJJ was the dominant style.
Of course, the fighters have evolved, and there are some brilliantly well rounded fighters out there - guys like GSP - who excel in many facets of the fight game. But wrestling has always been a dominant style as well. Couture, Ortiz, Hughes, even Liddell has a wrestling background. Hell, many of the greatest champions in this sport are or were wrestlers. Saying Lesnar only wins because he's too strong is like saying an Olympic sprinter only wins because he's too fast. Saying he only wins by laying on his opponent holds no water either, because he's constantly doing damage - I'm sure everyone saw what Mir and Herring looked like after their respective mauling. Has anyone stopped to notice Lesnar never attempted to pass from half guard - actually kept a leg in to pin and control Mir's hips. No hips, no BJJ. Not bad for a one dimensional rookie. Laying on guys. Royce Gracie became a legend by laying UNDER guys... And he was one dimensional. Doesn't change the fact he was a brilliant fighter.
Nothing wrong with being one dimensional if you are good enough. Look the 1995 Nebraska Cornhuskers, regarded by most to be the best college football team in history. You KNEW they were going to run the ball. You KNEW you could not stop them. But it was your responsibility to try. Lesnar's opponents have to deal with his game plan.
Is he an a**? Absolutely can be - though he was perfectly respectful to Couture, as Couture was to him. Lesnar seems to give as good as he gets... And he is getting better. He has walked right through his last three opponents, looking better in every fight. it's really scary to consider how good he could become...

I think it is safe to say that a majority of the posts on some of these topics are more a negative showing of why MMA is not mainstream is more evident then anything Brock Lesnar has or hasn't done for MMA. I've been in this game for 20 years, teaching, coaching, and trying out my own skills. Anybody who has done this can appreciate the work and the skill level of Brock Lesnar. Is he particularly skilled at any one aspect? He is, Wrestling and dirty boxing. His leg positioning at 100 was PERFECT and the reason he won. That has nothing to do with size, steroids, or trash talk. He's improving folks. Sorry.
I don't even consider myself a Lesnar fan, but the people who want to call him WWE, or have no respect for him are going to just be more and more upset after every fight. I can't fault Swick either for his comments, Carwin ran his mouth, so Swick has to stick up for his teammate. Everyone is entitled to their opinion as long as it is educated and based on fact. Fact is for Mr. Carwin, he has a pretty big fight against Cain Vasquez coming up here and if he doesn't clean up his ground work and gaurd he won't make it to Lesnar. Carwin is a great fighter and is going to do some big things in MMA but talking about the champ when you have a fight beforehand is almost as bad as Lesnar's post fight antics in my book. You would think AKA would've helped him out on that.

That's fine...They can hate Lesnar all they want. They hated Tito too.
It's funny that an AKA guy would try to speak on what's good for UFC and what it means to be a respectful, classy, honorable guy:
    - They all tried to bully UFC for better contracts and nearly got blacklisted
    - One of their marquee guys, Josh Koscheck, is a relatively hated welterweight who certainly didn't respect Chris Leben during TUF 1.
What Brock did was semi-stupid and disrespectful and unfortunate, but at least it seemed like it was fueled by adrenaline and the fans' boos. Very different from the completely premeditated classlessness displayed by:
    - Tito Ortiz: Who DESIGNED T-SHIRTS to mock his fallen opponents IN THE CAGE when he had his hand raised (e.g., "Punishing him into retirement" for the Shamrock 3 fight)
    - BJ Penn: Who, after licking Stevenson's blood off his hands, said he was going to do the same to Sherk. After beating Sherk, apparently his gloves weren't bloody enough, so he WENT OVER TO SHERK TO GET BLOOD that he could then lick off for the camera.
But yeah...Lesnar is a classless human being...no double standard there.
