You think fans and some media member are anti-Brock Lesnar after his postfight behavior at UFC 100? The fighters are coming out in droves to pound the big guy. Mike Swick, an 11-fight veteran of the UFC, is worried Lesnar could ruin everyone's image:
"I wouldn't say he's an ambassador for our sport. It was just sad. Everyone I know, obviously we talked after the fight, hates him. He's probably the most hated fighter in MMA history. He definitely has the most negative it factor."
Swick is afraid Lesnar that is setting a terrible tone for young fighters.
"I just hope the newer breed of fighters dont look at him and wanna be like that. We're not WWE. I don't want people to think that's what we're becoming."
When you're acting you don't have to show respect towards your opponent and then fans:
"(The big difference) is the amount of respect we have. We're always showing respect to each other."
Swick says Lesnar did little to impress him in his win over Frank Mir:
"I don't think technically he's a top fighter. He's gonna run into a heavyweight who's gonna beat him up."
Swick says that Shane Carwin and his American Kickboxing Academy teammate are two guys who can beat Lesnar.
"A lot of people want to see that fight happen. They wanna see him put where he belongs."
Swick is facing Martin Kampmann at UFC 103 in Dallas. The winner may get a shot at UFC welterweight champ Georges St. Pierre.
Swick will travel from San Jose to Las Vegas next weekend to take part in ESPNRadio1100's 24-hour radiothon at The Palms to benefit The Caring Place of Nevada on July 24-25. Readers and listeners can bid to do an hour of radio with Swick and several other stars of the UFC. Swick's time slot is 8 a.m. PT on Saturday. Dana White, Randy Couture, Forrest Griffin, Amir Sadollah, Matt Serra, Rashad Evans, Chuck Liddell, Stephan Bonnar and Octagon Girl Arianny are also up for bids. The bidding closes Friday night at ESPN1100.com at 5 p.m. PT.

I think most people just don't want to accept the fact that a WWE 'fake' wrestler can come over and rule the real fighters.
I am not a Lesner fan, was hoping Mir could take him out again with some slick submission. Didn't happen, Frank got his ass kicked all over the place. OK, so Brock can fight. I am now more impressed. Yeah, his size is a huge advantage, but it is the heavyweight division.
Frank talked so much crap before the fight, I don't blame Brock for rubbing it in a bit. Yeah, he needs to calm down a bit....but you know what? Maybe he wasn't even sure he could win. Now he has officially arrived. I think he will calm down.
Still hope Carwin beats his ass, but I accept Brock as a real fighter and the champ.

I see this a lot, and, frankly, I think it's crap. I don't care at all what his background is. I care that, after a fight where he looked pretty good as a fighter, he acted like a freaking maniac, at one of the highest profile events in UFC history.
People need to stop assuming that Lesnar hate is some grudge against the WWE. Distaste for WWE-like antics in the UFC? Sure.

Swick says what EVERYONE who trains as a marial artist is talking about. Lesnar is a goon who is bad for the sport and perhaps good for the business (and only in the short term).

Of course, the fighters have evolved, and there are some brilliantly well rounded fighters out there - guys like GSP - who excel in many facets of the fight game. But wrestling has always been a dominant style as well. Couture, Ortiz, Hughes, even Liddell has a wrestling background. Hell, many of the greatest champions in this sport are or were wrestlers. Saying Lesnar only wins because he's too strong is like saying an Olympic sprinter only wins because he's too fast. Saying he only wins by laying on his opponent holds no water either, because he's constantly doing damage - I'm sure everyone saw what Mir and Herring looked like after their respective mauling. Has anyone stopped to notice Lesnar never attempted to pass from half guard - actually kept a leg in to pin and control Mir's hips. No hips, no BJJ. Not bad for a one dimensional rookie. Laying on guys. Royce Gracie became a legend by laying UNDER guys... And he was one dimensional. Doesn't change the fact he was a brilliant fighter.
Nothing wrong with being one dimensional if you are good enough. Look the 1995 Nebraska Cornhuskers, regarded by most to be the best college football team in history. You KNEW they were going to run the ball. You KNEW you could not stop them. But it was your responsibility to try. Lesnar's opponents have to deal with his game plan.
Is he an a**? Absolutely can be - though he was perfectly respectful to Couture, as Couture was to him. Lesnar seems to give as good as he gets... And he is getting better. He has walked right through his last three opponents, looking better in every fight. it's really scary to consider how good he could become...

I don't even consider myself a Lesnar fan, but the people who want to call him WWE, or have no respect for him are going to just be more and more upset after every fight. I can't fault Swick either for his comments, Carwin ran his mouth, so Swick has to stick up for his teammate. Everyone is entitled to their opinion as long as it is educated and based on fact. Fact is for Mr. Carwin, he has a pretty big fight against Cain Vasquez coming up here and if he doesn't clean up his ground work and gaurd he won't make it to Lesnar. Carwin is a great fighter and is going to do some big things in MMA but talking about the champ when you have a fight beforehand is almost as bad as Lesnar's post fight antics in my book. You would think AKA would've helped him out on that.

He is 100% correct when he talks of respect.

It's funny that an AKA guy would try to speak on what's good for UFC and what it means to be a respectful, classy, honorable guy:
- They all tried to bully UFC for better contracts and nearly got blacklisted
- One of their marquee guys, Josh Koscheck, is a relatively hated welterweight who certainly didn't respect Chris Leben during TUF 1.
What Brock did was semi-stupid and disrespectful and unfortunate, but at least it seemed like it was fueled by adrenaline and the fans' boos. Very different from the completely premeditated classlessness displayed by:
- Tito Ortiz: Who DESIGNED T-SHIRTS to mock his fallen opponents IN THE CAGE when he had his hand raised (e.g., "Punishing him into retirement" for the Shamrock 3 fight)
- BJ Penn: Who, after licking Stevenson's blood off his hands, said he was going to do the same to Sherk. After beating Sherk, apparently his gloves weren't bloody enough, so he WENT OVER TO SHERK TO GET BLOOD that he could then lick off for the camera.
But yeah...Lesnar is a classless human being...no double standard there.
