Andrei Arlovski and Brett Rogers don't look or sound anything like each other. But if you listened to Arlovski back in January after his loss to Fedor Emelianenko and then Rogers last night in Chicago, the mood was eerily similar. Both guys had that, "what just happened" tone.

Just like Arlovski at Affliction 2, Rogers was making the Fedor look human. Not many opponents have done that. The Russian hasn't lost since 2000 but Rogers was doing quite a bit of damage on the feet and even got Fedor on his back. But then just like Arlovski, who tried a crazy flying knee, Rogers telegraphed a left hook. Fedor timed it perfectly and blasted him on the chin. Next thing "The Grim" knew, referee "Big" John McCarthy was rubbing his back saying, "it's okay, you're safe."

"I guess you can say I didn't see it coming," said Rogers. "I definitely knew that's his punch. I like to throw but every now and then I put my hands down. He got too close. He capitlized on the hole. I'm gonna work on that."

Rogers said his problems started when he went away from his game, being the aggressor and attacking:

"I'm going to come out a whole lot more aggressive [next time]. He was playing the game right. I should've been throwing my hands."

Rogers was actually thrown off by Fedor's demeanor. There are times it looks like the Russian is getting beaten badly but his expression never changes.

"The fight went as planned. I could tell he stuck with his gameplan. What threw me off was how loose he was. It just kind of threw me. I think a lot of people sleep on [his speed], his first step."

Rogers thought the stoppage was a bit early and that he wasn't completely out but he wasn't going to complain. Fedor now has 31 wins and most of those came against guys who fought not to lose. Rogers was pretty aggressive and took the fight to Fedor. Now he has to hope a lot of things fall his way if ever wants to get a shot avenging the first defeat of his career against the 33-year-old heavyweight legend.

This just makes me even more dissapointed that we'll probably never see Fedor vs. Lesnar.

Just another victim? Are you kidding me? Do you know anything about fighting at all?
Rodgers frustrated Fedor's every move stand up and on the ground. Not bad comparing the relative experience of the two combatants. Fedor won because he has ice-water running through his veins. Just like Rodgers said? He doesn't sound confused to me.

Fedor was playing "tricks" on him. He's too loose to fight properly.

I am now convinced that Lesnar in Rogers place would have beaten Fedor. Rogers ground and pound for that 10 seconds was doing well, but Lesnar's would have lasted the rest of the round and ended in Fedor bloodied and unconscious. I am a Fedor fan, but he is looking more vulnerable in each of the last 2 fights. AA was winning until he tried that ridiculous flying knee. Rogers, I knew the outcome, but give him credit for lasting longer and damaging Fedor more than I thought he would. It is going to take someone with Lesnar's speed, power and pedigree to beat Fedor and even then I'm only going 60-40 because lets face it.....it's Fedor.

Great showing from StrikeForce, Yahoo needs to change the link from UFC back to MMA to honor the fights last night. I couldn't help but hear those sound effects when Fedor was dropping bombs on Brett. Miller has all of the talent and experience in the world, but clowns around too much and doesn't have the killer instinct. He gave that fight away to Jake Shields. Fedor, "Nobody makes me bleed my own blood, NOBODY!"

Fedor definetly impressed me. I don't see any heavyweights in either league beating him. I'm sure he'll lose again in his career, but for now he is the best, bar none. Rogers was talking like Fedor wanted a rematch? Brother, you lost, remember? Anyway, great fight and I look forward to seeing more of Fedor.

I dont have time to listen to this interveiw but there he did make mistakes that showed how green he is in mma and fedor took full advantage so no matter how much stronger he is he is still dumber and both factor comes to play in a fight so he needs to look to get experience and stop making mistakes like dropping your guard

Fedor was pounded in the ground. But who was laid out on the canvas in the end you nut lickers!
Fedor hit that dude with his WHOLE body! He was freakin' air borne! Laid that big piece of sh*t out!
Just like that steriod terd Lesnar will be. Laid the f*ck out!

Post 17 why do you think Fedor turned down the BIG payday he was offered by UFC? He doesn't want to fight the best heavyweights night in and night out. He would rather have his promoters pick one or two decent( at best) fighters he can dominate yearly and cash in on that. Don't get me wrong is is a great fighter, but to be considered the best you have to fight the best. Rogers would be considered fifth or sixth heavyweight on the UFC roster at best and he gave Fedor all he could handle. What would he do against, Lesnar, Carwin, Velasquez, Mir, or Courture on a regular basis. Like it or not UFC does have a much deeper competition at Heavyweight. I am not partial to either organization, but its time to have the best fight the best.

pound for pound the best fighter in the world? I dont see it. He still hasnt fought anyone. Rogers is ok, but not a great opponent. Fedor is slow, painfully slow. He doesnt defend strikes well. (just look at his face) He cant kick, or at least didnt show it in this fight. Hes good on his back, but why is he always on his back? Hes strong, but he isnt as strong as Carwin, Lesnar, or Nougera. He doesnt really look like he can withstand a burrage of punches if someone was to go that route. Not impressed at all with Fedor.

I hear Roland LaStarza is coming out of retirement to challenge Brock first, then Fedor. I know he lost to Rocky, but don't count him out. Personally, I think he should have some tune-ups before he takes on the likes of Brock, but he might still be punch-drunk from his loss to Marciano.

Fedor was LOSING that fight. He absolutly lost the first round, and if Rogers would've had just a little wrestlig ability he would have KO'd Fedor when he had him on the ground. Why does everyone think that Fedor has actually done something. Rogers isn't even a top 10 heavyweght and up until that last punch was killing Fedor. Now everyone knows the real reason why he didn't sign with the UFC, he can't handle the real heavyweights. Rogers was controlling him on the ground and has no wrestling experience what so ever. The top three or four HWs in the UFC would own him and he knows it, thats why he is fighting in AA, what a JOKE!!!!!

Terry o, Rogers is ranked higher than Carwin. Neither Carwin or Lesnar have the striking that Rogers has, so Fedor would have one game plan and one attack to prepare for. Lesnar and Carwin would definitely be a fight, but how would they take the punch from Fedor, that is the question, this wont be Mir hitting them.

You have to be kidding or you just got into MMA, Rogers is listed ahead of Carwin in all the different ranking systems. And the Carwin's and Lesnar's would have to get to Fedor to use their wrestling.

Rogers had size, strenght, power, reach, weight advantage while Fedor had everything else thus the outcome. Fedor beats you by letting you give him all the best you got and then he turns it on and he gives his opponents everything he has and the outcome is always the same, Fedor wins. The guy got punch repeatly by a stronger power puncher, yet leverage and speed mix with timing and expierance TKO the bigger, taller and stronger guy. Some might say look at fedors face! So what? You have to break a few eggs to make an omelet. The guy was in a game one round fight for crying out loud! A rematch after Rogers fights Big foot Silvia and Fedor beats both Overeen and Wardun would be interesting since Rogers clearly needs more ground work expierance. Maybe Rogers can train with Carwin or Lesner for the rematch.

omg this idiot better NOT get a rematch.. the only way he should get a rematch is if he wins another 10 in a row. and the way he said that "fedor wants a rematch"??? rogers was the one begging for a rematch 2 mins after he woke up. fedor said "why not" lol.. HE DIDNT DESERVE THE FIRST FIGHT AND DOESN'T DESERVE A REMATCH.

post 24 your a moron. did you see fedor sambo throwing rogers off of him and he took rogers down and when rogers was on top fedor went for a kimura and armbar. fedor clearly was the better fight with strikes, control, and ground game. did you ever see fedor once in trouble cause i sure as hell didnt. and dont try to say when rogers was on top because fedor was unfazed and went right for an armbar attempt. and i bet your the "real mma" fan right? who thinks brock lesnar is the best. maybe if you didnt trasition from WWE to MMA because of mr lesnar you would have a clue what you were talking about!
