Each time I see Nick and Nate Diaz, I think, 'Damn, that Stockton must be a rough town. Why are these kids so bitter and angry?'
Sacramento's Channel 10 did a nice job of grabbing quotes from local fight fans before the EliteXC event in Stockton, Ca. Pumped up fight followers tell the story of Stockton.
There's some great lines in this video. One fight fan said, "Stockton isn't known for a lot of good things. We usually have a lot of violence, now we're known for our violence in a good way."
"I don't love seeing (blood). I'm not an advocate of bloodshed although we don't hate on it," said a couple of 20-something women.
All five fans on video had their teeth and spoke relatively good English. Channel 10 may have spoken with the cream of the crop in Stockton. According to Central Connecticut State studies in 2005 and 2006, Stockton ranked as the most illiterate of all U.S. cities with a population of more than 250,000.
So Stockton isn't a great place to stir up a conversation with anyone possessing an IQ over 75 but if you're looking to get a beating at a sports bar, it is prime real estate.
The bar's owner got the brunt at Coco's:
Stockton police shortly before 1 a.m. Friday were called to Coco's Sports Bar and Grill in the 2500 block of East Fremont Street to a report of a large disturbance there, according to a police report. The bar's owner was trying to stop the fight and was attacked and beaten with bottles, according to the report. He was in and out of consciousness and was taken to San Joaquin General Hospital for treatment
The Blue Moon featured a catfight and knives:
According to a police report, the woman was with some friends at Blue Moon Lounge and Sports Bar, at 1239 E. Hammer Lane, when another woman, identified as Danielle Fryman, 26, with whom the victim had been feuding for the past three years, arrived at around 1:30 a.m. Saturday. The two went outside and began to argue. Police said Fryman drove away but returned armed with a knife, chased down the victim and stabbed her in the chest and the left arm.
This sounds like the perfect city for Captain Lou Albano's 76th birthday party. If you missed it, the WWE's Sandman started a brawl during Capt. Lou's 75th bash. The Yonkers police had to call in the SWAT team to break it up. We just spotted video for your viewing pleasure.
