Cagewriter - UFC

You're not going to meet a more jovial, good-natured cage fighter than Wanderlei Silva but there's something about Quinton Jackson that simply pisses him off. A melee nearly broke out just after they weighed in for their UFC 92 fight. There's was one problem, apparently Jackson wanted no part of the "Axe Murderer."

Silva and Jackson stood toe-to-toe, staring each other down for eight seconds. As Jackson went to step away, it looked like he said something and then Silva shoved him.

The shove looked a little harder than the one Silva gave Jackson after his Pride 25 victory over Kevin Randleman. Jackson's reaction was the same. He backed away from a confrontation. Jackson did make a throat slit gesture and howled once Silva was escorted off the stage.

Here is the picture of the Silva push here. UFC president Dana White was in the middle of the fracas.

How is that getting inside Rampage's head. Actually it's the other way around. Silva is the one who got pissed and lost his cool. Look at Rampage he's looking right at Silva and smiling. Silva is the one running on anger and that's gonna cost him. Rampage is gonna knock Wandy out.

Steve wouldn't a response to Silva's antics be typical. Rampage has a lot of class and is in no way afraid of Silva. Report just the facts! Rampage knows what he has to do to Silva but in the ring.

the guy who wrote this is write. wanderlei hates rampages guts. all of wanderlei's comments are about how much he hates rampage, how badly he wants to knock him out. rampages hasnt really said much, its like he doesnt want to piss of wanderlei anymore than it is. rampage fears wanderlei. u dont take two devastating KO's from a guy and just forget it.

Give Colfield a break, he's a columnist, which means he's supposed to give his opinion on things. Just because you don't like what he has to say, doesn't mean he isn't entitled to an opinion. If you hate him so much, and his writing pisses you off so much, quit reading him.
For the record, I don't agree with him very much, but give the guy a break, he's doing his job, and agree with what he has to say or not, he still does a decent job.
And for you guys saying Rampage is gonna win - he has a chance for sure (anything can happen in MMA), but Silva KO'd him in brutal fashion twice and Rampage has never shown any type of defense to Silva's Muay Thai clinch. Once Silva starts feeding him knees, it's over. I predict Silva in round 2 by KO.

@ Idiot #1. Cofield didn't imply anything. You, however, did INFER something. Which means it's on you, not on him...

#5 & 6 are right. It seems there is a group of people that can't wait for Colfield to post something so that they can be the first to bash him. And who ever thinks that Silva is scared of Rampage is dreaming. How do you beat the crap out of someone two times, and then fear them when you fight him again. That makes no logical sense. Look at Rampage's record. He has not fought too many talented fighters in his past. He has only been fighting talented fighters since '03. He won by decision in most of his wins against top fighters. Liddell is the only one he ko'ed. Rampage was more of a circus act for the Pride organization. The Japanese people liked his wwf antics. Don't get me wrong. Rampage is a talented fighter, but not as talented as Silva. Silva has a much better record of fighting talented fighters and clearly winning.
My predictions: Silva by KO before 3rd round, Rashad Evens by ? (this is a close fight), Nog by Submission before 5th round.

Retard Rich, he imply it. Second, #7 this is not about Rampage's record, it's about weigh-ins. Stay on the subject you freaking goof. FTR, this is a fight that is not in Japan or Pride. It should be an even matchup since there is actually testing in the U.S. and referees are hired by the comission

People implying that Rampage is in Silva's head because Silva resorted to the push apparently haven't seen the other altercation in the ring. Silva did the same thing to Jackson and Jackson smiled. Silva KOed Jackson in their first fight and Jackson smiled just before the ref saved him from taking any more of a beating. In the stare-down for their second fight Jackson smiled. So jackson has smiled twice and been KOed twice. Now a third smile and I predict a third KO.
Rampage is not scared of Wanderlei but to suggest that getting KOed like that TWICE isn't a mind-fug would be retarded.

Rampage does not need to play mind games with this man. Because we haven't seen the real Axe Murderer in a long time. The last time we saw the real axe murderer was in pride. He is putting silva back in his old killer mind state. Remember how much silva used to use the clinches and knees in pride? We're probably going to see that. and Rampage dont want none of that. But good luck to Rampage. I hope he wins this time.

I think that stare down said a lot about Rampage this time around, he looked very cool and not scared at all of wandy. I think Rampage is finally going to get a Big win over wandy

Sheesh, looks like the kids are home for Christmas...Not sure you can take much from a weigh in and try to imply what it all mean's..Except it's clear from the words before they don't like eachother, YEA..I love a little hate in the mix, I do believe that this match up "good" or "Bad" brings out a certain how should I word it?? Animal in Wanderlei, hopefully the fire is back for a long time..that nevertheless was some good Hype for this HUGE card.
Oh and #1 your a tool...Shut the hell up and stay in your little white hater world..being first to bash Cofield is a place of honor and you my friend are a shmuck...

finally it's here!! I can't wait for tonight. and as far as this fight I'm taking Silva.... I like Rampage, and I know this is a big fight for both of them.... but Wandy seems to have Quinton's number and I'm not buying the throat slashing and howling done after the fracas was already over..... I think Jackson will go out there tonight and throw some bombs..... but if he doesn't catch Silva early I have TKO by Silva early 2nd round....

Silva is in Rampages head, has been for years. Same as Rampage has been in Liddels. Its a weird circle of bad style matchups. Plus Rampage has shown no sign of getting his head back from that whatever it was in LA. Silva in the 2nd.
    Nog in the 3rd.
    Franklin by decision.

It doesn't matter who's in who's head. Whoever goes out and does the best job at executing their game plan and makes the fewest mistakes wins this fight. Jackson isn't a youngster anymore and he's rededicated himself. Plus he has more ways to win. He's a better striker and he can take Silva down and hold him there.

Thank you! What weigh-in did this columnist watch?! If you want to start going with taboos then the last time Silva pushed Chuck at the weigh in, Wandy ended up losing. If we're gonna play that game. Rampage ain't scared of Silva and it'll be on tonite. The winner is the one who makes the fewest mistakes and capitalyzes on the other one's mistakes.

Wait'll you see Rampage's entrance. He's coming in driving his truck. Wandy'll wet his pants! This is one of a few fights that's likely to surpass the weigh in 'drama'. I'm suggesting Wandi come in carrying a long handled double bladed axe to 'one up' the hit&run Rampager.

Yes, Cofield did imply that Rampage backed away from this confrontation out of a reluctance to battle Wand. Cofield knows better, and is just stirring things up for the teenagers on here. This feud will be settled in the cage, and neither Rampage nor Wand will be timid or fearful. It should be a great fight.

Regardless of who wins, its gonna be a slugfest. I like both fighters but Wandy more so. I think that UFC shhouldve kept Jackson sidelined until all his legal issues are squared away. That way he can go in there with a clear head.
