Silva could lose license after fighting in Japan

EliteXC heavyweight champion Antonio "Big Foot" Silva (12-1), EliteXC's heavyweight champion defied his one-year suspension due to a positive steroid test and fought on Sunday's Sengoku card at Japan's Saitama Super Arena.

By violating his California suspension, which came after he defeated the late Justin Eilers via knockout on a July card in Stockton, Silva, as well as his cornermen, will be subject to a possible license revocation.

Silva stopped former Japanese national champion wrestler Yoshihiro "Kiss" Nakao (7-2) in just 1:42 by blowing him out with mostly low kicks.

Bill Douglas, the interim head of the California State Athletic Commission, stated he was notifying all athletic commissions of both Silva and his cornermen’s actions, and setting a Feb. 10 date for a hearing. A license revocation would mean Silva, and his corner men, would be banned from fighting in all U.S. commission states until California granted him a new license, which would be no less than one year from the date of it being revoked. Such an action would force whatever form EliteXC that potentially resurfaces this year to strip Silva of the title.

Silva's manager, Alex Davis, was suspended by the California State Athletic Commission for the remainder of his license, which expires on July 23, and fined $2,500 for negotiating the fight. He has the right to appeal.

Silva was one of two EliteXC heavyweights who fought on the card. Top contender Dave "Pee Wee" Herman (13-1) was upset by a second round stoppage against former South Korean wrestling champion Choi Mu Bae (8-3), after being overwhelmed with a flurry of punches.

    I just got back into the office today after a long holiday weekend! I wanted to thank everyone for a fun 2008 on the message boards and to wish everyone a happy 2009. Here is my top 10 reasons to be thankful in the Yahoo/MMA blogging world for 2008.
    1. Being able to talk about everything UFC - The meca of all things MMA, the Jerusalem of NHB fighting with Dana White as MMA's baby Jesus.
    2. New, old worlds resurfacing like; lateral, Noob and clitty litter.
    3. Learning that only in America can you run your Monster truck onto a sidewalk, run from police, while nearly hitting innocent bystanders and have a BRAND NEW EXCUSE for it - delirium.
    4. Any fight, blog, picture or post with Gina Carerra.
    5. The rise and fall of Kimbo Slice
    6. Fedor
    7. Knowing and seeing the end is near for past champions (and not soon enough): Hughes, Couture and Liddel.
    8. Talking to the most insightful, original, intelligent and controversial bloggers (we don't always have to agree); Nutcracker, someoneplzKOandersonsilva, chano, darkness, vudusup, james c, dana f, ican, haha, knuckle sandwich, beardown and others.
    9. and the worst: JTAKEO, Ricky C.
    10. Induction to the Usual Suspects.

    hahaha. i really think the great white is gay and has a crush on me. very flattering.
    as i have stated numerous times, i said that i could argue overeem being the number 2 heavyweight. the great white decides to go crazy, cheat in his picks and then go off about overeem. i wouldn't be shocked if he named his adopted son (can't have kids with another male) jtakeo11 overeem. in regards to your comments about eddie alvarez...... i could care less who won that fight, i was just hoping it would last longer than it did. i would have been happy and upset whoever won that fight. 2 of the best middleweights, fighting in the best organization to showcase middleweights, can't get much better than that. oh and i wanted to see who gina carerra was, couldn't find her, noob. get out of here you loser.

    Silva shouldn't even be allowed to have that name. He is a disgrace to MMA. He and his whole team should be banned from the sport. Eilers and the others that contribute to this guys W total should be credited a W to their records. That would give Eilers the farewell he and any TRUE MMA ARTIST deserves....jtakeo11- Are you seriously calling yourself an MMA fan, but don't know who Gina Carrano is?...Really? Stop typing with one hand and pay attention to the future of the sport. Womens MMA is the next big wave. Get with the program or turn it off. No half way fans here, son.

    Great White. Thanks for the kind words.. Even though we agree to disagree, it is always a fun debate on here.. Unfortunately, there are marginalized tards like Jtakeo boasting of his gambling winnings throwing a retarded wrench into the equation.. I was thinking, why dont the Usual Suspects start their own blog???? WE could put a charge into the a$$ of blogs like this one..

    The Great White........Thanks for the kind words.
    Silva knew that there would be potential consequences for his fight but the bottom line was $$$. Either he is being pointed in the wrong direction by his manager/team or there is just more to the whole picture that we're not hearing. So, a one year suspension could turn into a 2+? I smell a court case on the horizon.

    hey who cares ? if the guy couldn't fight here in the states i say good for him to go elsewhere and make some coin. it dont affect none of us where this guy goes to make the coin, you all would do the same thing if you had to! secondly whoever made that bone headed comment that EILERS would or might still be alive if not for this guy your a complete idiot plz never post here again. last but not least hope these things happen in the upcoming year,
