Silva, Dewees suspended for steroid use

Elite XC heavyweight champion Antonio Silva and Affliction middleweight Edwin Dewees were suspended for a year by the California Athletic Commission on Thursday after each failed a post-fight urinalysis.

Silva, who knocked out Justin Eilers in the second round on July 26 in Stockton, Calif., to win the inaugural EXC heavyweight belt, tested positive for the anabolic steroid Boldenone, commission spokesman Bill Douglas said.

Douglas said Silva has been suspended until July 26, 2009, and fined $2,500. He'll also likely be stripped of the Elite XC championship.

Dewees, who was stopped in the first round by Antonio Rogerio Nogueira on the July 19 Affliction card at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif., tested positive for the anabolic steroid Nandrolone.

He has been suspended until July 19, 2009, and fined $2,500.

The commission also announced that Nogueria, heavyweights Fedor Emelianenko, Tim Sylvia and Justin Eilers and Elite XC welterweight champion Jake Shields all passed their drug tests.

William Jacobsen, who fought on the Elite XC show on Aug. 15 in Friant, Calif., failed to take his scheduled test for drugs of abuse and was suspended indefinitely.

You really think that these idiots know anything more about steroids then, if you do them they make you strong. Not likely. Not only that but how can you go into a fight...and actually concentrate on the fight when you know your gona be cought. Its just amazing the things fighters do. At this rate EliteXC is gona be gone. As soon as someone with some actual talent and not a golf ball in their ear for a target fights Kimbo and destroys him people are gona start wanting real MMA. Right now that is still UFC and will remain that way. Unless Affliction can get fedor to fight in every PPV. That and maybe ortiz will stop asking for floyd mayweather money and win a fight so he can get some respect back. He's been pounded harder then his girlfriend in his last couple of matches haha.

Good thing they can't test Antonio Silva for gH. With his acromegaly, I'm sure his gh production is off the charts.

Suspend his a$$. It's not allowed, they know it isn't, throw them out. Let them go back to making a living like the rest of us. That should apply to all sports!

Sad. I was expecting Cyborg's wife to test positive. I'm sure she's on something else. I feel sorry for Gina Carano when they meet. She's going to pound her pretty face into oblivion.

Ummm... drugs are bad um'kay... But in this case, I'd like to see Kimbo and Tito juice up like two little high school wanna be's and then fight each other! I mean all kinds of stuff - steroids, meth, pcp, and mabye a double martini and a shot of rot gut tequilla right before the fight and see what happens. That's about the ONLY way you'll get me to sit thru a Kimbo or Tito fight anymore.

what about jenna vs carano in a high-heeled match w/ swing dild's instead of gloves? at this point tito is going to have to fight women to put one in the win column. kimbo's beard must smell like a crow-pecked raccoon carcass festering in the midday sun. eliteXC is an effin' joke; soon they'll be signing todd bridges to fight danny bonaduce. Oh wait...

Unwrecked...just so I'm clear. You think there is a responsible and safe way to use steriods? Are you talking short or long term? I would like to know how you take them without health risks.

Unwrecked (genius) first off in an earlier post you said alcohol could be worse then steroids (post 7) then in post 15 you compare steroids to alcohol in a positive manner, you sure know how to construct an argument. Also I'm pretty sure you take steroids (you must have some really nice raisin like balls and lactating breasts) from how you seem to know everything? So you apparently have done tons of tests and they were all long term studies right? LOL . I'm still laughing "John you are obviously an idiot who doesn't know the difference between using roids in a responsible way, and some idiot like Benoit who was cycling up and down on massive amounts of Test." I was unaware you worked for the FDA. By the way a meth addict could make the same argument you are.

Unwrecked, I'm rather alarmed by your logic and attitude regarding steriod use Alcohol and smoking aren't illegal. Besides what does alcohol or smoking have to do with illegal performance enhancing drugs. So if your own child was taking steriods you wouldn't have a problem with that. Just for my information what is a safe dosage and for how long. How do you know there won't be long term health consequences. Are there some studies that you can point to that will support your assertions.

Roids equal tiny balls. It's a fact.
If you're old, you already have tiny balls, so go for it.
If you're young, under 50 say, just work out and diet and get all manned up the hard way.
