Rogers calls out Kimbo, shreds Shamrock

Brett Rogers is definitely not a company man. EliteXC passed over 'The Grim' to give 44-year old Ken Shamrock the next shot at Kimbo Slice. That had Rogers steaming mad when he and his handlers decided to release a statement to the Five Ounces of Pain blog.

I don't think Rogers (pictured) will be doing a media tour on behalf of the promotion to pimp the Oct. 4 CBS show after this diatribe.

Rogers feels cheated:

"As for Oct 4th; that was our spot. Shamrock with his name and giant ego butted in line to get a slice of Kevin. At 103 years of age Ken usurped our rightful place against the YouTube champ. Our sincerest hope is that Ken whips Kimbo and then we can finally euthanize the "World's Most Dangerous Man" and relegate him to some MMA dinosaur exhibit. Maybe taxidermy him and (Dan) Severn and place them on a rotating pedestal where they can endless circle each other.

He says one can only imagine how big the Kimbo myth will get with a victory over Shamrock:

If Ken proves to be more sham [than] rock and Fergi beats him, then the Slice hype grows even greater. Dude is already more myth [than] Sasquatch, Chupacabra and a [expletive] unicorn combined. Kevin is the black Yeti.

Rogers even goes as far as saying Kimbo isn't really from the mean streets. We see Kimbo duking it out on YouTube with some rough-looking characters in Miami. 'The Grim' says that's all bull:

Kimbo made it a point to go frontin' to our boys at Big Black. But that street thug B.S. might work well with the fan bois and the Internet dorks who think your street cred means something; but Son ... Brett comes from Cabrini Green; the worst 12 blocks of America. Compared to that your street is Sesame Street."

Rogers (8-0) also does a nice job of dropping a 'Jurassic MMA' line about Kimbo potentially cleaning house with Keith Hackney, Harold Howard and Fred Ettish.

'The Grim' has a right to be angry and this is quality smack talk that he's directing at both Kimbo and Shamrock. But does he really have the fighting pedigree to make these digs? Who is Brett Rogers? He's an out-of-shape looking 6-foot-5 dude with no proof of a ground game. His quality wins are against Jon Murphy and James Thompson. Butterbean also counts Thompson as a quality win.

Rogers' eight wins have come against guys with a combined 34-43 record and that includes two dudes who are 0-1. Among his "big" wins were three guys (VIDEO) who wore wife beaters to the cage and another who has the build of 'Playboy' Buddy Rose.

Could Rogers beat anyone in the WAMMA Top 15 -- Fedor Emelianenko, Antonio Nogueira, Josh Barnett, Randy Couture, Andrei Arlovski, Tim Sylvia, Fabricio Werdum, Gabe Gonzaga, Cro Cop, Ben Rothwell, Aleks Emelianenko, Cain Velasquez, Roy Nelson, Brock Lesnar and Cheick Kongo? Speaking to one Las Vegas oddmaker, all of these fighters would be at least -300 against Rogers. In fact, I'd be willing to say Rogers couldn't beat one of the "fossils" that he mentioned, Dan Severn.

This is all starting to reek of Double-A baseball players talking trash or Jose Canseco raining smack on Vai Sikahema. Actually, add Sikahema to the list of guys who could probably beat Kimbo and Rogers.

"Fergi"???? This dude might as well grap a sharpie and a chunk of cardboard and fall in line with the homeless guys and beg for money, beer or a fight. Whaaa!!! I got bumped of the fight card!! Whaaa!!!! Nobody knows who I am!!!! Whaaa!!!! They won't tune in anyway!!!! I do like the Cabrini Green comment though. But if he is talking about the Cabrini Green in Chi-town; it doesn't exist anymore!!

Allow me to clarify...... I didn't mean that it was gone completely but a bulk of it was dozed down for condos. Part of mayor Daley's "urban renewal project." Still tons of crackheads though. I stopped at the WhiteCastle after the Sox game when I was out there in June.

Isn't this the guy who is being "promoted" by Big Black? Go sign with Affliction and beat Andrei Arlovski or Rothwell if your that "bad" of a man? You got Big Black sponsoring you so leave if you're unhappy. Stop showing that you're a "rookie" and quit flapping your gums cry baby. Since when did bad mouthing other fighters (the ones you don't and probably won't face) become an acceptable way to hype up fights or get any knd of pub?

Brett has the type of 6'5" body built by weights and limited cardio, with no supplements. Someone needs to clue him onto the Brock Lesnar juice-your-friggin-head-off diet and he'll start looking more fit.

All of these MMA guys are hatin on Kimbo because he is popular and hasn't "paid his dues". What they are failing to realize is he's is exposing MMA to a lot of people who don't watch it. He's doing them all a favor in the long run. Us true MMA fans know that Kimbo isn't ready to take on the top guys. After reading about Rogers, what makes him any different than Kimbo minus the publicity? Bottom line Kimbo is only going to help make MMA more popular, so they should all stop crying!

One more thing. According to the numbers, Kimbo is Elite XC's biggest draw. They have the TV contract with CBS, so you can't blame them for giving him winable fights, against guys he could potentially knock out until he's ready to face the top guys. They have to do what's necessary to make money seeing how they are going out of business soon anyway!

That was an amazing rip of ken shamrock, he's ruining his legacy. I wouldn't be suprised if shamrock can woop either one these tomato cans. There is no point in ripping kimbo, he's a circus act, the fact the guy needs to ride his stardom to as much money as he can make, before his star fades which should be early 2009. The guy has kids he's gotta fee.

    a few thoughts
1: we wouldnt be talking about brett rodgers if he couldnt talk smack with the best of them
2:brett rodgers might not be able to beat the top 15, but he would ruthlessly destroy kimbo
3:ken shamrock is hoping for a submission win due to kimbos atrocious ground game. hope bas rutten has been busy or kimbos goin to the hospital with a broken something(ankle? knee? i cant wait)
4:if kimbo has improved at all, shamrock is gonna get rocked, and knocked, straight the hell out.
5:9 of 10 posters on yahoo would kill to have rodgers build. bunch of scrawny geeks and fat a s s e s here.
6:kimbo should go be a pro wrestler. period. hes old, and slow, but popular and gritty. mcmahon will find a spot for him., and some money too... lesnars spot too most likely. and who could resist that spectacle?

Come on now! It would be a creditable fight if it were Frank Shamerock, but KEN?! Maybe in his hay day but now. No, no, no and hell no! They are making Kimbo out to be a legend killer. He fought an old even more out of shape Tank and the second dude he fought on tv was ready to tap after touching gloves. They need to find he better mid-range fights. Fighting the grand dads of MMA isn't going to instill fear in MMA. It's just gonna make my 80 year old grand father nervous and wet his depends.

thats awesome. i said it a couple weeks ago that he should be the one to fight kimbo next. he should be pis$ed. i mean, afterall he did call kimbo out face to face at the press conference after their last fight. who is brett rogers? exactly. hes an mma fighter trying to get recognized and make a name for himself. so he calls out and wants to fight the one guy in that $hitty organization that will do that for him. that guy being kimbo slice. so what does elite xc do. they give him the shaft and let some guy who is already established in mma. hes so established that hes been retired for 5 years. thats retarded. hes undefeated and they screwed one of their own fighters over to let ken shamrock embarrass them further. nice. miami is cushy, softer than sherbet.

That IS some very articulate trash-talking. Well done. I like the Harold Howard reference too.
The only problem I have is the dig at Severn, who while "old" is still winning regularly.

Kimbo tapped in the first round against Thompson. At 2:47 the fight should have been stopped. The ref went in and Slice said he was OK and didn't want to tap, but he already hit Thompson's elbow several times. I'm sure the rules state if you tap, it's over, regardless of what you say or do afterward.

Well theres the next fight, if Kimbo wins....lets see Rogers V. Slice. Maybe EliteXC wont hide or run from putting him against someone that wants to fight him since Rogers came public wtih his talk. But i doubt it will happen because he's not 44, knows how to fight and doest have Alien Ears. I'm just sick of the talk of Slice as the next big thing....Lesnar...ok, Slice...not even close.

I don't think Kimbo is too old. Couture is in his ******* 40's and everyone still wants to see him fight "the best fighter in the world". C'mon, you can't be bias just because you don't like the guy. And comparing him to top fighters is ridiculous. Of course he's not a top fighter. And Rodgers shouldn't be talking either. Kimbo looks more impressive than he does. I think it's going to be Ken with a submission in the first round. And if not, Kimbo by knockout in the second.
