B.J. Penn is an amazing talent but is he on the level where size simply won't matter in his fight against Georges St. Pierre at UFC 94? GSP will probably climb into the cage tonight with a 15 pound weight advantage. By the sounds and looks of it, GSP is not your normal welterweight when it comes to brute strength. The guys rolls regularly with 205-pounders Keith Jardine, and the division's title holder, Rashad Evans. "Sugar" told Cage Writer that GSP is no joke:
"You'd be a fool to believe that. That dude is stronger than most of the 205ers I've went against. Whenever we go, it's a battle."
This GSP may feel much different than the one Penn faced in 2006:
"Not only is he too strong but he has the strength that lasts. It's not just one of those guys who is strong and it dies out after the first round."
Evans thinks it's important for GSP to mix things up and when they do exchange on the feet, St. Pierre has to be the last one punching.
It also sounds more and more like Evans will face the winner of Lyoto Machida-Thiago Silva. Evans is excited to get a shot at Machida and he joked about how to actually track down the very elusive Brazilian.

And I can't stand Machida's lame karate fights. Outpointing a guy is smart and effective, but boring as hell. You can be an MMA fan and still like aggressiveness.

and the weight difference is probably going to fare better for him than it did in their first fight. don't think for one second they were the same size then either. bj's frame is made to be a lightweight so when they fought before all that extra weight from 155 to 170 was likely to be very little muscle mass and mostly fat/water weight (and he was cutting very little thus regaining very little after weigh-ins), supported by bj's lack of conditioning in the past. now that he's lighter he's still got the same strength and faster speed that he dominated gsp with in the first round, and he's got less baggage to carry around with him coupled with better cardio to sustain that pace. i think bj definitely has the advantage with his physical gifts, confidence and skillset, he just needs have the gas tank to apply it for up to 5 rounds if that's what it takes.
