There were plenty of big name fighters hanging out at the Strikeforce weigh-in on Friday including the promotion's heavyweight champ. A 224-pound Alistair Overeem bolted for Japan after his big win over Paul Buentello back in November of 2007. After some overtures from the UFC (also appeared on Dana White's UFC 93 vlog - 6:12 mark), Overeem is sticking with Strikeforce as his stateside promotion.
He told Jarry Park's Ariel Helwani that he's on the St. Louis card on June 6. He did not name an opponent but Strikeforce sources indicated that Brett Rogers might be the opponent if he takes care of business against Ron Humphrey tonight in San Jose. Overeem mentioned Affliction fighters Fedor Emelianenko, Josh Barnett and Andrei Arlovski as desired opponents in the future.
The now 253-pound Overeem is an imposing figure at 6-foot-5. Over the course of 22 months, he's graduated from the 205 division to become a big heavyweight. At the 2:10 mark, Helwani does a good job of addressing the steroid rumors swirling around Overeem.
The June 6 card is looking pretty solid. The main event is Robbie Lawler versus Jake Shields. Phil Baroni is slated to fight Joe Riggs. Babalu is on the card against Rafael Cavalcante.

Nut, you want to see an MMA guy who can actually strike--watch Belfort! He has an untraditional southpaw stance with serious KO power. Nice, clean, crisp striking--good foot work, good head movement.
The only potential down fall to Belfort is that, last I heard, he was training with Randy in LV. And, well, lets just say that I don't think Randy and his camp is "tops." But, those of you who know me have heard my reasons for that claim, thus I shall not repeat them here.
