It's been an adventure the last few times out for the combatants in the biggest fight in women's MMA history. Tomorrow night in San Jose, Gina Carano battles Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos. They seemed to have learned their lesson from past weigh-in debacles, training hard and making sure they were on point for today's Strikeforce weigh-in. Both were required to be at the 145-pound limit. Carano and Cyborg easily made it, weighing 143 and 144.5, respectively. But it didn't mean they weren't relieved as both fighters let out big sighs and were all smiles. When Jimmy Lennon announced Carano was 143 (1:47 mark), the fans in attendance let out a big roar. Carano leaned over laughing.

Cyborg missed badly in her last fight weighing at 152 pounds. One or two pounds over happens from time to time but missing by seven pounds is outrageous. Cyborg went on to cut to a workable limit but later blamed the miss on "female issues." Carano has also missed weight on several occasions. The most infamous was before a CBS MMA show back in October of 2008 when she missed by 2 3/4 pounds. Carano was forced to weigh-in naked behind a towel, that unfortunately was dropped by her father, Glenn Carano, who was holding one of the corners. Things got more bizarre when allegations emerged that former EliteXC promoter Jared Shaw was sneaking a peak at the naked Carano.

This is the first major fight promotion to feature a female main event. Carano has been dubbed "The Face of Women's MMA" after appearing in two of the most watched MMA cards in the sports history on CBS. She was recently a cast member on American Gladiators. Carano, a Las Vegas resident, is unbeaten at 7-0 while the Brazilian Cyborg, is a winner of seven straight. Cyborg is roughly a 2-to-1 favorite to win the fight according to Las Vegas sportsbooks.

Only one fighter missed weight. Jesse Taylor, who was a late replacement for Nick Diaz, in a fight against Jay Hieron. Taylor missed the 170 limit at 172 pounds. The California State Athletic Commission nearly had a disaster when Taylor was offered water by his camp on stage immediately after weighing in. Official quickly wised up and realized that he was going to have cut one more pound before he'd be allowed to fight Hieron. Taylor only began cutting weight earlier this week having to drop roughly seven pounds in 3 1/2 days. The miss isn't shocking. He was contacted by Strikeforce last Friday and officially found out late Monday that he was on the card.
