If you only catch one fight from the Bellator Fighting Championships, held in Chicago on Friday night, watch Kerry Vera's unanimous decision over Leslie Smith. The two women engaged in a brutal, nonstop slugfest.

Vera, the wife of UFC fighter Brandon Vera, had her debut tonight, though she had fought in kickboxing matches in the past. Her kicks were as brutal as her husbands, and she was unrelenting for the entire fight. Leslie Smith, in just her second pro bout, had several memorable exchanges, including one where she caught Vera's leg and waylaid her with punches.

This fight was the biggest argument for women fighting for longer than three, three-minute rounds. Vera and Smith did not relent during the fight, and the raucous crowd at the packed Aragon Ballroom clearly wanted more. As the fight ended, they gave a standing ovation, and were so loud that I could barely hear the music blaring from the speakers.

The fight will air on Saturday night on ESPN Deportes at 9 p.m. ET, and will be on Bellator's Web site by Wednesday. Watch this fight. You will not be disappointed.

UPDATE: Read on for videos of the fights.

I would like to see Kyle Maynard cross over into Womens MMA. Hard enough for him to beat able bodied men ,but with women, anything is possible. I really enjoy the intensity these ladies bring to the sport. Granted all may not have world class skills but they all have the same thing in common. These batches beat the $hit out of each other. Bah No ESPN Deportes here. Gotta wait till Wed.
Don't know why anyone is surprised that the women fights are more exciting. Chick fights in high school were always more vicious. LMAO. Alot of these fights remind me of Rocky movies. NO DEFENSE AT ALL but alot of rock 'em sock 'em offense.
    ROFL @ Kyle vs Gina.

maynard4president. you should banned from yahoo forums forever. kyle maynard was a standout wrestler in high school who competed in the georgia championships. He posted a 35-16 wrestler without forearms and lower legs. what makes you think a woman would even stand a chance against him when bryan fry couldnt even put him down? regardless that bryan fry is some no name mma fighter, maynard still took it a decision.

bobby d Not sure where you gathered you intel but Maynard LOST via a decision. It was scored 30-27. People who do not have their facts straight ,need to be banned. Did you just make that outcome up off the top of your head? Or are you the fool that just speaks of what he has heard from others. In either case ,your a waste of Oxygen.

    Maynard4president-
I have enjoyed reading your insight on things in the past, but this is by far your greatest work. That picture says it all. I would soccer style kick Maynard in the temple if I fought the quad. I think he should fight Gina next as well. He would take her down to the mat and nub her bean. Gerkinstien

maynard. by put him down i mean k.o./submit him. hence the statement maynard took it to a decision. hangout in the gym a little bit, learn some mma terms, then come n talk to me. and oh yeah, rather messed up your next comment was about putting him down. although it made me chuckle at the same time ^_^

MAYNARD4PRESIDENT: I know your having fun with the idea of a crossover for Maynard but it could easily be mistaken for crude humor. Like john S said I enjoy some of your insights on other forums. I don't wear my heart on my sleeve so I can appreciate a good laugh it's just dude don't have full limbs and still get the job done. So how could you kick him when he's down, like you said he's been down his WHOLE LIFE. I caught this guy story on espn (I think) and was shocked! IMO I don't think its fair to others in MMA to have to fight him. You literally have to fight in his world on his terms. I mean you can't kick him or punch him. So what's next? Wrestling and submissions? Not MMA if it's not mixed. Can you imagine what the world will say if someone smash this dude? The vice versa effect don't apply here c'mon, I can see wrestling ( cause I've seen him) but MMA is a whole new ball game.

Kyle Maynard's story went from inspirational to idiotic the second he stepped in the cage. Simply a publicity stunt put on by himself or someone in his camp. He might not have arms or legs but he appears to have a fully functional brain and anyone with one of those knew the fight was going to play out EXACTLY like it did.

I always say take what you can do best and do it. Makes no difference male or female.
What a fight, would pay to watch that it shows a lot of skill and work.

I don't know much about MMA, but is there a chance they would ever have a fight of a woman vs. a man in similar weight classes? I know women weigh less and matching them up against a heavy weight would not work, but is it possible you could match a 140 pound woman versus a 120 pound man?
Would the woman have a chance? They could market a fight like this as man vs. woman, ect....

and what exactly is the point of putting two morons in a cage and slugging each other? OH WAIT, it teaches discipline, self-control, balance, self-discovery right?! yes...because theres no other way to learn that stuff.
i mean, this stuff is obviously NOT about fighting, right?!?!?!?! the crowd is cheering because theyre glad to see two ladies showing self control and discipline, right?!?!?!?!
    lol. losers
