The ink is barely dry on the police report and media folks are already calling for Quinton Jackson's head. Jackson was involved in a hit & run chase with police Tuesday afternoon. He was arrested by the Costa Mesa police and bailed out by UFC president Dana White.

Frank Trigg, a former UFC fighter, Affliction television analyst and host of TAGG radio says White has to drop the hammer on Jackson if the charges stick:

"There's always consequences," said Trigg (pictured on the right). A guy like Dana has to hold everyone to a higher standard. Especially with a guy like (UFC owner) Lorenzo Fertitta in the office full-time. It may be a one-time offense. I don't think Rampage meant to do these things but he did something wrong and needs to be reprimanded."

You can hear the entire Trigg interview plus his take on the Affliction card HERE.

If Jackson suffers no penalty it sets a bad precedent according to Trigg:[YSP:MORE}

"If you're pulling a guy out like Jesse Taylor out (of the Ultimate Fighter 7 Finale)...they canceled his contract and gave him three months to think about it. If this (Rampage case) goes to court, (White) has to cancel his contract. If you're acting like an idiot outside your sport you should pay."

Trigg also said UFC has to weigh the risk of dropping Jackson from his contract. It's not like the old days of UFC domination. There's a strong chance as a free agent Jackson could easily sign with Elite XC, Affliction, Stikeforce, etc.

    Frank is hanging off Afflictions nuts as of now, of course he wants them to drop Rampage so affliction can pick off the floor and make him feal all beter. Comments from him reguarding the UFC should be swept under the rug.

    He's just out living the dream- let him fight but fine him at the most- it's not like he can't make mistakes outside the ring. this is just another stunt that is staged anyways- it just brings more drama and excitement to the ufc and makes everyone wonder if griffin takes the title who would have really won- it's just some hype to build up the next fight.

    I am behind on fights- just got off vacation in mountains- maybe since forrest won he felt like he was out of the spotlight and could go out and let loose for a while. this is typical american attitude- once someone is out of the top spot everyone hates them. a lot of people around this country are fair weather fans. everyone makes mistakes- leave him alone and let him deal with the problems he has gotten himself into. no matter what happens to him he will be o.k. if he gets fired he can move on and build up another fight company anyways. he has worked himself into a position to where he can get away with alot- but he isn't spears or lohan- you won't see something like this happen from him again

    The best punishment would've been Dana NOT posting bail.

    Heh, post #6 Derrick M you got that right! Man, it's too bad....I really liked Rampage. He has one of the best personalities in sports and is someone you can see hanging out with. But wow, this is no simple 'mistake' and not a petty happening. Jackson could EASILY have killed people during this episode. That's why it's a felony crime to do what he did. Unfortunately he's going to have some jail time for this. He can still fight for the UFC afterwards though I think. Afterall, didn't Chris Leben go to jail for several months during his UFC contract? He's still in the mix.

    I feel if this all comes out to be an accurate account of the actions that took place. Then, the UFC has no option but to suspend him base on what they did to the kid on the ultimate fighter. With that said I think outside issues should have nothing to do with his job. IF it doesn't effect his job than it shouldn't be up to his job to punish him. If he goes to jail or probation and it prohibits him from traveling or fulfilling an UFC manatory event or promotion than they should take action. I hate when Major sports feel they should take the law into there hands. IF this had happened at a UFC event yes, but on the streets wait until it has an effect on his performance before issuing out fines and cutting him from the roster. Just my opinion.

    Also just cause media prints it and everyone reacts doesn't mean it really happen or happen the way they wrote it. If he did then he messed up but until he is convicted or says Man i messed and isses out all the I'm sorries. then I will say his story may be different and the real story.

    at least rampage was not the champ when this all went down non the less UFC needs to hit him with a hard punishment an set an example so other fighters will think twice i expect alot of organizations to bash UFC trigg and affliction are just the first of many

    Frank is a has been, so he has to take any opportunity that he can to say something controversial to make headlines.
    As for Rampage? Well Rampage's actions were private and had nothing to do with the UFC, unlike that moron on TUF who tried to take on everyone at a casino.
    These guys are fighters, they will get into trouble with the law. The UFC won't drop him or suspend him.

    It's PTSS coming out after Griffin fight. Did he hit those cars after being, or while being or before being chased by the cops? Likely feared all those police would go Rodney on him. Those people in those cars were probably all white and thus got what they deserved by getting in the way of his flight to freedom. Probably tried to run him down, there in honky land. Bet they didn't realize it was Rampage they were dealing with. You go Rambopage!
