The war of words of has begun and the fighters haven't even landed at the Mandalay Bay for UFC 100. Frank Mir has a way of getting under a guy's skin and he's done the job with Brock Lesnar. In what will probably be his last lengthy interview, the UFC heavyweight champ was asked repeatedly about Mir's harsh words for his training, trainers, cardio and completeness as a fighter, but Lesnar didn't go nuts in the conversation with Larry Pepe from ProMMARadio but he did have his moments. The big guy said Mir is afraid of this fight (0:20 mark):

"That's the first sign of someone who's flat out scared. After the first fight, Frank admitted that he was getting his ass beat. Frank said 'you know I've never been hit that hard in my entire life.' It's coming again and I think he's scared. I've seen these guys like this before. When that door gets shut there nobody to run his mouth to, you'll see a whole other of Frank Mir."

Lesnar thinks Mir is jealous. Lesnar says he has the real belt and makes more money:

"I've been dealing with jealous people all my life. He's out running his mouth because there's a lot of insecurities. I'm not making fun of his trainers or making fun of him. He has every right to be jealous. Just two fights in and I'm the champ."

Pepe did a nice job of bringing up the fact that lots of fighters have questioned his credibility as the champ, that included former UFC champ Tim Sylvia:

"That says a lot for the sport, ouch. Just keep taking your foot out of your mouth Swamp Thing," Lesnar said commenting on Sylvia's 10 seconds loss to 48-year-old Ray Mercer. "I just stay focused on the task in front of me. All this stuff your bringing up, this is why I don't surf the internet. I really don't care. I'm doing what I love to do. I could give two whatevers about whatever people think of me."

Lesnar mentioned towards the end of the interview that he's a very lean 269 pounds with four days left before the fight.

I'm hoping Mir wins but Brock's strength and size may be the difference. UFC 100 should be a good card but I've said that about the last several pay-per-views I've watched. The fights on free tv have actually been better than the ppv fights. The names on tv may not be as big as the ones on ppv but the fights have been much better. Affliction's card looks good too but they don't get enough press/publicity. Strikeforce cards have also sounded pretty good and from reading the reports, the fights have been good. Big names don't automatically mean great fights. The fighters in the UFC better start putting on better fights on ppv or they won't get my money anymore. I'm an MMA fan and I like watching good fights. Unfortunately, I don't get to see too many since I don't have Showtime and won't pay for an Affliction ppv just yet.

Brock sounds focused. I hope Mir plans on taking Loyoto Machida's Tito Ortiz fight approach where he runs most of the time or he is in for some hurt!

Mir is going to break one of Lesnar's legs off. Don't be surprised if this is over by the middle of round 2.

I don't know JJ, I have enjoyed the last few UFC PPVs and don't feel that Strikeforce is anywhere near that level, not right now.

I'd rather see blowout matches between guys at the top of the sport than close matches between middle-of-the-road fighters.
Obviously, that's not the case in the Fedor-Barnett, Mousasi-Babalu, or Santiago-Belfort fights...but it is for the rest of that card.
Strikeforce is obviously putting together matches between the top fighters that they have under contract in their divisions, but the talent just isn't there.
Nate Diaz and Joe Riggs would both get creamed by GSP and Alves. Melendez and Thomson would both get creamed by any of UFC's top 5 lightweights.

Rob R - I would have to agree. I remember watching the Liddell-Couture III fight. Liddell ended it pretty quick but there was so much electricity it was awesome! Much better than a Lytle 3 round bar fight!

the affliction cards aren't worth the purchase(production is weak and very few quality fighters)... your better off going to a buffalo wild wings and catching it... strikeforce is a much better production and you can see the fights on showtime... still only a few top level guys, but the cards are easier to watch...
fedor and barnett are the only 2 good heavyweights not in the ufc.. mousasi and belfort could compete in the middleweight division and give anderson a run... jake sheilds needs to make the move to the ufc cuz no other org. has anyone that compete with him... i think thomson and melendez are pretty talented and outside of bj than can compete with every other guy in the light weight division

She's Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos. Married to Evangelista "Cyborg" Santos...not Santiago.

Clint - I don't think Machida was exactly running lol. But Mir should, and most likey will take the approach that Machida did use, stick and move. Brock should, and probably will take the approach of setting up a takedown with a right-hand and try to control it on the ground without getting careless.

I know Strikeforce and Affliction aren't at UFC's level yet. I just think some of the recent matchups have sounded good. It would be nice if these two organizations could maintain because there are fighters not in the UFC that are worth watching. I've just been disappointed with a few of the recent ppv's. After I watched the ppv w/ Franklin vs. Wanderlei Silva, I wasn't impressed. The main event was a good fight but none of the other fights really were worth the purchase price of the ppv and the fights on the ultimate finale were better than that ppv. I just hope UFC 100 produces good fights. The names are there...let's just see some exciting fights.

Hmmm...Lesnar's already at 269? Guess the final cut won't be too bad. Also guess he won't be walking into the cage at 280.
Not sure how that affects the fight...though if I'm Brock I'd probably rather be energized and 270 than exhausted and 280. Mir's not going to like being pushed around by 270 Brock any more than he would be getting pushed around by 280 Brock.

All u lesnar fans need to realize ur talking about a guy that has 2 years mma experience vs. a guy who has had a blackbelt since age 12. Remember when Silva wouln't tap against Mir? Mir broke his arm in 2. I see a submission or quite possibly a high-light reel broken arm or leg, if lesnar has too much pride to tap out. Believe me 240lbs vs. 270 is not that big a difference. Mir still owns every weightlifting record@ Bonanza high school in las vegas. At 2 1/2 : 1 odds vegas is giving away free money. Book it. Mir's experience will come into play.

It will be an interesting bout...I do feel their first match Brock looked horrible. His stand has improved however, Mir's stand up looked awesome against Big Nog. I really feel Mir wants to stand. I feel that if they do stand, Mir will have the advantage and will get the win. As crazy as it sounds, Lesner needs to take this to the ground. Lesner is very good at posting up and do feel he can inflict enough damage and keep away from the submissions. Either way, I expect it to be an entertaining night.

Brock Lesnar was DESTROYING Mir last time. He made an amateur mistake and Frank Mir got lucky that he made it and was able to capitalize. A year and a half later, after training with some of the best jujitsu guys in the world, I would be very surprised to see that happen again. Brock Lesnar by complete annihilation (and possible fatality) in the first round.
