Jesse Finney has been a huge part of the Strikeforce card in St. Louis from the beginning. He owns Finney's MMA, a local gym, and also promotes locally. He helped Strikeforce put together the undercard, and fought on it himself against Jesse Bumgarner.

Finney lived up to his own hype, owning Bumgarner in their brief bout. Finney had strong standup early, then took Bumgarner down. He finished with a keylock submission at 1:55 in the first. Finney thanked the crowd afterwards, predicting that future events in St. Louis would be a success due to the large, raucous crowd.

Jesse Finney has been around for ever it's about time he finally got a high profile fight....that said the slug he fought didn't show me anything.....he could have beat on a random guy off the street.

Kudos to Jesse Finney for being a warrior and getting into the cage! As far as his opponent being a "slug", that comment is very disrespectful to anyone that trains hard and tries to compete! Any fighter can be beat, and any fighter can have a bad day!

obviously if you don't find interest on here, but comment anyway to make yourself sound intelligent then you yourself are searching for a moral boost. these guys are breaking and pushing their bodies to the limit.. o but i forgot.. you working your nine for five, coming home to either a wife that you find loveless, or your just a lonely out of shape fool... your words fall on ears that will ridicule you. I'm glad you don't take pride in this sport... stick to little league and juice boxes sweetheart, obviously you were made fun of too much in high school to understand pride...

Jesse Finney owned this guy and anyone who saw the fight knows that Finney looked like a man on a mission. Internet sites where saying that JOSH Bumgarner was going to knock him out, and he didn't even come close. As for him being a slug... as someone said above anyone who is willing to get into the octagon is a warrior... and Josh Bumgarner did it 7 times as a pro without getting beat, that ended as he now has a 7-1 record thanks to Finney. The reason Finney can't get any respect is because he's caught in a catch 22. In St Louis, (which is his home town) he is the man when it comes to the fight game and no one will fight him... Outside of St Louis his now 4-0 record screams he hasn't had enough fights to be considered a legit contender so he couldn't get any of the big dogs to fight him. After this fight the boys at Strikeforce have to have their eyebrows raised and know that they have a big name fighter... who needs a big name challenger. After seeing this fight at the catch weight of 175lbs... I find it hard to find a 170 pound fighter who Jesse Finney could not beat on any given day. MARK MY WORDS... We will see Jesse Finney in the UFC which is the top tier of the fight leagues. I do believe that if he stays healthy he can win the belt at the 170 pound division. I've seen this guy train... I've seen this guy fight. He brings what every fan want to see... and every fan wants to see him against big name fighter. A good start for Strikeforce would be Joe Riggs or Phil Baroni... but only time will tell.

Hey, I train MMA and coach little league. Don't down us all. lol Honestly, anthony is right. I been in MMA for all of 6 years and as hard as I push myself I could never measure up. But then again I love it and my small bouts are worth it. That being said, anyone who is taking part in any sport can appreciate the self-discipline that makes any event a true competition. Without it, you are just playing for fun, that's what my little league kids do. Childish.
As far as the fight, he could have kicked my butt that fast. Atleast, everyone would have expected me to go down fast and I would have had some type of exposure. lol
