There's nothing like winning to bring the George Carlin out of fighters. Rashad Evans, Quinton Jackson and Frank Mir were basking in glow of victory and ripping out their A-material.

Jackson said he couldn't lose to Wanderlei Silva for a third time. If he did, he'd never hear the end of it from his toughest critics:

"When I lose I come back stronger the next time. I look at the fight and say 'man I just got my butt kicked.' It's embarrassing to me. You guys just don't know my family. They make fun of me."

Rashad Evans realized it was time to step on the gas before the third round:

"My coach in the corner was like 'you're down two rounds.' I was like 'I know man, I'm going to start fighting the next round.' Sometimes you rhyme slow, sometimes you rhyme quick. I came out rhyming real slow. But I puilled everything together at the end."

Watch the entire press conference after the jump. Frank Mir was brutally honest saying even he wouldn't have chosen himself to win the fight:

"I can look at the odds. On paper, I wouldn't have given me a chance in the fight. He's the better fighter on paper. Better record, been in against more opponents and that was the monster I knew I had to train for."

Presser begins at 4:02 after Al Bernstein wrap.

Great fight card even though a lot of first round knockouts. Evans should fight Rampage next, the former champ deserves a shot. I was surprised Mir won so quickly. Can't wait for GSP to dismantle Penn. Mangler Out

great fights! nice to see rampage back on a rampage. congrats to evans, forrest is a hard cat to beat. great discipline. mir looked to be in great form. i don't think many people out there can beat him when he's fighting his a game.

Great fights, almost all of the underdogs won. Somebody out there made a mint (I wish i had money to bet). GSP is going to lose BIG TIME. Penn is an absolute beast. He would have beat GSP last time if he didnt start to gas out after the second round. His conditioning is WAY better now, and he's improved more than GSP has since that first fight. Penn is a freak of nature, his flexibility is insane, and he's strong as hell too. Not to mention he's got a great chin, but I think he's going to finish it on the ground. I say choke out in the third round. The question is after Penn beats GSP then what? Kenny Florian is one of my favourite fighters, but if Penn beats GSP then actually fighting Florian is just a formality. He'd beat him easily. If he does that, then he's beat the (second) best fighter in each division, does he move up to middleweight, to face you-know-who. HELL YEAH. You heard it here, early in 2010, after Penn beats both GSP and Ken-Flo it'll be PENN vs. SILVA. One of the best fghts ever. And as good as Penn is, Silva would destroy him. But it'd be entertaining as hell.

    yea mattenglish
thos elbows rampage thru up were a nice defense to axe murderers looping hooks
it was nice to see on the replay
i say match up nog and couture now
also while i hope rampage vs evans happens
rampage has some legal issues lingering so we will see
machida vs thiago silva will be a # 1 contender match
either one of them pose a threat to evans
mir vs lesnar to is gonna be a good match with all of the hype from their first match and mirs rants
i dont think lesnar will make a rookie mistake of leaving his leg out this time
    we will see tho

I was surprised I called every fight especially the big ones. Wanderlei is past his prime and fairly easy to knockout from heavy hitters. Rampage saw that and exploited it. Chuck is half a second to slow these days and that's why he got caught twice. Big Nog is a legend but he's PUNCHY. Why oh why he continues to fight is beyond me. I don't want to see him or Ken Shamrock die or become Parkinson sufferers. I don't know if Forrest was scared or if he had injuries going in but you could tell it wasn't his fight. He wasn't gonna knock Rashad out and his best chance of winning was to take him into deep water which I knew he wouldn't be able to do. Steve Mazzagati is the worse ref ever. Me and my boy kept screaming "STOP THE FIGHT!!!" Kongo could have killed that guy who was way outclassed. And Rashad could have really hurt Griffin.

haha Mister E you idiot. Even if Penn wins, there is NO WAY the UFC lets him jump up another weight class. But thats moot because he wont beat GSP. GSP is the best athlete in the UFC, I think he'll pick Penn apart for a unanimous decision win.

Whatsup Chano, HAHA. Those were pretty decent fights. That was a serious KO on Silva. Maybe it is time for him to hang it up. I knew it was only a matter of time before Evans and Griffin hit the Mat. Griffin kept at it with the Kicks and Evans just waited to catch one and take him down. Griffin on his back had NO answer for anything Evans did. I picked Mir and pulled for him but man I hate to see Nog take a beating like that.
Who you guys taking with Henderson & Franklin? I'm pulling for Henderson and if it hits the mat he might do it, if it stays standing I believe Franklin will take him. I'm taking Henderson. If he loses he might need to join Liddell and Couture into retirement.

hendo vs franklin is hard to call
i really dont no who to chose for that one
franklin is great only lost to machida and silva twice
those two r cream of the crop
hendo is tough as nails too
he too rampage to the limit
and actually won a round against silva HAHA funny how that is a guge accomplishment
i think if i had to choose tho it would be franklin jus due to the fact that he is younger
and has had less beating on his body, hendo also was an olympic greco roman wrestler
so he has had wear in tear
also i really do think nog droppin to the mat was part of his gameplan
he wanted mir to pull guard
complements to mir for noticing and devising a game plan to keep nog standing
i dont think nog, liddell, couture, silva are done at all
maybe as legit title contenders, but they all can still throwdown and are dangerous in the cage
its just that father time is creeping up, and many young guns are up and coming

HAHA, I understand what you're saying about the old timers and retiring. Not yet for Nog but man Liddell has taken a beating dropping three of his last four and two of them by KO. Couture has always been my favorite and man I hate to see him lose at this age. I just don't want them to hang around past their prime making highlight reels for other fighters. They can still fight but I'm sure as ex champs they won't be happy fighting up-and-coming guys, Kind of like a screener for talent I guess to say. Matt Hughes is in the same boat. We're busy as hell at work and I haven't had a chance to look it up yet but did I hear it right, Mark Coleman is fighting Rua on the same card as Franklin-Henderson? That could be a good one as well. I can't wait for Penn-GSP. I'm taking Penn. he made the challenge and is pissed he lost the last one. GSP will bring the game as we know he will but I think Penn will pull it off.

thats another one hard to call
i think i will go with gsp since he is the champ and improves everytime out
penn is a monster too tho and his jab is the best i seen in mma
but i dont think gsp is dumb enough to stand there and get his
he is gonna wrestle bj and try to ground in pound
he will have to watch out tho becuz bj is one of the best in bjj if not they best in ufc also
and yes the hammer coleman vd shogun rua is the co mainevent to the next ufc 93
its gonna be good to see shogun back and see what cleman has left in the tank

BJ PENN will beat GSP, GSP doesnt have that kind of game, He has tricked you in to believing he does. He beat an over the hill matt hughes, matt serra who as we know is not that good, and jon fitch and Kos who isnt on GSP's level. Now BJ is on GSP's level in every aspect of the game, except wrestling ill give the advantage to GSP, but do you really want to mess with BJ on the ground. As long as he comes into the fight in shape he should be okay.

    liddell is hard to call
i think him vs wandy is the next likely match up
    the first was classic
i dont wanna see him vs jardine again
hughes is gonna fight serra soon
hopefully ufc 95 because the main event will be joe daddy vs diego sanchez
i like those two fighters but that isnt much of a main event based of name and recogniton
it should be good but im not sure how much that will sell
hughes vs serra could beef up that card

Good fights this weekend huh? Went 3-2 (damn Al-Turk got wrecked) in my predictions and 3-1 in betting, overall went about 1:2 (bet $4000, make $2000) on the betting....not too bad. I thought it was real nice of Mir to be so humble in his interview after the fight. One thing I will say is this UFC is turning into K1 with all this standing and leg kicks. Where's the ground game??? Where are the submissions?? Granted, this wasn't a card highlighted by any jiu jitsu experts, oh wait yeah it was. WTF. That KO by Rampage was nasty though.

its like a hybrid boxing match
    your right tho jtakeo
guess u will have to wait for maia again to see some great bjj in the octagon

The UFC ought to have a segment dedicated to the Gentlemen of the Sport. I think a shout needs to be sent out to Rich Franklin and Forrest Griffin for being such good sports, and making the the sport of MMA that much more respectable even in defeat. These two guys truly show class to their opponents, the fans, and to themselves when they win or lose.
congrats to them both and thanks for being gentlemen of the game.

why would anyone think gsp is going to pick penn apart? i can understand predicting him to win, maybe by wearing him down....but by no means does gsp have the skill to pick penn apart. round1 of their first fight went exactly the way any round would go as long as penn's cardio is where it needs to be, and if you remember correctly it was penn that picked gsp apart in that round.
and someone said something about coleman's tank....lol....i guess we'll see but do you really think he's running on anything more than fumes at this point? (come to think of it, he's always been running on fumes that friggin hot head beefcake can't keep his hormones under control)

woah! wait a minute! i'm a huge GSP fan but i disagree with u thinking that he'll demolish BJ Penn, I mean he was winning against GSP in their last bout but gassed out, part of his "partying days"...but now he's focused as hell, i'm for GSP but i will not predict GSP will win in a landslide, Penn is a wizard, he is revitalized and renewed and look what he did to Joe Stevenson and Sean Sherk, This is definitely a toss up but praying GSP will retain his title but wouldn't be surprised if Prodigy wins. I'd rather think of BJ as a lightweight.

and why wouldn't pat barry drop to 205? i mean, he's 5'11 230lbs....shorter than couture and just a few pounds heavier. it just seemed that if evensen would've been better equipped he could've had a scary reach/size advantage over pat.
with his high level of striking it'll be a bit before he realizes it, but i think he'll figure out he'd be better off at 205 eventually, maybe after facing a guy like gonzaga.....but who knows, he might tko lesnar due to foot stomps or something, anything can happen

    what up steve W
i was saying we will see what coleman has in the tank
since he is an old man
like does he have anything to bring into the cage
i think a healthy shogun will smash him but we will figure out in a couple weeks
also pat barrys devestating kicks look like he could do some damage hw or lhw
i would kind of like him to stay at hw because he bring a new type of attack to a newly flourishing hw class
