Today in Canada, UFC continued its UFC 94 tour of Las Vegas, Toronto and Honolulu. Dana White dropped a bombshell saying that if UFC welterweight champ Georges St. Pierre beats UFC lightweight champ B.J. Penn at UFC 94 in January, he will get a shot at UFC middleweight champ Anderson Silva.
White comments on a possible Silva v. GSP fight around the six minute mark.
Penn will not get a shot at Silva if he wins. He also refused to comment on Kenny Florian's comments in the cage and during the ESPNRadio1100 UFC 91 post-fight show. The Hawaiian did tell Neil Davidson of the Canadian Press that he wants to fight Matt Hughes after he beats GSP:
"Did anyone ever kick your ass before and you got pissed off about it?" he said when asked why.
White also mentioned that the UFC will return to Montreal in March or April of 2009. It's more likely to be April with Columbus tentatively slated to get a return date on Mar. 7 during The Arnold Classic.

There`s something I would like to see though: Anderson has said he won't fight for the LHW title (he's Lyoto's friend), but what about the HW? It may sound crazy, but he walks around 225, which is the same as Randy. I don't expect him to fight the big HW, but he could fight Randy, Mir, among others.

Why do we continue the Fedor talk? Randy lost so that fight will never happen.

Fedor.. wont goto ufc and you all stick up for him but in the back of your minds you all know he wouldnt do great in ufc good yes but not great.. well maybe im wrong a guy wins the HW Title in his fourth fight and becomes a legend.. No kids not lesner.. Im talking couture.. so as far as fedor goes right now its a toss up.
But GSP beating Penn and Silva thats what i wanna see.

This isn't a bad blog.....and it's by Cofield! I think Penn will take GSP this time. I don't think anyone questions his ability and never has. He was always lazy in the past with the cardio and conditioning, but getting his a$$ kicked by Hughes made him turn that around. GSP can win but I wouldn't bet on it. Penn - Hughes 3....I beleive BJ might actually kill Matt if they meet again. Let's assume GSP wins and faces the Spider......... I stand by what I said after the Henderson - Silva fight. DON'T BET AGAINST SILVA.

Also a couple of people here said that if Penn wins it wouldnt be good for the UFC but wouldnt it be the same scenario of GSP beats Silva, with having to defend 2 Belts?

your right about people wanting to see the fight, it would be awesome!!! and I agree with you about them getting their title shot, as much as I dislike KFLO, he has done well and deserves to get beat while trying for the belt. lol
And I think Alves should get the chance to go for Interim champ, otherwise they have to wait too long and might have to fight someone else then they could get hurt, or lose then they might not get the chance to go for the title. Kind of like when Liddell was suposed to fight Wanderlei however many times before they actually fought because something always came up, either the timing wasnt right or someone would lose and screw everything up.

I do agree with you that if GSP fights Anderson Silva, there is no way he's just going to sit there in his gaurd. Anyone who has watched Rush knows that he loves the half gaurd and is deadly from that position. I think with these 3 fighters, only great fights will come out of these matchups. However, I think the best chance of beating Anderson Silva is by knocking him out. That is why I think a fighter like Melvin Manhoeff (even though he lost to Mousasi) has a good chance of beating Silva. I think Silva would be too stubborn and would try and slug it out with him and wouldn't take him down. But who knows.

Karl A...... I'm with you on the Penn vs GSP pick as I stated before. No way lightning strikes twice for GSP. I like GSP (one really nice, class act guy for UFC) but the way Penn has become such an accurate puncher lately and GSP has shown his chin to be a bit shakey; I gotta say Penn wins it. I would rather see Alves vs GSP then Penn vs Hughes any day.
