Today in Canada, UFC continued its UFC 94 tour of Las Vegas, Toronto and Honolulu. Dana White dropped a bombshell saying that if UFC welterweight champ Georges St. Pierre beats UFC lightweight champ B.J. Penn at UFC 94 in January, he will get a shot at UFC middleweight champ Anderson Silva.

White comments on a possible Silva v. GSP fight around the six minute mark.

Penn will not get a shot at Silva if he wins. He also refused to comment on Kenny Florian's comments in the cage and during the ESPNRadio1100 UFC 91 post-fight show. The Hawaiian did tell Neil Davidson of the Canadian Press that he wants to fight Matt Hughes after he beats GSP:

"Did anyone ever kick your ass before and you got pissed off about it?" he said when asked why.

White also mentioned that the UFC will return to Montreal in March or April of 2009. It's more likely to be April with Columbus tentatively slated to get a return date on Mar. 7 during The Arnold Classic.

I want GSP to win because like you say penn having two titles cannot help ufc. but if GSP wins the fight with Silva for the title then what?

First, I think GSP will handle Penn. Sorry, and I know I will get bashed for that pick but I believe it to be true. Second, I think GSP can take Silva. Again, I will get bashed for that as well but here is my reasoning. GSP is a HUGE welterweight and can make middleweight. He has gotten better and better with every fight. I think his hardest fight of the two will actually be Penn. If freakin slow azz Luter can take Silva down then imagine what GSP will do to Silva. Once on top GSP won't just sit in Silva's guard and get elbowed to the top of his head. Of course, Silva can KO GSP, but I don't think that would happen. I think GSP had a lapse when he was KO'd and that woke him up. This shapes up to make GSP considered the best MMA fighter ever.

UNLESS, Fedor comes to the UFC and mops up. The only way he will be considered the best ever is if more people get to see that JUGGERNAUT. Fedor MUST come to the US and fight consistantly. I hope that signing one day happens more than any other signing.

Robert, I won't even start with that comment because obviously you haven't watched Fedor fight Nog or Cro Cop or dismantle Silvia (UFC 2 time HW champ). You just sounded like a fool comparing Kimbo to Fedor.
I will let the rest of the educated MMA world dig in on you now.

who the hell cares about Fedor when we're talking about a HUGE fight between two of the pound for pound best!! GSP tears thru Penn. Penn needs to let this one go, and concentrate on his own weight class. Then Silva!! I've always loved GSP and this is a hard one to call. I'll say this though, you wont see Silva clowning around with GSP the way he was with Cote, or he'll be seeing that belt go bye bye. Does the timing work out for GSP/Silva to be UFC 100?? How big is THAT card going to be??!!!

I'm sure that behind the veil we arent privy too they just can't or wont get the deal inked..dont fault fedor for that...trust me he answers to "His" people and you can bet there just as Hard as Dana's people..

For such a 'popular' sport these blogs aren't getting many posts. Just one guy with some reason (me) and a bunch of geeks absurdly defending this sport which is anything but 'Mixed Martial Arts'..

Robert...you are so wrong...Fedor is a stud....i do think though, that he would get beat in the UFC...maybe his 3rd or 4th fight..he does like to cherry pick his opponents but nevertheless his pride fights are nothing short of spectacular

Sorry, but the whole "GSP is a huge welterweight" doesn't work: Anderson is a HUGE middleweight, in fact, I think he probably walks around heavier than Wanderlei Silva. Fight time, there would be a 25-30 pound advantage for Silva.
There`s something I would like to see though: Anderson has said he won't fight for the LHW title (he's Lyoto's friend), but what about the HW? It may sound crazy, but he walks around 225, which is the same as Randy. I don't expect him to fight the big HW, but he could fight Randy, Mir, among others.

I don't see GSP getting by Penn, sorry. The one thing that stood out to me in the GSP vs. Fitch fight was the fact that GSP "couldn't shut the door and close the fight" when Fitch was down and out. GSP is a great technical fighter, yes (and one he!! of a nice dude). Penn has showed great strides in his improved striking and I think the only chance GSP has of winning the fight is to keep taking Penn down to score, use his kicks standing up and squeak out another decision. I don't think lightning can strike twice for GSP. So, know way the GSP vs. Silva fight ever happens.
Why do we continue the Fedor talk? Randy lost so that fight will never happen.

Okay maybe i dont know fedor like most of you but lets see.. he fights over sea's and the last i checked its been a helluva long time since pride has been up and running the guys he beat in pride are in UFC now and they are big time contenders.. Nog will beat mir and hopefully will beat Lesner.. and silvis isnt getting it done for me.. I know he was a ufc champ but since leaving ufc and watching him fight since then Tim to me atleast isnt as appealing..
Fedor.. wont goto ufc and you all stick up for him but in the back of your minds you all know he wouldnt do great in ufc good yes but not great.. well maybe im wrong a guy wins the HW Title in his fourth fight and becomes a legend.. No kids not lesner.. Im talking couture.. so as far as fedor goes right now its a toss up.
But GSP beating Penn and Silva thats what i wanna see.

    Whatup D-Rok, Great White, Beardown,
This isn't a bad blog.....and it's by Cofield! I think Penn will take GSP this time. I don't think anyone questions his ability and never has. He was always lazy in the past with the cardio and conditioning, but getting his a$$ kicked by Hughes made him turn that around. GSP can win but I wouldn't bet on it. Penn - Hughes 3....I beleive BJ might actually kill Matt if they meet again. Let's assume GSP wins and faces the Spider......... I stand by what I said after the Henderson - Silva fight. DON'T BET AGAINST SILVA.

I say GSP beats Penn, then goes on to fight Silva. I'm not too sure he would beat Silva though, but I would be pulling for him. As for Penn vs. Hughes, I think Penn would smash him if they fought again, like he said he's pissed off (which could also be bad if his emotions get the best of him) and his skill and his conditioning has gotten better since they last faught. Plus I'd like to see him beat Hughes, Hughes is good but he's too cocky (ofcourse so is Penn) but someone needs to knock him back down to earth, and you know going into a fight with Penn his head would be the size of Mr. Mackey's.
Also a couple of people here said that if Penn wins it wouldnt be good for the UFC but wouldnt it be the same scenario of GSP beats Silva, with having to defend 2 Belts?

If there was anyone that ever wanted to fight Matt Hughs beside Serra, would have to be Penn. He wants to get that respect back as GSP did. But I wonder when they will fight, Last I heard Matt Hughs and Serra signed a contract to fight each other early next year? Has anyone heard different?

    whats happenin HAHA
your right about people wanting to see the fight, it would be awesome!!! and I agree with you about them getting their title shot, as much as I dislike KFLO, he has done well and deserves to get beat while trying for the belt. lol
And I think Alves should get the chance to go for Interim champ, otherwise they have to wait too long and might have to fight someone else then they could get hurt, or lose then they might not get the chance to go for the title. Kind of like when Liddell was suposed to fight Wanderlei however many times before they actually fought because something always came up, either the timing wasnt right or someone would lose and screw everything up.

Great White - If we start keeping a tally, this is for sure one fight we will be disagreeing on haha. I don't see BJ losing to GSP again. He looks like a new man with a new focus and some desire finally. Also, keep in mind BJ fought Machida and although he lost, he weighed in at 190. That's pretty big my friend. And you can't use the argument that he doesn't look all ripped like GSP because obviously after watching Fedor crush people for years (Robert you have no idea what you are talking about and are completely clueless when it comes to MMA) and watch guys that look like Kevin Randleman get destroyed by people for years, it is obvious that looks really don't matter. When they step in the cage, I wouldn't doubt that they would be very close in weight.
I do agree with you that if GSP fights Anderson Silva, there is no way he's just going to sit there in his gaurd. Anyone who has watched Rush knows that he loves the half gaurd and is deadly from that position. I think with these 3 fighters, only great fights will come out of these matchups. However, I think the best chance of beating Anderson Silva is by knocking him out. That is why I think a fighter like Melvin Manhoeff (even though he lost to Mousasi) has a good chance of beating Silva. I think Silva would be too stubborn and would try and slug it out with him and wouldn't take him down. But who knows.

I'm telling you people BJ is going to lite Georges up. He is going to pound him into a bloody pulp and then he is going to sub him with a rear naked in the 3rd round. BJ is going to show the world he is the man.

Chano...... That fight is still on for Serra and Hughes but it is still "iffy" as that grows closer due to Hughes' knee (he should have had surgery). Not really excited for two big mouths flappin' their gums over who's wife hates whom. It will be a boring fight and at the end they will hug it out like broads.
Karl A...... I'm with you on the Penn vs GSP pick as I stated before. No way lightning strikes twice for GSP. I like GSP (one really nice, class act guy for UFC) but the way Penn has become such an accurate puncher lately and GSP has shown his chin to be a bit shakey; I gotta say Penn wins it. I would rather see Alves vs GSP then Penn vs Hughes any day.

Chano - This dude is a clown. He's watched a couple of UFC events now, probably just came from WWE and is excited to be blogging. The Great White sent me a message and I told him I was going to calm down with putting people down and belittling them....that being said, I will just sit back and laugh as ican2 writes about banjos and what not. I mean come on, look who he thought was smart....some guy that says "Fedor is almost as bad as Kimbo." If those are the guys he's thinking are smart prior to such asinine statments, well there's not much more to be said. But good lookin out.
