Trash talk isn't needed to hype up all fights. You've got the perfect case at the main event of UFC 93 where Dan Henderson isn't very menacing when he's trying to smack about an opponent and Rich Franklin is way too laid back to do anything but laugh it off. Franklin channeled his inner comedian during this little exchange on the Countdown to UFC 93 show:

Henderson commented, "If he for some reason is beating me up on my feet, I'm going to take him down and beat the (expletive) out of him."

"He said (expletive)? That's just mean," said Franklin. "I'm picturing myself laying in the middle of an Octagon in a pile of my (expletive) right now. That's unsightly."

Franklin was also a smartass when Henderson said his game had more dimensions:

"He's known for his striking, standup and decent on ground and pound but that's about it," said Henderson. "I have more dimensions as an MMA fighter."

"How many more dimensions did he say? Was it like three more dimensions ... cause that's a lot of dimensions," quipped Franklin.

UFC 93 is a week away so the Countdown show must be on tap for Spike this week. Not so fast. For some reason, the UFC does not have the Countdown show on the television network. Now that doesn't mean that the UFC could care less about the event, there is a Countdown to UFC 93 and it's available anytime on UFC.com.

It's actually very entertaining. Sometimes we get a little too wrapped up in recent developments and forget just how many people wanted to see Franklin and Henderson fight three years ago. The show kind of sets us straight on just how good these guys have been over the years. They're meeting now having lost a few fights recently (by the way, all title shots or defenses). Franklin's striking coach Matt Hume comes down hard on the boxing ability of Henderson saying he's not a world class striker.

I got Hendo in this one. If there is a knee, Franklin will find a way to smash his face into it. The only thing Ace has is decent striking from a lefty stance. On the ground Hendo twists him up..

    Dynastay-
I usually disagree with u, given ur blatant disrespect of Dana White and all; but ur right- why do they seem to show the same fights on every other episode of Unleashed? Whats up with that?
    Good fight, bad marketability. These are two of the best MdlWt and LtHvyWt fighters in the world today; who just happen not to have any bad blood or hatred toward each other. So just fight for the position of TUF coach, which one of them (Franklin) doesn't even want, and the opportunity to beat up Michael Bisping. Just the thought of Hendo or Ace beating up Bisping is enough reason for me to watch TUF next season. Personally, I'll be rooting for Henderson, just cuz it doesn't seem like Franklin even wants the job;

I'm not sure why Rich doesn't want to coach TUF.......it would help his dying career. Granted he has as much personality as a post, but it can't hurt. Plus he could fight Bisping....one of the most overrated fighters in the UFC. It is sad that most people only remember Rich for getting worked over by Silva. My favorite "Ace" moment (besides the Silva fight) was watching him get worked over by Bill O'Riley a few years back.

Steve. Maybe you should pay more attention to your boxing blog. It would appear no one is posting on here except for what music a fighter should make their entrance to. All fluff, no substance. Fluff Boy.........

This fight would be a tough sell if it were in the States. The fact that it's in Dublin makes it an almost non-event. I'll check the web next Saturday to find out what happens. I like Dana White, as opposed to some other posters, but with this card he's not trying very hard to impress the Irish.

Why do people care where the event is if they are buying it on PPV? I agree this isn't a good card, but why does geography play into watching something on TV or your computer?

I wont buy this one... Who cares if Hendo twists up Franklin?? He is a novice boxer that made a living knocking out retarded MMA doofs that knew nothing about stand up.. Ace Franklin.. psshhhht... He got worked in the gym by a 165 pound open class 19 y.o boxer.

Damn nut, I really try to stay away from the boxing v. MMA jabs you keep throwing. So I will keep this short and sweet! YOU ARE RIGHT!!! Franklin is NOT a BOXER!!! He may have gotten worked in a BOXING match by a 19 year old, but what would happen if that same 19 year old fought Rich with MMA rules???? DUH, Nut! These are two different sports, yet we always have to go back and fourth because you can't see the light and acknowledge that boxing has BOXERS and MMA fights have MMA fighters. Each sport has a different set up in regards to rules, stances, ways to win, ways to hug each other, ways to not use kicks, ways to not use take downs, ways to not use submissions, ways to not use knees, oh shiat I just accidentally named off a bunch of things that boxers don't and can't do. OK, sorry got off track. The only thing similar between boxers and MMA fighters is ummmmmm punching!! You can't even say clinching is the same because boxers don't do anything but stall when clinching. Damn, NUT get over your boxing crapola.

whats with the bisping bashing?are you all mad that he won TUF3?or is it the decision he shouldnt have got against matt hamill?I like bisping but i was very dissapointed that he won that fight but i still dont think he's as bad and overrated as most of you seem to.another thing i am irish and im just happy that the UFC is coming to my homeland.a bit of exposure to this sport is what this country needs...ask most people in ireland what mma is and they will more than likely think your talking about an STD or something.its not a great card but just be happy that the irish are finally gettin some.and welldone to tom egan for getting a 4 fight contract.I hope you do well.

Bisping is over rated. He was a prick on the show and has yet to beat a solid opponent (he lost the fight to Hamill - I don't care if the judges F'd up the decision). He might be better at middleweight, but does anyone believe he can beat Silva, Henderson or Franklin? I'd like to see how he does against the likes of Cote, Lietes or Maia before we go and give him a show and allow him to fight one of two top five middleweights...

Its hard for me to root against Rich because I'm from Cincy but.... I've been a Fan of Hendo for a long time, even before his first fight against Wanderlei. Which he should of won, he had Wandy hurt but didn't capitalize. I really want to see him fight Anderson again, I know he will beat his a$$ the second time around... Just like He did the other Silva. Franklin on the other hand is scared and wants no part of a 3rd beat down, I was at the last one and it was Brutal/Heartbreaking to see Rich get done like that again.

Bisbing is so over rated it is a joke. Who has he fought at the middle weight division to deserve a #1 contender fight, thats right nobody. I like both Franklin and Hendo, so I think this will be a good fight. And I agree with the great white, lets stop comparing boxing and MMA because it is a completly different sport. It like comparing baseball to football, they both use a ball, but the rules are completly different.

I honestly think there is no one at anderson's level, yet. Franklin is more brutal than he is given credit for, theres alot of anger hidden in there. Ufc does not want to put him against anderson again because of the one sided victories that anderson holds. Henderson has never been knocked out, but age is catching up on him, how many hits can he take before it happens, look at big nog. I am very interested in this matchup. I think it will be one of the best ever. I predict henderson getting beat up on his feet the first round, Using his wrestling skills to keep Franklin grounded, but not really causing damage the second round, and an early TKO win by Franklin in the 3rd round, possibly a page from anderson's book. And so what about Franklin not wanting to be a coach, he said he'd do it. He just wants to win!!!

Nut is the one of those posters that keeps copy and pasting the same My Boxing guys would beat the tar out of your MMA guys.
O k we get it now!
stop repeating the same thing over and over it will not convince anyone by being a broken record.
as was stated its different sports its like comparing Pro Golf with Miniature golf and saying look at that guy he got a hole in 1 by bouncing it off the elves head then threw the windmill SEE he better than Tiger Woods.
