Fedor, Sylvia make weight

ANAHEIM, Calif. – Both Fedor Emeliananeko and Tim Sylvia made weight for their Affliction: Banned main event Saturday night at the Honda Center. Sylvia, the two-time former UFC heavyweight champ, clocked in at 263 pounds, a 33-pound advantage over the former PRIDE heavyweight champ.

Full results:

Fedor Emelianenko 230 vs. Tim Sylvia 263

Andrei Arlovski 241 vs. Ben Rothwell 264

Pedro Rizzo 242 vs. Josh Barnett 256

Fabio Nasciemento 185 vs. Matt Lindland 185

Mike Whitehead 206 vs. Babalu Sobral 201

Antonio Rogerio Nogueira 205 vs. Edwin DeWees 205

JJ Ambrose 171 vs. Mike Pyle 171

Terry Martin 185.5 vs. Vitor Belfort 185

Savant Young 145 vs. Mark Hominick 145

Ray Lizama 185 vs. Justin Levens 189

Notes: The planned match between Aleksander Emelianenko and Paul Buentello is off, as Fedor's brother was denied a license by the California State Athletic Commission an hour before the weigh-ins. … Emelianenko received by far the biggest reaction from the crowd of about 1,000 or so, with Sylvia receiving a mixed response. The second biggest ovation was for Arlovsk. All the name Brazilian fighters, from Nogueira to Sobral to Rizzo, got a warm reaction from the crowd. Washed-up metal act Megadeth, however, was greeted with dead silence when emcee Michael Buffer announced the band would perform Saturday night. … Affliction's ring is a massive 30 feet by 30 feet, which on paper would seem to play to Sylvia's plodding stand-up style.

Who do you think will win? Tell us whether you think Fedor or Sylvia will take the main event Saturday night and why, or tell us about any match on the show.

Very sad as the Aleks and Paul fight was one of the highlights on this card. Puts a small dent in the still very good card. This won't stop me from watching -- don't fighters know what paperwork/medicals they need to fight here? I saw Fedor fight in Vegas -- although that wasn't CA I guess so who knows. . .?

This card is stacked! We will see some classic fights which will provide some classic KO's and subs. I love MMA first promotions second. No matter how you spin it promotions will come and go but the fighters are what make the action happen.

Affliction has all the heavyweight talent that the UFC doesn't have anymore. There's no way I'm missing this card. If you want to see top heavyweights, Affliction is the way to go.

It will be good seeing Emelianenko fight talent in the United States. It is too bad it took so long, I congratulate Afflicion for this.

The person who said "bunch of bums on this card...UFC throwaways." is a moron. Are you a fighter? Most likely not....so these guys would pretty much kill you!! Even if you were a fighter I highly doubt you would get in the ring, put on gloves, and call any of these guys bums to their face. I've worked with Mike Pyle and Mike Whitehead and both guys are excellent fighters. So stop running your mouth from behind a screen. Oh yeah and this card is STACKED!!!!

I'll be flipping between chanels cuz tha UFC is still atop thier game. Affliction has some UFC rejects that could potentially put them in a postion to be successfull, but the same rejects were the ones that made the UFC boring. Dana White and Tom Atencio should get together and make it bigger, instead of trying to compete.

ufc fight night free? awesome, dvr is primed and ready to record. fedor vs a former champ, wouldnt miss it for the world. with donald trumps backing initially, this could be huge. by the way, there are some really good fighters on this card. linland, one of the few people recently to have the balls to fight fedor, barnett is no punk, i had no idea that lil nog was on this card.

Dana White is a clown. I am hoping they get some big competition from Affliction/Trump or Cuban/hdnetfights. The UFC screws the fans and the fighters. I am a big MMA fan but I am tired of feeling like I am getting bent.
