Fedor Emelianenko TKOs Brett Rogers on CBS main event

In an arena that was electric with the excitement of seeing the world's best heavyweight take on a tough challenger, Fedor Emelianenko won his first Strikeforce bout with a TKO at 1:48 in the second round. If there were any questions of Fedor's dominance, they were answered tonight as Emelianenko lasted through an early onslaught from Rogers. 

Fedor started the fight off with big looping punches and then threw Rogers to the ground, using his sambo skills. Rogers got back to his feet and used the clinch to cause damage. Rogers cut Fedor on the bridge of his nose with a perfectly square jab. When Rogers took Fedor to the ground, he landed a bevy of punches to put "The Last Emperor" in trouble. 

But Fedor could not be stopped. He finished the fight off with one lethal right hand punch in the second round, and then finished it on the ground with one more big right.

Judging by the crowd at the Sears Centre in suburban Chicago, Fedor has clearly become a star in the United States. The cheers for him were deafening, and more than once, the crowd began to chant "Fedor, Fedor!" 

Rogers fought Fedor better than anyone has in quite a while. This was his first loss, but one that will still leave a mark in the memories of MMA fans.

    Later Rogers ! Who is still saying Fedor is the not the Best Ever? Oh, Dana's a$$hole is hurting so bad right now, should have got him when you could have.

    Sweet. Go Fedor. What a classless loser Brett Rogers was. All excuses and no game. I can't wait to see Fedor knock Rogers out again!

    Fedor looked good. Glad he's getting an audience stateside now. Watching him live, he's pretty vicious. I like that. I still think he'd have a hard time with Lesnar. Love to see it though.

    NIghty Night Big Brett. Fedor just laid this guy out. The worst part was after the fight Fedor gave Brett his props, but instead of being a class act after getting laid flat, Brett wants to make it sound like he didn't get knocked out and only lost because he fought poorly. Way to act like a little girl after getting knocked out. Can't wait for the rematch and a repeat of the result from tonight.

    Fedor did not impress me either. Brock would destroy him. Actually Mir would beat him. If he is the best then we need some new heavyweights.

    And Dana totally was better with Fedor winning than Rogers. He'd have poached Rogers easily, and Lesnar or any of the top 6-8 HW in the UFC would have tore Rogers apart in a heartbeat. He didn't do that bad in this one though, but he's limited. He'd tear up anyone on that pathetic show Wednesdays.

    stevenandmegan2000 - lol Yeah Fedor wasn't impressive at all. He threw a strong guy to the ground twice his size with little trouble, rocked him a couple of times, and then brutally ko'd him. Yeah, Fedor wasn't impressive at all tonight. *rolls eyes*

    HAck: seriously?? you think beating rogers prooves something? i want Fedor to fight, like his fights, but he ducked and ran from the UFC plain and simple. I want to see him fight a REAL fighter. Overeeem is another one who is perfct for him to walk thru, good stand up for the show, but no where near enough power. K-1 style, not MMA. hence his fighting in those and dream (cream) instead of defending.

    That was a great fight. Much like AA, rogers was winning the fight when he got caught w/the perfect right hand punch. this is the 2nd time that Fedor has shown a flaw: beat him w/a better boxing game. Next come the nutlickers who will say different.

    Great fight by Fedor, he clearly won the first round, despite the broken nose, although Rogers gave us a few interesting moments. And the punch in the second was monsterly. Him not being number 1 in the pfp rankings is a joke.

    Fedor is an expert at timing the punch..He has proven it over and over.. He knew rogers was gonna be comin for him..find the opening..get the timing..strike..over..FEDOR!!!
