In a heavyweight bout between Fabricio Werdum and Antonio "Big Foot" Silva, Werdum outlasted the big man on Strikeforce's first ever bout on CBS. All three judges scored it 29-28 for Fabricio Werdum.
In the first round, Silva knocked down Werdum with a big flurry of punches but couldn't finish him off. Despite that, Silva clearly won the first round, landing punches and knocking Werdum more than once. The times that Werdum was on the ground, Silva didn't follow. Instead, he told Werdum to get back up to continue the fight on their feet.
Werdum finally got it to the ground in the second but couldn't keep Silva there. Back on their feet, Werdum worked the clinch before Werdum got Silva back to the ground and got side control. Werdum quickly rolled into a heel hook, but Silva got out of it.
In the third round, Werdum again was able to take Silva down. When Silva got back up, he tried to land some punches but Werdum dodged them, matrix-style. Werdum landed a knee and Silva went to the ground. The final round ended with Werdum on top of Silva.
For winning this fight, Werdum should have a chance at either the winner of Fedor/Rogers, or eventually, the Strikeforce heavyweight champion, Alistair Overeem.

They can keep trying to build resumes on their fighters but they really just do not have the ability to put 2 fighters in the cage who can entertain unless you are looking for slo-motion grinds or blatant mis-matches.

I will say, that Silva looked more athletic and like better overall fighter, but Werdum clearly wanted it more, and Bifgoot let it slip away.

It was close, unlike the other fights tonight. Fedor/Rogers was ok, but without the broken nose just another dominating Fedor win. Mousasi was clearly in control the entire time. First round was kindof sortof intiresting, but Sokoudjou was just lost on the ground. It was pretty damn clearly, he wasn't gonna get the win on a sub, and standup wise it looked like Mousasi was toying with him at once. I missed a large part of Shiles/Mayham but from the scores and reports looks boring and one sided. So this was, probably, the closest, main card, fight. Although Fedor/Rogers would, of course, get a fight of the night.
I felt Werdum was trying to win at the end. Cearly not trying to knock Silva out, but trying to score points. Which he did, and that won him the fight. What Bigfoot was doing? I am not really sure.

bigfoot clearly won the first round. that was his round. he fought his fight, dropped werdum, bullied him around, had him on the run and didn't allow him to play his game. second round, not so much. bigfoot flurried early while backpedaling and werdum's head got clipped and he dropped for a moment...other than that werdum made the rest of that round belong to him. it took place on his terms, he was a little more of the aggressor in the 2nd but definitely controlled the cage and decided where the fight took place. he did not allow bigfoot to impliment his game...bigfoot also didn't help his cause by failing to be the aggressor as in the first. since there was little to no damage done in the second you have to base it on these things. the third round was pretty stagnant for the first couple minutes as well but the positions again were controlled by werdum for over half the round, and towards the end werdum landed some good shots standing then ended up controlling with gnp till nearly the end. 29-28 for werdum...no problem.
