Former UFC champion Randy Couture has signed on to do a new action movie, "The Expendables,"  starring him, Sylvester Stallone and Dolph Lundgren. Couture lost his belt to former pro wrestling sensation Brock Lesnar after a long layoff from fighting due to a contract dispute with the UFC. This is his second movie in production, so it could be a signal that he is walking away from the Octagon for good.

Since the loss to Lesnar, Couture has not discussed his future as a fighter. Rumors have been floated about a fourth fight between Couture and Chuck Liddell, another former champion who has also tried Hollywood, but no fight has been set yet. With Couture spending time on a movie set, it would be difficult for him to put in the time needed to prepare for a fight.

He is not the only fighter to test the waters in entertainment. Cung Le, a champion for the MMA promotion Strikeforce, said that he will only return to fighting from his movie career for "something big." Forrest Griffin, who will defend his light heavyweight UFC championship belt at UFC 92 on December 27, guest starred on "Law and Order:SVU," and UFC champs B.J. Penn, Georges St. Pierre and Anderson Silva all have appearances in a 2009 movie project, "Never Surrender."

If Couture were to never throw another punch or attempt another takedown, he will still be known as one of the greatest mixed martial artists of all time. He is a member of the UFC Hall of Fame, and helped build the UFC into the juggernaut it is today. Couture has been with the UFC since its early days and survived to become one its fighters most beloved by fans.

Another movie could end his acting career. Just kidding. If he could only learn to fly, then he'd be a cinch in one of those Hong Kong martial arts flicks. Kidding again. I can think of four or five martial artists that have gone on to make good money in the movin pictures; boxers, not so much. They have no charisma. Yeh, kidding.

Seriously? He's in constant discussion about his next fight, and has been booked on numerous talk shows in Germany for the week of that show in June. He is not fighting until June so he has time for other projects.

Hmmm Steve, I hate to disagree my friend..I'm a huge Randy fan and NOT a white ape bandwagon fan but I do call it like I see it..When the ref steps in he usually does because your getting your ass handed to you and they dont want to see you get hurt worse..

Once Kimbo cleans out Japan (Fedor will duck him) it's for him to clean out the UFC. Randy is awesome, great ect... but believe that the prospect of facing Kimbo will be a factor in his retiring. He does not want to be just another legend taken out by Mr. Slice.

Randy will fight one more time.. For those of you new to fight sports it's the history of the sport to one day loose to the young buck who's on the rise. I don't agree with Randy was getting his a$$ handed to him. For the most part he was doing Brock at first and was probably on his way to making it a long fight. He got caught. It happens Kimbo Ladell Randy Faber Jackson got caught this year. It will be some one else next year. You get in a bad position and theres not much you can do. You can catch a few but thats it then it's all skill and he doesn't have it yet.

vudusup, you have a great career in standup comedy awaiting you! The only way Kimbo is going to 'clean up' Japan is on his knees. His 15 minutes are over!
Randy vs. Chuck in Sept/Oct of '09. Then they'll have a dance contest at Studio 54 afterwards... :-)

"Since the loss to Lesnar, Couture has not discussed his future as a fighter."
Actually, he has at length. He went on Pro MMA Radio with Larry Pepe after his fight and discussed acting and his future as a fighter.

Apache (#11)...I'm this close to reporting your comment for abuse. Don't ever lump Kimbo in with Liddell, Rampage, Faber, and Couture...ever. I'm serious. Please don't.
And apparently I'm in the minority here, but I can't see any way to say that Randy won the first round against Brock.
Anyway...Randy will fight once or twice more. You're right, Ces Man, that he has nothing to prove...but he just likes it too much, and there are guys he still wants to fight that he hasn't yet.
