The news and rumors are flying fast and furiously surrounding Brock Lesnar's withdrawal from his UFC 106 fight against Shane Carwin. With the Twitter era upon us, news changes in minutes. Carwin tweeted just a few minutes ago that he's been told by his manager Jason Genet that the fight is re-scheduled for UFC 108 on Jan. 2.

Interesting that Carwin says it was the swine flu that struck Lesnar. Yahoo! Sports Kevin Iole first reported that Lesnar had to pull out of his Nov. 21 fight against Shane Carwin.

At UFC.com, Tom Gerbasi writes:

heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar has withdrawn from his UFC 106 main event title defense against unbeaten Shane Carwin due to an illness that has forced him out of training camp for nearly a month. The UFC hopes to re-schedule the bout for early 2010. Stepping up into the main event slot will be the highly-anticipated rematch between former light heavyweight champions Tito Ortiz and Forrest Griffin.

Carwin tweeted earlier in the hour that he was disappointed that he hadn't originally heard the news from anyone at the UFC.

Imagine that, the UFC not telling the fighter the fight was canceled.
I just cannot believe it. Good thing it was broke to the media first, poor Shane would still be training his heart out for the fight.
Professional Entertainment business here you come.
I am really hoping Strikeforce lives up to the hype and can build a following from it. The UFC and it's antics as of late are getting so tiresome.
Now pull this post like you have done to all my others.

Ok, let's have BIg Nog fight Junior Dos Santos in place of Lesner/Carwin at UFC 106.
Quick turnaround for them...but they could do it. "How badly do you want to fight for the belt?"

it sure sounds like h1n1..... the big guy may be in denial but everything points to it being something along those lines....
ppl, just because kevin iole reported it doesn't mean its the truth... you mean to tell me he's never been wrong or jumped the gun (remember cro cop)?
whats wrong with the ufc taking due diligence with this? i'm sure announcing that the fight is off, is gonnal hurt prospects for the card so why not try to find suitable options to counter the big blow?
i guess nowadays if ppl don't have to someone/something to hate/bich about then life is pointless... relax, its a business, and don't worry, i'm sure shane will be okay.... but i do find it interesting he's "training his a$$ off " but still following all the drudge on the net.....

Poor Brock. Maybe he injected too much dianabol behind his left nut. At some point you got to figure the juice this guy has taken is going to come back and bite him in his big white ass. Maybe the time has come.........

whatever....."stepping up".......yeah right; Dana/UFC had better beef up this card with something better than this or you can count my ppv money OUT!!!
Or better yet, why not just air it FREE on Spike TV!!!! That would be AWESOME!!!

What a shame.. I think Carwin was going to expose Lesnar's lack of standup. Now it will have to wait until UFC 108. Could Kurt Angle vs John Cena be the replacement bout for UFC 106?

jayyolf1 and Frank Barnes, no need to bring race into this. personally, as a mexican i hate that brown pride [profane] and thinks it demeans mexican americans. but this isnt about race, it's about Lesnar vs. Carwin. The announcement sucks big time and will definitely hurt the UFC financially. I'm sure Ortiz vs. Griffin 2 will be a great main event, but not one I'm gonna pay $45 to watch. If the fight is scheduled for UFC 108, and if the rumored Middleweight Championship match between Anderson Silva and Vitor Belfort becomes official, plus Rashad Evans vs. Thiago Silva, that card will be stacked.

jayyolf1, no biggie man. but knowing what lesnar pulled after destroying mir in july and following him during his pro wrestling days, he would pull something like that. the man loves the spotlight and it loves him back.

We just got screwed out of a great PPV. I wont be buying anymore. I was looking forward to see Tito but I could care less about the outcome so I will wait for youtube or whatever. Like I said, unless they put something at the level of Lesnar vs Carwin I am skipping this one.

considering Lesnar's last PPV, I wouldn't buy it. All he'll try to do is man-hump Carwin and ape-slap him while he's down. I'm hoping it doesn't come down to a Div I meathead Div II meathead, and Carwin drops one of those Mack Truck bumper knuckles on Lesnar's face. What Carwin should do is try and rip that apes shoulder out of joint for good. Put some of that WWE punishment to good use and see if the small check and rotator cuff damage was worth 250 F5s a year.

whatever the ufc does with this card it still wont be good enough for most of you

I son't have a problem with the card, just not willing to pay money if a championship fight is removed. the Tito/Griffin fight would be fun to watch, but so was the fight between 2 girls i saw friday around 1am. not gonna pay for it!

It's nice to see that Lesnar can go have fun at concerts and shows, but cannot train for a fight... Either way, I hope it is a good fight when it happens, even if there is another Metallica concert before the fight.
