Kim Couture ripped Jared Shaw for 'peeking' at a naked Gina Carano during the infamous EliteXC 'Heat' weigh-in two weeks ago. Yahoo! Sports tracked down Carano and she had nothing but nice things to say about EliteXC and Shaw:

"Jared is doing well. He's maturing as a person as we all are. It's just a little awkward. I'm not mad at anybody. If someone was trying to sneak a peek then alright, I'm sure a lot of other people would've."

St. Gina, who may be the nicest person on god's green earth, also refused to criticize the way that she weighed-in sans clothing. Couture thought Carano could've been weighed in behind the curtain away from prying eyes:

"I'm okay the way the weigh-ins went," said Carano. "We can definitely do things better in the future but I can do things better in the future to try to get down to 140." 

Carano also discusses the ridiculous pay gap between her and some of male fighting "stars" like Kimbo Slice and Andrei Arlovski. Both male fighters got in excess of $500,000 while Carano only got $25,000.

Carano basically refused to comment on the EliteXC fight fixing investigation saying," my job is to fight."

You get the feeling that there could be some rumbling behind the scenes in Camp Carano as far as Gina's pay is concerned. It's absurd to have someone drive major audience to the CBS broadcast by appearing on Jimmy Kimmel, Craig Ferguson, etc. and then pay them 20 times less than the top males on the same card.

    " I can do things better in the future to try to get down to 140 ". No shyt!!. How about saying no on occasion when someone offers you some food? Didn't Carano say 2 weeks ago that weight wouldn't be an issue with her as she had hired a nutritionist, and had learned how to cut weight? Forgive me if I don't believe the latest on her improved weight loss techniques. Talk is cheap.
    Secondly, she has absolutely no right to criticise how her weigh in attempt turned into a circus! She has no one to blame but herself for having to go to drastic measures to lose 1.5lbs in 30 seconds. Close the freaking fridge door!

    It's obvious that she deserves more money and I'm sure that her contract will be renegotiated so that she will receive more money in future bouts. Especially for this coming fight with Cyborg.

    Of course!!! On all counts. Of course she's not going to complain about having to strip down in front of the audience. She probably received a bonus just for that!! And if she didn't, she's of course being paid to go on talk shows to discuss it!! To the general public, that was more noteworthy than the fight. And of course she doesnt make as much as the men. At this point, there is no female fight that can carry an entire fight card alone. Unlike countless male fights can. Not to mention the females she's faced to this point were obviously outclassed. She'll make good $$$ when she faces Cyborg. Although after that bout, who else is there??? Stop whining!! You chose to be an athlete in a sport dominated by men. Ask Danica Patrick why Jimmy Johnson makes more than she does. WNBA stars vs. NBA stars. Lorena Ochoa compared to Tiger. Another female that needs to learn to shut her mouth and just stand there looking yummy!

    Carano is in great shape and no one should be hassling her over 1 and a half pounds. And if they thought they would lose her they would give her a pay raise faster than Mickey da G man could eat thru a bucket of lard. That Kimbo made 20 times more than her is a joke just like he is. She is a real fighter and should get paid her worth.

    Bankshotbobby got choked out by a chick one time and is just bitter. When Carano and Cyborg fight I don't think I'll care which male fighters are on the card. This one is going into the memory bank for later

    I have not seen Carano fight. but i iwll tell u this. Any female that gets into the ring and fights, is worth the same money as any man. And i would love to see any of the previous big mouthed men get into the ring with a woman that can handle herself as well as Carano obviously can.

    ahhhh i hurt the fealings of a feminist. LOL! I dont remember dogging the Carano/Cyborg fight. I'll watch as well. I didnt even say she doesnt DESERVE to get paid more. All I said was, with the history of women involved in sports dominated by men, they get paid less!! So why should she EXPECT any different? The world is the way it is, right or wrong, sweethearts!! NOW I'M SURE YOUR MISSES IS CALLING, GO COOK DINNER. AND SH3WULF, YOUR MANS HUNGRY!

    what a crock, you cant even compare her to arlovski, hes been in the game for years and has proven himself time and time again. kimbo was just lucky, he played the system won a couple lame fights got paid and now hes done. everyone knew he was a piece of crap and that he wasnt worth pissing on if he was on fire. and also she's not going to complain about having to strip down because it causes more attention to her which in turn will have her make more money in the future. i guarantee if playboy came to her in a couple years and offered her a crap load of money to do a spread she'd do it in a heart beat. besides if she is having trouble making weight then she should stop eating cheese cake and ho ho's.

    Doesn't matter if she in shape or not she has proven time and time again she cannot make the 140 l/b mark. She should just go to 145 and stop trying to kill herself. Its unfair to her opponents who come in lighter and at their proper weight. She is a mean fighter but to continually not make 140 shows either she can't do it or won't do it. Of course someone is gonna try to peak, next time make weight and you get to keep your clothes on.

    I agree with bankshot 100%. Like he said look at sports in general. The WNBA is a joke and loses tons of money every year. If the NBA wasnt backing them the would have been out of business years ago. Its the same thing with women MMA. There will never be a all female permotion her in the US. There arent enough females into the sport and there is no way they'll be able to pay the fighters anything because of poor ticket sales and no ppv buys. Dont get me wrong I'm a huge Gina fan, but do you think all those people tuned in to watch her fight? If it wasnt for Kimbo and Arlovski on the card there wouldnt have been half as many viewers who turned in. And the fact of the matter is that if Gina wasnt on the card the rateings would have been the same are slightly lower. Females dont have the same drawing power as males do. I'm not sexist i'm just keeping it real. And Sh3wolf- there is no way that Gina will be able to beat Uriah Favor or other 140lbs male. By the way they make weight. They dont come in over.

    dude- you are flat out wrong. The ratings went threw the roof when Gina was fighting, then dipped down significantly till Kimbo took the stage. Numbers don't lie....Gina is a huge attraction, and unlike Kimbo/// she CAN fight! Gina's was the second highest rated fight on the card.

    Not all fighters are created equal. Sure they all do the same thing ( fighting) but there are some fighters who are counted on to bring in more viewers and audience members than other fighters. Kimbo Slice may not be able to fight but he can bring in bucks so because of his potential as a huge draw, he can command more money as well as helping other fighters get paid more in the process, so he's worth more to the company than a lot of other fighters who have better skills. Carrano is a big draw herself but you're comparing her her scale of pay to, Andrei Alrovski, one of the greatest heavyweights ever, a former champion, and a pretty big draw himself. And kimbo slice, the guy who this event was pretty much built around, and the supposed savior of elite xc. It would be wrong if she made more than these two, but she should have made significanlty more than the 25g's she was given. She'll make much more for getting beat down by cyborg santos, because thats the fight everyone is going to want to see. And peeking at a hot naked women behind a towel doesn't make you a dirtbag, it make you a man. how gay would it have been if he didn't peek. s h i t.. i would have looked too.

    i think she should get paid as much as kimbo and the others did..she is a main attraction and does a hell of a job. come on now!!! i think people critisize her way too much on her weight issue! its just weight get over it already! other than that you have nothing really to say bad about her! she is a excelllent athlete and individual! I LOVE U GINA!

    Kimbo is making the money he should be making, he IS the draw for Elite XC, there is no doubt about it.
    but if Gina is the "face of women's MMA", and she is only making $25,000 + $10,000 bonus for winning, that's a straight slap in the face.
    i love the Elite XC and Kimbo and Carano and Shields, but come on, this is crazy.

    Jitzfan, Like was explained earlier, the rating jumped to over a million viewers when Gina fought, then droped significantly after that. A fight between her and Cyborg will most likely be the last Elite XC fight a television. Kimbo was exposed as a joke by getting knocked out by a light heavyweight. Not a whole lot of people are going to tune in to see him fight anymore. I am a fan of the UFC and I would like to see another promotion work, but the factrs remain the same, none that are out there right now will compete with the UFC until they change the way they do business. Elite is run by boxing promoters (enough said there) Affliction over spent on the talent they have and any decent fighter will want to be paid the same as the current roster which doesn't make good business sense. These companies need to establish themselves first, build a following and then they will prove to free agent fighters that they will be around long term. This is why the UFC is so dominant as far as their roster goes, fighters know that they are the only solid company to work for right now.

    Great Points made by all. I like watching Gina fight and she is an awesome athlete but like Jitzfan said a female card could never make enough money in this game. It is simply the truth. As far as her making wieght "sandra m" it is not "just weight" it is simple physics the bigger fighter has an advantage which is why they have weight classes. It is also very disrespectful of your opponent when you don't make weight. Gina has a great body but she should probably consider a move up in wieght class, her body type simply will not allow her to make that weight safely.

    I think that Gina is showing why she is a great spokesperson for MMA in general. She's smart enough to tread lightly around questions that can be problematic for the business, but enthusiastic about promoting the sport overall. It does seem a little silly that there are quotes in this article that have sentences that Gina said, verbatum, but in a different order then they were said AND you can find that out in the YouTube video included in the article! This is how statements get misconstrued and why people can dislike the media so much. If you're gonna quote someone, do it accurately. It would have meant the addition of one more quote paragraph.

    If Gina and Santos don't make six figures each for their upcoming fight...well, it would be a shame. They should be the main event.
    As for peaking at her....well, that is just male instinct. Doesn't make you a dirtbag. While Shaw probably is a dirtbag, this one little thing does not prove that. I think Mr. Rogers would have tried to sneak a peak and he was gay...

    There is no way a female would ever be able to even defend herself against a male her own weight, even the mentioned of such a thing is absurd.
    And yes women will probably always be largely in the background of the sport. But that's no excuse for an ameteur fighter like Kimbo to be getting paid a ridiculous 20 times more than someone of Ginas' caliber.
    I agree Shaw doesn't need to reproduce, and I'm not saying Gina wanted the attention, maybe she did, but at least she wasn't opposed to it, otherwise she wouldn't have stripped down. You can't get mad for someone looking. If you put male fighters stripping down and females holding the towels you know one will look too. Who cares? Animals are naked and so am I.
