You have to love the mainstream media. The Orange County Register couldn't resist including Justin Levens' nickname "The Executioner" in the lead paragraph of its story about the fighter's alleged murder-suicide. But thank god the blogosphere doesn't cling to antiquated views of fighting. Oh wait, we just checked Deadspin. FightOpinion.com did a nice job of pointing out this line where somehow a possible murder is explained by the fact that one fighter, Andrei "The Pit Bull" Arlvoski wears a mouthpiece with fangs:

I’m not sure what in Levens’ background may have led him to this, but with the MMA we’re not exactly dealing with your typical athlete. Another fighter at the Affliction event, Sergei “The Pit Bull” Arlovsky, is featured on his web site with vampire fangs.

Unless Zach at FightOpinion added the second line, it looks like Deadspin pulled it down realizing how dumb the statement was about Arlovski and his mouthpiece. Although it could be a fighter we're not familiar with named Sergei Arlovsky.

It certainly seems that it was there at some point, because a commenter named Captain Caveman (A.K.A. Matt Ufford, who edits the popular sports blog With Leather) responded with this line:

That's his mouthguard that he's been wearing for years. Congratulations, Rick. That's the equivalent of pointing out that Ichiro Suzuki has his first name on the back of his uniform on a post about Cory Lidle dying.

I bet you if we look hard enough we can find a correlation between John Randle's facepaint and the Rae Carruth murder.
