Cagewriter - UFC

It hasn't been an easy five months for Michael Bisping. The British middleweight, once the toast of the town, is still dealing with his first second career loss, a brutal knockout at the hands of Dan Henderson. Adding insult to injury, because of his coaching appearance on season of nine of "The Ultimate Fighter," he may now be amongst the five most disliked fighters in MMA. And on top of that he's got other fighters snitching on his late night habits.

Rashad Evans told Cagewriter back in July that Bisping didn't take that UFC 100 fight seriously and was out partying inside of two weeks from the fight:

"I was actually excited [to see him lose] not because I dislike Michael Bisping," Evans said. "It's the fact that I seen him out at the club the week before the fight, and I go up to him and tell him 'dude you got a fight coming up.' And he was like 'what's it to you mate' and he got all mad and salty about it, and he like wanted to fight to me."

Bisping said that was nonsense. He had trained all day and woke up at 10 p.m. in Las Vegas. He called his buddies Quinton Jackson and Tiki Ghosn, and met them at a club. Bisping said he was hanging out, drinking orange juice. That's when Evans approached the trio:

"Rashad comes stumbling over, drunk with half a shirt on. One half of the shirt hanging out. I said 'Rashad you're the one who's drunk. I'm drinking orange juice. Just leave me alone. I'm out for an hour or two.' I'm quite surprised he felt the need to go out and publicize it."

The reality show coaching gig has made heroes or villians out of several fighters. Tito Ortiz probably saw the biggest positive boost. Right now, Evans and Jackson are battling for heel supremacy on TUF 10. Bisping was definitely the bad boy coming off TUF 9. During a recent UFC chat session with fans, Bisping's name was booed every single time it was mentioned in Portland at UFC 102. The Brit doesn't understand that:

"I am who I am. I'm not a fake person. I'm not like a lot of fighters. Some fighters go out there and put on this fake image as a man of the people and all of that [expletive]. In reality they're [expletive]. They don't give people the time of the day."

Bisping said anyone who comes up and meets him wouldn't have a bad thing to say. He's also got a fan friendly website/blog.

TUF 9 was a mixed bag for Bisping. It brought a lot more eyes his way but he said it also derailed his progress as a fighter because nine months away from the cage was way too long.

Bisping returns to the Octagon at UFC 105 in Manchester, England on Nov. 14.

    @bob m
OK give me Steve's number i would gladly call him and call him out. I'm not threatening him or anything bobby boy, but you do realize that there is a FREE mma event on BASIC CABLE and it is getting no coverage from these supposed "MMA" bloggers. instead we get an interview from someone NOT fighting in this weekends event, but 10 days from now and the blogs about the Strike Force event have been very, very bad to say the least.
i don't know about you but i think fedor is much more relevant than bisping, but yet we only have a song, sweater and a staring contest to read about him. Why is this? Equal coverage would be nice, but that would be expecting far too much.

Oh and for those of you who think Cofield is such a d bag for posting this, remember he has a program on ESPN radio on which he regularly interviews fighters. And guess what? When he interviews a fighter he usually posts it on here.

What blog venues have posted a Fedor interview since he got to the States a few days ago? Any? I agree some of the other MMA venues deserve more attention in this blog, but UFC is the bigger show, like it or not. I just wish every article on the UFC tab was open to blog response. Kevin lole has some of the better articles that I think really spur discussion, but all we can do is email lole and hope he addresses our emails at a later date.

Mathias, the reason why some people that cannot stand Cofield post her is because this is one of the few MMA blogs that is safe for work. Just so you know.

So what if it's the only one that's safe for work? I hate Judge Judy, if that was the only show I was allowed to watch from work, I'd just not watch it. I'm just saying this blog is what it is, it's biased towards the UFC (which is the big show) and it's got mediocore writing/journalism, it only takes a few articles to figure that out. If you don't like it deal with it or go somewhere esle. I just don't get what's with all the pi$$ing and moaning?

mathiasmorciglio, I felt the same when I started to participate here a few months ago. You get used to it. Some of the voices on here are coherent and try to have an intelligent give and take about the topic. Others seem to be venting their frustrations. Me, I save my frustrations until I get to the gym and take them out on the heavy bag. Just how it works for me.

LOL I see some Fedor POLE RIDERS/Fan Girls....that’s good, that’s good. Why do I care or should anyone care if FEDOR is not facing Brock/Carwin/Santos/ or my boy CAIN? His primary concern is putting patting on his record and in his pocket not you pole riders. So no love from me anyways....My opinion
Bisping is a POS even if fighters put up a front for the camera it is better than portraying an arrogant loser. Ask Tim Silvia how far he got after a title with no respect from fans. I hate that guy even more. Vitor is an idealistic role model he can fight and show respect... (Maybe a little too preachy) you get what I mean. You don’t have to be an arrogant animal Bis PING.

I get that people can get bent out of shape over the lack of coverage on the Strikeforce card, but face it guys, they have indeed put out a few articles about the card. Maybe it wasn't what you all wanted to see, but they have covered it. I just read a good article about how Brett or any fighter should attack Fedor. Are you just upset because you couldn't blog about the article and rip it to shreds and remind the writers that they have a severe bias towards the UFC? We all get it guys, you don't need to spell it out for us. YAHOO is biased towards the UFC!!! There, its out there and if your just now figuring that out then either your a couple sandwiches shy of a picknick or your brand new to the MMA section of Yahoo Sports. I've been on here for a little over a year and I seen it after the first month of coming here that it was biased towards the UFC. The difference here is that I understand why they are biased towards the UFC. I may not agree with it, but I completely understand the reasoning behind it. The UFC is the Fedor or MMA promotions. PERIOD!! There is no argument to that and if you are going to argue it then you are just being stupid. They have the most talent and put on the biggest shows as a whole. Yes, this card for SF is going to be phenominal, but how many more cards do you think they are going to put together like this? In the long run of things the UFC gives Yahoo more stuff to write about and I'm sure that because of the slanted coverage that Yahoo gives the UFC that they prolly get interviews and other perks back to them. I can tell you right now that I am a MMA fan first and foremost, but if the folks over at Zuffa offered me free tickets to a couple events and told me I could hang out with a couple of their fighters if I never watched another SF card then I would say sign me up. You also got to realise that maybe part of it is on SF instead of Yahoo. Maybe, and I stress MAYBE because I have no clue and neither do you, but maybe SF does not put their fighters out there like the UFC does. Maybe they should contact some of these outlets like Yahoo, and tell their fighters that they HAVE to do some interviews and give a little more info in those interviews instead of just sitting there and staring into the camera like Fedor did on his last interview. As far as Bisping goes, well I could really care less. I don't hate Bisping, but I liked him alot more b4 he coached in TUF. I think he's a decent fighter that has a bad cocky streak in him (sounds like Rampage to me), but he is who he is and he shouldnt have to change who he is just to win over a few fans.

If Evans wants to speak he can. Not different than talking about anyone else, other fighters, the president whoever. If you don't like it don't listen. I find it amazing this bothers Bispbunghole since he talks so much smack about everyone else. Hendo KO'd Bisping......best KO of the century.
