Chase Beebe has been to the mountain top and he’s not liking where he is right now in the midst of a three-fight losing streak. As the WEC is taking off on Versus and turning out good crowds around the country, Beebe, the former WEC bantamweight champ, finds himself in the position of having to fend off the growing masses of prospects at 135 pounds. This Saturday is make or break time as he calls it at UWC: Redemption in Fairfax, Virginia. Beebe faces 7-1 Mike Easton:

"I’m not looking past this opponent by any means," said Beebe, whose slide has come against Miguel Torres, Joe Warren and Will Ribiero. "I gotta lot of respect for him. I’m prepared for a war. Both of us are in a position of trying to move up off of each other."

Beebe, 24, is hoping that timing is everything. He said that with the UFC potentially bringing WEC into the fold, a few wins could mean a return to cable television, possibly pay-per-view and bigger dollars.

Listen below to Beebe with Cagewriter:

Beebe (12-4) is clearly the favorite but he’ll be testing what he says was a gimpy knee back in February. Beebe had to pull out of his initial fight with Easton on Feb. 21. There was controversy surrounding that first fight. It appeared that Beebe was looking past Easton, to another fight scheduled for DREAM in Japan, less than three weeks later. Beebe never made it to Fairfax. A UWC press release said he no-showed:

Beebe allegedly sustained a knee injury that hampered his training and ability to reduce his weight to the contractually-set limit of 135 pounds. However, the former WEC champion failed to provide medical records regarding his injury and did not appear at today’s official weigh-in, resulting in the UWC finding a last-minute replacement.

Justin Robbins stepped up on short notice and was choked out by Easton. Beebe said it was simply a case of miscommunication. Because of the knee injury, he didn’t think the weight cut to 135 pounds was possible. Beebe said that he asked to fight at 145 and the Easton camp refused to budge, wanting a title fight at the original weight. As far as him missing the weigh-in, Beebe said it was all miscommunication on the part of his manager Monte Cox and UWC officials.

poor chase beebe, nobody commenting on his blog. i pretty much forgot about him when he lost to joe warren...in warren's first pro fight i might add....but then he went on to beat kid yamamoto as well in his second fight, so maybe beebe can still be relevant? doubt it, cuz i don't think he ever truly was. we'll see, good luck chase.

Well Joenamath54, your comment has no basis at all. If you follow MMA at all, you would see that both Beebe and Easton are ranked in the top 25 Bantamweight rankings as of August 27. If you want to be force fed the stuff that all blogs write about, go somewhere else. Steve puts out very current and relevant blogs, so relevant, that that getting covered by other blogs on a regular basis.

Price...."Steve puts out very current and relevant blogs"...??? What? You must not read his blogs on a regular basis. Steve only covers the stories that Dana says is okay for him to cover. 98% of them are irrelevant for true MMA fans since he's just blowing the horn of the UFC and Dana White. Steve's got no gonads. Cofield's not a respected journalist in the MMA community. He is unable to provide MMA fans with objective news stories and would rather suck on the UFC and Dana White's stick. When Dana's mad...Cofield's mad.
