Seth Petruzelli is Rocky according to CBS announcer Gus Johnson and others are saying that he's the next big MMA star. The endorsement and appearance dollars should make 'The Silverback' a rich man, right? Good news if you live in Orlando, you can meet Petruzelli at Sea World, Wet N' Wild, Universal Studios, Downtown Disney, Gatorland ... Smoothie King!

During this Orlando television interview, Petruzelli mentions that he doesn't think he'll get a Kimbo Slice rematch, that he'd like to face Tito Ortiz and he'll be at the SK on Red Bug and Dodd.

This wouldn't be a bad deal if Petruzelli was signed on for $2000 an appearance at all 508 Smoothie Kings nationwide. If that's not the case, his agent needs to pick things up. Truth be told, Petruzelli owns that particular Smoothie King so go there this weekend or ANY weekend to meet and greet.

People need to quickly end all this discussion about Kimbo and Petruzelli. Just because he was able to land a couple of featherweight punches on Kimbo, doesn't make him a superstar. It was a terrible fight stoppage. Kimbo didn't even feel those punches. I'm disgusted with the whole situation. Also, just because Kimbo lost one little fight, that doesn't mean he's all washed up or isn't a brawler. When Randy Couture was knocked out twice by the Iceman did you say he was all washed up? Hell no. Quit wasting the worlds oxygen supply blabbering a bunch of nonsense about people. No, neither of them are superstars. Stop setting your own expectations so high for theese people. Nobody, nobody, nobody goes undefeated forever. Big deal, one loss for Kimbo. Who cares. One lucky lucky lucky break for Petruzelli and he's a superstar now? Everyone shut up. I've got better things to do than read comments by the most un-informed group of writers ever. If you feel you can make a difference in the sport by writing a bunch of crap, your obviously missing several chromosmes.

It's amazing that yahoo, once again, has an anti-EliteXC story on its FRONT PAGE! Don't remember seeing any UFC-related controversy get this much Yahoo-love. HMMM, wonder if Yahoo has a deal with UFC.....oh, wait, they do. They are just printing all this negative Elite XC bull to promote UFC. UFC has had just as much bad commentary and controversy as the Kimbo thing, Yahoo won;t go on about it for days though because they have a partnership with UFC.

sounds to me like yahoo sports has an issue with elitexc. is elitexc built around one fighter? i haven't watched any of the elite fights, because fighters are primarily ex-ufc non-belt contenders. great fighters, but yesterday's news. petruzelli was never a ufc up and comer.
i followed the ufc for the first five years or so of its existence and the last three, but i was never swayed to watch free elitexc because of a fighter named kimbro slice. what little i have heard of slice (inside mma talk show) convinced me that he is a heavy handed brawler who needs time to train mma and also sharpen his technical boxing skills. i watched clips of his fights recently, both pro and street, and my views were confirmed. what little interest i initially had, was rooted in seeing a "spectacle" fight. something of a carnival show.
though slice's loss may be crushing to his u-tube following, i don't see it making a big difference in the interest of the core mma audience. it's hard to believe that it will crush elitexc.

MMA is big business and the UFC wants 90% of the profits to be theirs. Though I am for fairness, can't help but admire Dana White for a job well done. Which MMA promotion will feel the wrath of the UFC next? IFL is dead, Elite XC is going to be dead, Stikeforce is still irrelevant, HDNets is now focused on MMA news rather than promoting, and Affliction is beginning to lose money.

    Unbelievable!
Kimbo DID NOT GET KNOCKED OUT, and I hate being a sore loser,,,, but,,,,, A blow to the back of the head is a blow to the back of the head, just like a punch below the belt.....RECOGONIZE,
And YAHOO! does have a probably with other MMA promotion compaines/ organizations because they have some sort of $$$ thing between them.
And Fedor is M1, not a free agent.

Kimbo slice is a classy guy and i believe he still can be a force to be reconded with.Anyone can lose on a given day,so many of the other fighters have loses as well with not much said about it. Give him a break just because he lost one freakin fight! you critics make me sick!

You might say Yahoo is pro UFC because of all the stories that get printed, but the fault really lies with EXC for being a 2nd rate organization. UFC didn't start out great, but it's the king now for a reason.
EXC should disappear. Affliction is on the right track but it's the lil bro right now.

Petruzelli should not even be noted as the next big thing. He beat Kimbo Slice. First off, Kimbo isn't even a good fighter, and secondly that fight was weak. Kimbo was not even beat when the ref stopped it. I would love to see him fight tito cause tito sucks too, and he would kick the crap out of Petruzelli

Frank Mir made quick work of Brock. Lets see what he does against Kimbo. Put him in with a submission specialist and see how far his game has come. If all he can do is brawl, he will NEVER be a champion.

ViolentBreed.....the differences between Frank Mir vs Brock and Kimbo vs Seth are (1) Mir was a one time UFC Heavyweight where as Seth is a person who never amounted to anything in MMA and (2) Brock was beating his butt before he got caught in a rookie mistake to a BJJ black belt and Kimbo got KO'd in 14 seconds by a Light Heavyweight.

Kimbo is a joke! He has no real skills and is a side show freak at best. He was made short work of by a guy who is a second tier light heavy weight. Kimbo should go back to giving charlie horses to 120 pound guys on South Beach.

Look people, Kimbo Slice was and still is not a professional fighter. Seth Petruzelli, is a professional fighter, albeit not a great one. This was going to happen at some time or another. CBS and Elite XC were trying to bank as much jack as possible on him before he would lose.
Seth has beaten other fighters in King of the Cage including Dan "The Beast" Severn, a former UFC Champion.
Most of Seths' victories have been by way of KO. So putting him in with Kimbo was a huge mistake for EXC. Hell, none of the commentators knew anything about Seth, anyone heard of having an internet link ringside for some quick info? CBS commentators suck. They couldn't call a fight between Tonya Harding and Nancy Kerrigan.
Elite XC has to replace all of these guys and get people who know MMA. At least one of them should have played the antagonist, bringing the honest truth that Kimbo was not going to be able to live up to the hype..
UFC has done well to establish the standards..Like it or not, they have the money and the good history now in developing fighters..They are business men..They know how to make money.
As for Tito beating Seth, are you kidding me? Has anyone watched Tito's last fights? Nothing impressive at all. Tito cannot compete as a top 10 contender anymore. Maybe he should lay off of Jenna for a while, it seems to have softened him up too much!

Seth showed us all even a journeyman fighter with almost no skill can knock out one of the sports true legends. Kudos to him for fighting's biggest upset, maybe ever!

vudusup -- I couldn't let that comment go unchallenged. I sincerely hope that you were trying for irony, because if not, you are higher than EXC's announcer Gus! First, Seth isn't a "journeyman with almost no skill." He has trained in martial arts since he was 6 years old, so he does have skills.
But, seriously, saying that that was "fighting's biggest upset, maybe ever" is one of the dumbest things I have ever heard. Kimbo is a skill-less brawler. His last fight against the tomato can with the cauliflower ear was a joke. Kimbo should have lost, but the ref made sure EXC's cash cow could go on a liitle longer. When Kimbo was on his back taking over 20 shots to his dome without defending himself, ANY OTHER FIGHTER would have been called for TKO. And then the way the ref jumped in and said that Kimbo got the TKO in the 3rd round was BS. That fight was so rigged, BECAUSE even EXC knows that Kimbo is a joke. If the retarded reporter chick on CBS beat Kimbo, it wouldn't be much of an upset.
Seriously, lay off the crack pipe. That fight was no upset. A fighter will skill beat a joke of a street brawler, and that's all that happened! Biggest upset my a$$ . . . just retarded.

Kimbo got knocked out because he fought an experienced fighter and didn't have the since to keep his damn hands up. Its pretty freaking basic. Kimbo is a big strong guy and if he can get some good experience and some excellent training he could possibly be a decent fighter before he gets too old for the training. If they want to keep up the circus though i am all for it as long as someone is getting hit in the face. I say the next match needs to be KIMBO Vs BUTTERBEAN!!!! And that's MY opinion

Every fighter loses sooner or later, Ali, Fedor and Anderson all have lost. Im no kimbo fan. But, the guy has heart to start training and fight at age 31 which is entirely to late vs guys who have been training since 3-4 years old. However, its sad to watch Seth say the things he is saying when he was actually trying to get the hell out of the ring. Even he knows the end result of a rematch. He landed a lucky shot while running away. The only reason there was a fight is because there was no place left for him to go. Kimbo smelled blood and got careless, which is what rookies do. Seth, enjoy your 15 minutes. You earned it just by having a pair and stepping in, most would not have. Including 99% of the trash talkers on this board! Me been there, done that!!!!!!!!!!

Patrick Willis is God, your opinion in wrong. Just because Seth trained in Taibo with Billy Blanks does not make him a superstar.
I admit he may be one of the top light heavy weights after his stunning defeat of Mr. Slice but to call him "skillfull" would be a stretch at best.
Kimbo should have lost, he was getting his face melted by the relentless (albeit clumsly) onslaught brought forth by Seth. To say this isn't fighting's most prodigious upset is insanity.

You guys are such hypocrites!!! First off, congrads to Seth for his win MAINLY because it was a 14 second KO which anyone should be happy about no matter who it is against. Secondly, to all the KIMBO bashers, if he was so [profane]ty like "you knew" then what is the big deal that Seth beat him? Thirdly, KIMBO still has a lot of potential. He just made a big error and he will have to change his game plan. He cannot just rush in on guys. He should pace himself because he has the power to KO people at any point. When I heard KIMBO was not fighting SHAMROCK and was fighting SETH, i looked up SETH on sherdog.com and saw that all of his wins were by KO and that he had never been KO'd yet. I was nervous for KIMBO after seeing that.

I say they get it over with and make a Kimbo vs Tyson fight happen. I mean even though I think Kimbo is a joke of a headliner EXC could headline that on PPV and it would break record veiwership that the UFC would dream about. Two big circus freaks in the cage, and EXC won't have to worry about paying Tyson more to stand. ;-P
