If you want to save $39.95 but still catch Affliction on Saturday, you will have a hard time finding a bar where you can watch the fight. You see, the lack of household name star power that is keeping casual MMA fans from finding interest in the fights this weekend is the same thing that keeps the usual MMA bars from buying the fights.
Buffalo Wild Wings, a large national chain that showed Affliction's first event in July 2008, is not airing this event. Hooters is also not going to buy the fight, and in my hometown of Chicago, the closest I can find to a bar airing the fights is one that said, "We're thinking about it."
On both the UFC's Web site and the site for Affliction's first event, there is a listing of bars and restaurants that will air each event. There is no such link on the Day of Reckoning site. With this on top of the rumors of poor ticket sales, Affliction is seemingly in trouble before the first punch is thrown.

According to this there are no bars in the Los Angeles area playing this fight??

Bars have to pay much more than a regular person to order a PPV, and it really doesn't make sense for them to order a PPV unless they can fill the place and make a profit when you factor in the cable bill.

I think AA will look good. He looked in his last two fights however one was against Big Country Nelson. I expect Fedor to pull it out. Betting against him is like betting against the Spider.

Of course you do Ron, we all know what you're about and that even former PRIDE fighters such as Anderson and Rampage were hacks before they came to the UFC and that you aren't a fan of a fighter until they come to the UFC.
But see for MMA fans who actually like to watch fights and leave the poitics to Execs and the sub-par Yahoo journalists there are 2 HW fights that are far better than anything that the UFC can deliver.... Fedor vs AA and Fedor vs Barnett.
Regarding your "but don't forget about AA's very poor performances"... Weren't those fights 2 years ago? Great logic though. Oh and "As you know" AA was knocked out ONCE by Tim Sylvia not TWICE and it was after AA dropped an A-Bomb on Timmah's face, a fight AA was in complete control of yet somehow in your eyes AA wasn't very impressive (I don't think you've actually even seen the fight based on your Sylvia Koed AA twice comment).
Also, Mir/Nog a top 5 HW match up? Oh because an unranked Mir beat an unranked Lesnar that puts Mir in the top 5? Great logic again. If we use that same logic we can put Houston Alexander in the top 5 at LHW because he beat Jardine.
Lastly, NO victory is impressive to you unless it takes place inside the UFC octagon. Beg to differ, please do I would love to hear you actually defend the baseless claims you make for ONCE.

As far as the HW's let's match him up and see who's the best. Otherwise it's all just conjecture.
By the way Dana...Mir was a former UFC champ and he looked better than he ever has before and everyone knows how much you like Nog. As I'm sure you would agree that he "was" considered by many the #2 guy.
Yes, I'm choosing to spend my money on the biggest fight in MMA history which just so happens to be in the UFC.

So I could have watched 93 at a bar and Affliction at home.

: p
As I predicted previously- I'll be surprised if Affliction makes it til June. I wold actually like to find a bar to go see this event, just to see Fedor vs. AA- the rest of the card is ALMOST as interesting as Coleman/Rua was...
Ican2-
did u seriously just post something on the internet, and then say "don't tell anyone"?

"NO victory is impressive to you unless it takes place inside the UFC octagon. Beg to differ, please do..."
ok Dana, I'll bite on this one. i wouldn't say that NO victory is impressive unless it takes place in the ufc; but it's def. MORE impressive if it does. Personally- I like both Fedor and Arlovski, neither of whom are in the ufc; but I'd like to see them both there, cuz they're both very good fighters who I feel both deserve to be with the only truly successful mma promotion, instead of an overpriced t-shirt company that suddenly wants to be an mma promotion, so they throw ridiculous amounts of money at the few top fighters that'll actually answer their phone calls. Apparantly- Affliction didn't learn from Pride, EliteXC, Strikeforce, etc., that this strategy doesn't work in the long run. So these fighters sign huge $ contracts that will prob. never be fulfilled, cuz the promotion will be out of business within a year. Seriously- FEDOR- the greatest HvyWt. since Tyson, can't sell tix and ppv's!?! That fact alone should tell u that the rest of the promotion suuuuucks! That being said- I'll be impressed with whoever wins this fight; but was I impressed with Fedor running through a ufc- reject past his prime, overweight, was never really that good even when he was in the ufc Tim Sylvia?- No! I was very impressed when he beat Nogueria; but do I think he would run through the entire ufc HvyWt. div. today?- No! Personally- I'd love to see Fedor and Arlovski both fight Mir and Lesnar- IF they can get past Gonzaga, Kongo, etc. to EARN it. But until he (Fedor) is willing to step up and prove the critics and cynics (including me) wrong, he'll NEVER be considered the #1 fighter in the world that he Claims to be. But no worries, the ufc doesn't have to actively pursue him and throw a bunch of money at him; they're still making allllllot of $$$ without him. Don't get it twisted- Fedor needs the ufc alot more than they need him... Couture learned that the hard way too. And when Affliction folds in a month or so, he'll pretty much have to sign with the ufc; prob. for alot less than they offered him last time. Maybe when that happens, Fedor will look into getting a new agent, that's actually looking out for HIS career, and not his own short-term meal ticket...
