How can it get any worse for Affliction's Jan. 24 card? Many in the mixed martial arts world, including myself, thought it was a coup when Affliction forged a deal with boxing promoter Golden Boy. Oddly enough, Golden Boy CEO Richard Schafer and VP Eric Gomez have since refused to address in detail the company's ties to the MMA company beyond the apparel side of things.

Then came the news that one of Golden Boy's biggest names Shane Mosley would fight on the same night in a welterweight superfight against the hottest name in boxing, Antonio Margarito. At least Affliction could bank on a solid SoCal audience choosing to stay home and attend its MMA card at the Honda Center in Anaheim. Not so quick. Bob Arum just announced that boxing has dealt Affliction another crushing blow by putting the big boxing card just up the road at The Staples Center.

    Forget "Golden Boy".. He fought like a joke last night. Probably the most overrated fighter of his generation. Last nite he showed the heart of a guy that belongs anywhere but in a fight. Overrated and overpaid.. Put him out to cross dressing pasteur and throw Larry Merchant, Jim Lampley, And Manny Steward in there with him. Man that whole format needs a major over haul...

    Dear nerds: this blog entry has NOTHING to do with De La Hoya the fighter, so there's no reason to discuss his fitght or career in this thread. What is worth discussing is why Goldon Boy PROMOTIONS (notice the caps, so you fellas know that I'm not referring to De La Hoya the person), is sabotaging Affliction. I never felt this marriage would help Affliction much, anyway, but I didn't think it would actually hurt it.

    how is Affliction still in business? Oh yeah- Fedor. Aside from Fedor, does anyone actually care about this crappy promotion? I'm all for competition for the UFC to make better fights for the fans and all that... but if ur gonna call urself a competitior- at least TRY to compete! Affliction is a joke.

    he looked so uneasy the whole time, dude must be under alot stress/pressure
    he said that the margarito vs shane mosley fight wont effect the ppv tho
    because he said the there is extreme boxing fans and extreme mma fans

    Affliction is a sinking ship. Too much salary going out to too few fighters AND now they not only have the UFC scheduling cards to offset PPV sales, but now boxing is taking the same cue. Pretty soon Affliction will be no more and a LOT of those HW names will be fighting for the UFC. Coming soon to a UFC cage near you - Fedor v. Lesnar or Big Nog or Mir, or Gonzaga etc. UFC is licking their chops to pick up the Affliction scraps!! LOL, Arlovski will be back to the UFC too, just like Penn, AKA and all other defectors!

    I can honestly say I've never been "cougar hunting". One of my t.k.d. teachers was a pretty hot chick, and was like 40 (I was 23 at the time), and she was pretty hot, and actually asked me if I wanted to come over one night after class cuz her husband was outta town. If not for the husband thing, I would've prob. done it; but I'm not into home-wrecking... that was my closest experience...

    HAHAHA Couger hunting can be quite lucrative and fun. Actually, It's like shopping at walmart some of the products are old and ugly but if you check the specials you can find really good deals..;-}
