Affliction is following a good trend started by the UFC by posting some pre-fight videos similar to Dana White's vlogs. Unfortunately, the promotion must be following the lead of COO Michael D. Cohen who thinks viewers will tune in because you bash the competition. It's funny stuff but kind of pointless if the goal is to sell pay-per-views.

It is cool watching Freddie Roach and Jerry Millen make a $5,000 bet on the Andrei Arlovski-Fedor Emelianenko fight in the main event of Saturday's Affliction 2 card. Roach asks if Fedor will fight like a man, Millen responds by saying it's mixed martial arts. Then the fun begins when Tito Ortiz is brought in to lob some heavy bombs at White:

"I was flipping through 944 magazine and I see Dana there all swelled out from steroids. You look at the kettle, the kettle's black. You can't look at him any other way, the kettle's black."

The conversation turns to questioning why the UFC president has a watch endorsement deal. Ortiz says he made White famous so now girls talk to him and he drives Ferraris. The question is also posed whether White is man enough to come watch Fedor in person. Millen asks if White has the "balls" to show.

In part one of the press conference coverage, we meet some of Fedor's trainers who are just as stoic as "The Last Emporer". Oscar De La Hoya makes an appearance at the presser and doesn't look completely comfortable with the fighters he's introducing. It looks like it may take DLH some time to warm up to mixed martial arts.

Cage Writer will be ringside/cageside with live updates at both Affliction 2 on Saturday and WEC 38 on Sunday.

I used to be a tito fan back when he was a fighter, I was @ UFC 33 to see him in the maine event. Since then he's turned into high school teeny bopper with all the trash talkin, I saw him in a video where he complains about making 11 million dollars in his span in the UFC . We get tired of over paid athletes who don't produce and he falls into that group. He's all sideshow now.

Isn't it an utterly stupid question to ask if Dana White will show up to an Affliction fight? Hmm, I wonder when the last time Cohen showed up to a UFC fight. Isn't it stupid for Ortiz to bring up steroids?? Ortiz and Barry Bonds should have a melon head contest to see whose melon has swollen worse due to the intake of HGH.

Tito is a jackass, but he's right. Dana wishes he was a fighter so badly; but he was a crappy boxer and crappy boxing promoter. So he couldn't be a fighter. But he still wants to project a tough fighter image. So how do you do that when all your employees could whoop your ass? Juice up and swear a bunch.
    Love UFC; hate Dana.

I can't believe day after day I check this blog for talk about the Affliction Card and everyday I find nothing. There is only UFC, WEC, and negative Affliction blogs. I am getting tired of making Cofield and Maggie Jokes about it. It's too bad, this used to be a great place to blog about MMA.
Ruckaone is correct....anti-Dana stuff gets pulled immediately. He has Cofield and Maggie in his pocket. They are a couple of tools.

Tito is a better talker than he is a fighter, so his role as a commentator should suit him fine.

    hey guys-
maybe Affliction just can't afford the editing staff to put together a web video that actually works. If only they had given some of Fedor's ridiculous pay to a decent production crew...

Affliction event saturday is going to rock. My friends and I are having a fight party and expect quite a show. I'd always buy an event with Fedor in it. Basically he's a living legend...see him while he's still around.

    hey Mars-
let us all know how it turns out; cuz I doubt there are many people on here rich enough to waste money on this bullsh!t Affliction show, with Penn and GSP coming next weekend. I can't even find a sports bar within 20 miles that's willing to pay for it and charge a cover to watch it... pathetic.

I wonder how the marketing meeting at the Affliction office went when they booked this show:
Atencio: "hey guys- I've got it! We're gonna blow the ufc out of the water by booking this event, if we can even sell enough tickets to rent the arena for the night, by putting it right between Henderson/Franklin and GSP/Penn. And for the main event- of course, Fedor!... against some other guy who couldn't make it in the ufc. The fans will love it! And best of all- the ppv will be cheaper than our t-shirts- only $45!"
rest of staff: (all looking around at each other awkwardly) "uh, yeah, Tom... great idea. And u totally have more hair than Dana White!". Antencio high-5's all his 'associates' and heads to the local starbucks; rest of staff heads back to their office, and gets on monster.com to start looking for new jobs...

FYI - Arlovski left UFC on a winning streak, and left on his terms. He was not cut by Dana and certainly did not leave because he "couldn't make it." Dana even said he would welcome back Arlovski.

Farthammer - Wasn't AA fighting on a UFC undercard or two before his contract expired?? I don't think the UFC was too happy with AA in the end and didn't mind seeing him go, or they wouldn't have put a ex champ on an undercard. JMO!

Fedor will keep his legendary status by beating UFC castoffs and PRIDE fighters. So far, we have seen what the PRIDE fighters are offering in the UFC. I will say again after the impressive losses by Rua, Kang, Cro Cop, Nog, Hearing, Filho, Sokoudjou and even Wanderlei I am beginning to have my doubts about the legitimacy of the remaining PRIDE fighters and there aren't that many left.

Darkness! Pathetic. Arlovski couldn’t make it in the UFC? … he goes 3-0 in his last 3 fights and then doesn’t re-sign because all the UFC BS! Arlovski would be a favorite against any HW in the UFC right now…and he is the only person who has half a chance against Fedor!
I think if the UFC were to lay an egg right now, you and Great White would sit on it.

First of all can you blame AA for leaving UFC,hmmmm...make 150k per fight or close to a million per fight.Second of all Fedors made so much cash that he doesnt need the UFC and its exsclusivity contracts. Why would he,hes huge overseas.I know this is hard to believe for UFC fanboys but MMA started outside this country and had been huge for years in asian and south american countries before UFC even existed. What sux is you can understand why Dana wants to keep exsclusive contracts,it makes financial and marketing sense not to mention to prevent injuries from occuring in other promotions.I would love to see Fedor go through the UFC HW division in a year, but it will never happen.Fedor would not sign a UFC only contract because frankly its a primarily American promotion(although they are trying to change that)and as such is too small.

If it weren't for AFFLICTION, all you so-called die hard mma fans would not be watching Fedor or Arlovski. If Affliction folds we will miss out on a lot of great fights. Expect Dana White to use an Affliction colllapse as a huge leveraging tool to lower salaries and bonuses. Anyone fighter who goes against him he will tell them to go to Japan! Dont be UFC tools! We need another MMA organization in the US.
By the way, if Affliction had folded do you think American Kickboxing fighters would still be in the UFC? The risk of Affliction picking them up helped keep them in the UFC. They had some leverage in negotiations. Dana would have forced them to be low-balled or be eating suishi.

ruckaone I got to see the video so it must be the feed where you are. I can see the Millen comparison and you're pretty bang on there. phphphphphph.
He's (Tito) just going to announce you'd think he would try and promote if anything just to piss off Dana and oooh what if he became successful at it ? But his smack talk would get in the way, negotiation is not his strong point either.
