Aaron Riley will fight "The Ultimate Fighter" season nine winner Ross Pearson in Pearson's backyard at UFC 105 next Saturday. But Riley, a fighter with who has fought in 40 bouts, is ready for the crowd to be against him.

"It's kind of tough, but to me it's not that big a deal," Riley told Cagewriter. "A fight's a fight. He's definitely going to have crowd support. At the same time. I'm going to try to use the negative crowd energy and use it as a boost to drive me to excel. I'll take it, flip it and use it in another way."

Riley is one of the many fighters that trains with Greg Jackson in New Mexico. To prepare for next weekend, he worked with Joe Stevenson, who beat Spencer Fisher at UFC 104.

"The cool thing about [Jackson's] is that there are so many good guys to train with. I helped Joe Stevenson get ready for his fight. He was fighting a southpaw, and I was able to mimic that, and he's orthodox, which is the way my opponent fights."

Working with Jackson means that Riley will hear Jackson's interesting way of speaking to his fighters in the corner. Jackson is known to speak to fighters in calm, soothing tones, and asking them to repeat the directions Jackson has given, which is quite a contrast to the way many other cornermen coach their fighters. Riley sees that as an asset.

"It's very relaxing. It's very refreshing, compared to someone who is just screaming at you, saying what you did wrong, what you did right, and giving you too much information to take in all at once. Greg really has a good handle on that. I think that's a productive way to corner."

Along with Jackson's expertise, Riley will bring with him the experience of fighting for 12 years, despite his relative youth. Riley will turn 29 in December.

"[The experience] will help, in that I've been in the position before of being on someone's home turf and being the bad guy. I know that I can't overlook anyone. I'm looking to fight hard. It is his home turf,  this is his first fight since winning the show, and he's looking to make a statement. I've got to bring my A-game and be prepared for that."

I like Riley, he's a tough fighter who always brings it. I think he'll win, but I don't know enough about Pearson or his fighting style.

"Ted D" Its not the unofficial UFC page, it is the official UFC page hence the UFC link on the Yahoo sports page instead of the once MMA link. That should tell you everything you need to know about Yahoo's stance on the UFC. It's pretty sad that I even noticed when Yahoo even changed the link, but the Devil/Dana is in the details.

Maggie thank you for your response and i realize you are the only one who is posting anything at all about the SF event. But i really don't care if the press events start TOMORROW. it doesn't mean you guys (99% Steve) can't have SOMETHING of VALUE to blog about before hand. no one cares about fedor's lucky sweater or posing with the lame chicago bear or that stupid fedor song that annoys the crap out of me every time i see/hear it

Ha Steven W..funny stuff. I was thinking the same exact thing. I think we all could talk more sense into Maggie than Cofield. Cofield still calls Strikeforce "Strikefarce" and enjoys making fun of Fedor for some reason. There have hardly been any blogs on the SF event, which I think is a pretty significant event for MMA. Yet Cofield continues to hype UFC 106 which is weeks away and blogs on former UFC stars doing pornos. Cofield has put out 1 blog on SF. I was expecting more over the weekend but the bias is obvious.
Com'on Maggie..you can do better than this. You interviewed Aaron Riley who is fighting over a week away and you can't interview any fighters from SF until tomorrow? Let's hear from Mousasi so we can get to know him better. I think he's got a more promising career in MMA ahead of him than Aaron Riley. The last three blogs have been UFC-related and tomorrow and Thursday will probably have more articles on TUF than SF. I know the UFC is more popular than SF but anyone that is an MMA fan would want SF to succeed and do well.
And I'm still waiting on Cofield's predictable article on how the UFC is going to counter-program this Saturday when SF is airing on CBS.

and while we're at it......there's a challengers event on friday isn't there? doesn't the evangelista/gurgel match warrant any coverage? especially when you consider evangelista's unbeaten status, not to mention his last fight with aina.....there were several blogs about that controversial ending (which was overturned to a NC) so why not give evangelista some more exposure for his fight with gurgel? this is sure to be an amazing match and evangelisa might finally be tested. anyone remember gurgel's last fight with connor heun? if that fight doesn't warrant follow-up coverage i don't know what does.
oh wait guys....i remember....the strikeFORCE presser starts TOMORROW

Ok I don't get it. Everyone on here seems to hate this blog and the writers and the UFC. So why even bother? Why waste your time? Why not just find a blog that has writers that you don't hate and adheres more closely to your vision of MMA purity? I don't get it.

Gimme a freakin' break..........alright there captain obvio's on the bias for the UFC
Watch tomorrow there will be like one or two "articles" on Strikeforce while the ufc and TUF10 will get like 5 or 6. What a fkkkking joke........I'm starting to wonder why I even bother.
No, I don't hate the ufc, but this is getting ridiculous

OH PULEEEEZE!!!!!!! An uneducated fool who thinks beating the crap out of people for a living is supposed to get our sympathy??? F him! He should have actually listened to his teachers and paid attention so he could learn something that could have been useful to society. As it is, let him live on ketchup. Not a bottle of Heinz in the world that doesn't have more brains than he does. What a complete loser (at least when it comes to his worth to the human race)!
