Good for Jorge "El Conquistador" Rivera. The guy has suffered with a family tragedy for the last year and a half since the passing of 18-year-old daughter last August. Rivera, 37, returned to the cage in April but looked sluggish in a win over Nissen Osterneck. He gassed badly in that fight and there immediate talked of retirement for the Puerto Rican-American. Rivera decided to go on and scored a devastating win over Rob Kimmons in fight No. 3 at UFC 104. Rivera dropped Kimmons in the first 10 seconds of the third round and then busted him wide open 15 seconds later. Kimmons, spouting blood from his brow, couldn't hold out any longer and the fight was stopped at 1:53 of the round.

You could see this one coming. Rivera is a good size middleweight at 6-foot-1. Kimmons, with extra belly fat at 5-9, should be down at welterweight. Rivera (17-7, 6-5 UFC) won the first two rounds with the more efficient striking.

He is a man of many men. Remember that fact!!! Whether the streets from the city I knew in MILFORD,MA with names like (ANTHONY MAGGIO), (ANGEL LORIANO) r.i.p. & (FRANKIE FIGUROA) r.i.p. Warrior's who keep on fighting!!! Some who made it, some who didn't but the names & legacy live on through the name of JORGE RIVERA. He is the first puerto rican fighter to make it from this city. Other names like HOWIE LONG who played for the OAKLAND RAIDERS for years is also affiliated with the area. From the streets to the basketball courts of WOONSOCKET,RI / WORCESTOR,MA & FRAMINGHAM,MA where we spent some years surviving the times. Since I've known Jorge & taking him to the first amatauer event in PAWTUCKET,RI where he beat TIM SILVIA I knew that he could do anything he put his mind to. As you can see he defies all the odds. The heart of a true soldier and friend. May peace be with you my brother.

Godd job Rivera. You're a class act and a good role model for upcoming fighters facing challenges.

Great to see him have continued success. I never paid much attention until meeting him in Iraq during a USO visit. He was a total class act. Not to mention, he was there shortly after the loss of his daughter. Nothing but love and respect.
