With eight wins in the UFC and his sterling work after UFC 94, it's clear that Rashad Evans does his best work late at night. He may not push aside Conan O'Brien or Jay Leno anytime soon, but how about if he tosses Carson Daly from his chair? The guy is funny.
He joined Cage Writer during the ESPNRadio1100 post-fight show after UFC 94 and brought the house down. He ripped out some of his "Mom" material then got to some Randy "Macho Man" Savage. He also laughed about something that isn't really a joking matter, the prospect of facing Lyoto Machida:
"I'm not scared," Evans chuckled when asked if he was afraid of the No. 1 contender for his title. "Machida is tough. I gotta lot of respect for him but I'm gonna win."
But what about the fact that "The Dragon" just took out previously unbeaten Thiago Silva inside of a minute?
"His strategy going into that fight was all wrong," said Evans. "He probably just didn't have the tools to match Machida. Machida is clever man, that dude is tough."
Click below to hear Evans with Cage Writer after UFC 94 (ESPNRadio1100):
Evans will get Machida in his next fight if Keith Jardine pulls a UFC 96 upset on Quinton Jackson in March. It looks like Evans is targeting May or June for his next fight.
Other entertaining moments included Evans singing '70's fly-guy style, a wicked B.J. Penn impression and his ideas for trying to top the spectacular Akihiro Gono entrance at UFC 94.
He did get serious when analyzing GSP's performance and said that his teammate would "take Thiago Alves apart" in his next fight. Evans also lit the early fire for a GSP-Anderson Silva superfight saying the Jackson Submissions Camp is well aware of "The Spider" saying that St. Pierre "doesn't do anything special".

Everyone just needs t o calm down and watch the show. It would be even better if Dana would act like a Boxing promoter and let his fighters fight against other organizations.

2) It's a blog, it's informal, so a little bit of gossip isn't outside the norm. That's what blogs are. Go to news sites if you only want serious stuff.

that they will just get inside his open stance and catch him one good time?
why do u think he frustrates everyone that fights him? cuz the cant hit him
i think that only another counter striker will be able to hit Machida i.e. Evans
but I just dont think it will be as easy as u all think, Machida will def get his licks in too
plus he is a master strategist, he will switch his game plan and knee and kick Evans all day
circling out, not letting Evans connect with a flush shot, Machida is a mastermind in the cage

Give the guy a shot, he earned it. If he loses, the critics are all correct. If he wins then I guess it's back to "so & so" will beat him, his stance, the way he comes in ect....although he will be champ so then we can all be treated to 5 rounds of his brand of Kimboesque excitement!

Look what a litle hype did to Kimbo Slice. He went from obscurity to an MMA legend!

Now - if you look at Evan's list of victories, how many of those guys are really well-rounded fighters? None. Liddell, Ortiz, Bisping, Bonnar and so on - all of those guys are strikers first and foremost. Their ground game is marginal or non-existent in some cases.
Lyoto Machida has a fighting style that no one as of yet knows how to adapt to. Not only is Machida dangerous in his stand-up, but his BJJ is excellent! This is why I think Machida will beat Evans if/when they fight for the title. He's so well-versed in different disciplines that Evans won't be able to adapt.

Personally i think he would destroy anyone in the LHW division. On any given night.
Rampage is way to mistake prone
Evans just doesn't wow me, no idea why, maybe his first round slow mothion style bugs me and i think it will eventually get him beaten.
Jardine, your kidding right? should not be in the mix.
wandi finished
Liddell finished
and he just beat the guy everyone was saying was going to be the next big star/force.

So he has to beat both Rampage and Griffin as well as destroy them in Kimbo-esque fashion to even be considered a top contender? That makes no sense, he's already beaten everyone put in front of him now he has to fight all UFC former champs to get a shot...
Although I can see Rampage giving him fits... that would be a good fight!

I hate agreeing with Ican2; it's much more fun to argue with him. But when ur right, ur right dude. And YES- I'd LMAO for days if Jardine beats, especially if he KO's Rampage... hahaha! Hey- just for the fun of it- IF that was to happen- couldn't u argue that Jardine would deserve the title shot?
