CARSON, Calif. (AP) -- Taylor Twellman scored in the 59th minute in his 2008
debut to lift the New England Revolution to a 2-1 win over Chivas USA on Sunday.
Twellman had been sidelined after having successful surgery to repair a torn
medial meniscus in his right knee April 2. It was the Revolution's first-ever
win on the road at Chivas USA. New England had been 0-2-1 against the Goats on
the West Coast.
New England took a 1-0 lead in the 18th minute on a goal by Kenny Mansally.
Jeff Larentowicz sent a long ball over the top of the Goats' defense, putting
Mansally in alone on Chivas USA goalkeeper Brad Guzan. The 19-year-old Gambian
used his first touch to place a left-footed shot just inside the far post.
Twellman extended the lead to 2-0 after entering the game as a sub in the
54th minute. He sent a left-footed shot past Guzan.
Justin Braun scored the Goats lone goal in stoppage time when he received a
centering pass from Maykel Galindo.
