Fresh off being named MVP of the MLS All-Star game, Cuauhtemoc Blanco will try to help the Chicago Fire to their first road win in more than two months Sunday night when they face the Kansas City Wizards.

Blanco scored a goal and assisted on another Thursday to spur the MLS All-Stars to a 3-2 win over West Ham of the English Premier League, earning MVP honors.

The Mexican playmaker, who has four goals and a team-high six assists, will now try to carry that momentum into league play after failing to post a goal or an assist in each of his last six games for Chicago (7-5-4).

The Fire have failed to score in four of those games, and have been shut out twice during their current three-game winless streak on the road.

Chicago hasn’t won as a visitor since beating New York 5-1 on May 25. The club is 0-2-1 since then and also lost 2-1 in overtime at D.C. in U.S. Open Cup play on July 8. It plays four of its next six games away from home.

The Fire, though, were able to secure four points from their last two games - both at home. They played Real Salt Lake to a scoreless tie July 19 after beating Toronto 2-1 on July 12.

“We wanted six points, and we got four,” Fire coach Denis Hamlett told the team’s official Web site. “Now we have to build on the positives and move forward.”

Chicago is 0-2-1 in its last three trips to Kansas City (5-5-6), and lost 1-0 to the Wizards at home on April 20 as Jack Jewsbury’s fourth-minute goal held up. The Fire last beat them on the road on Oct. 1, 2005.

The Wizards, who are 4-2-1 at Community America Ballpark, hope Josh Wolff can build on a strong season debut.

The forward scored in the 75th minute to help Kansas City salvage a 3-all tie with Columbus on July 17. He was signed on July 11 after leaving the Wizards in 2006 to join Germany’s 1860 Munich.

“It’s a good place for me. It’s been pretty good for me over the years,” said Wolff, who had 27 goals and 20 assists with Kansas City from 2003-06 after playing five seasons with Chicago.

Wolff, who has nine goals in 52 games for the U.S. national team, will try to help the Wizards improve on their 17 goals, second-fewest in the league ahead of only San Jose’s 11.

Kansas City’s scoring issues have been evident with defender Jimmy Conrad leading the team with a career high-tying four goals. Conrad, considered one of the league’s best defenders, captained the MLS All-Stars on Thursday.
